Drum n Bass

Post by Laroche »

Any suggestions on some good dnb? Im fairly new to the genre, Id love some advice. Ive heard Goldie, Roni Size, Amon Tobin (If you consider him dnb, some of his songs certainly are), and Aphrodite. I like most of it. Oh and Squarepusher rocks my world. God damn those beats..

But their must be more! Any lesser known artists that can pump out some original stuff?

"Eutow" by Authechre is sooo fresh!
The whole double disc album "Tri Repetae++" is really groovy.

"System Upgrade" by Dieselboy is my favourite.
I also REALLY love Gridlock. Gridlock is like a cross between industrial and drum'n'bass -- my two favourite genres. Good stuff.

Oh and Brett Campbell introduced me to "Uziq" (moo-zik) -- REALLY GOOD!!

if you're digging jungle as well, try some freaky flow. he's not a big producer, but he cuts some wicked dubs.

i'm more a dark breaks guy my self...

I'm all about jungle and dnb. Some of the various producers I'm into or have ever been into are...

Dieselboy (The Dungeonmaster's Guide is the coolest album ever!), Amon Tobin, High Contrast, London Elektricity, Calibre, J Majik, LTJ Bukem, Goldie, EZ Rollers, Freaky Flow, Roni Size, Squarepusher, etc., etc.

There's not really much DnB I don't like, save for that jump up stuff by Aphrodite. Some of it's okay, but for the most part it seems very unoriginal. Definitely what I've been into most lately is the housey DnB by High Contrast and similar artists. Lots of really good tracks! Also, got to love ragga jungle. Silly, silly shit, but so much fun.

Speaking of Amon Tobin, though... Does anyone know if that track on the CSS4 vid by Sam Colclough is by Amon Tobin? It sounds like it could be, but I didn't have any luck finding it.

edit: Oh, also! If anyone wants to listen to a bomb ass DnB station that you can stream online (even easier if you're an iTunes user), tune into BassDrive! (bassdrive.com)

A friend of mine let me borrow his Freaky Flow CD.

It's pretty good, I'm enjoying about half of it. :)

the best freaky flow album is probably "tits" aka obscene underground volume 1. keep it live is probably the worst, simply because i fucking hate how mc flipside won't shut the fuck up, and he ruins every song for me!

Been mentioned, worth mentioning again -- LTJ Bukem. If you are into things that are different check out anything from his label (I don't remember what it is off the top of my head).

One question though. You guys know of any good DnB without fucking annoying mcs? They ruin most tracks for me.
