Alright, this probably wont be hugely interesting to you guys who are insanely good out there, but this will help kill some time and should be fun, so 'ere goes. I'll start my blog out with the person/people who inspired me to start footbagging.
I started hacky sacking sometime in May with a friend of mine who had started after playign with some kids at school. I very very slowly got into it, and it was just something we kind of did inbetween ping pong cames. A few months later in July we were at a airport in Minnesota on the way to his Cabin over there, and were just kicking it around in the airport. A guy came up to us and started footbagging with us and was busting incredible moves, atleast to us anyways because at this point I was still working on my toe stalls. Anyways, he told us to check out footbag.org and the club Rain City Shred in Seattle, and to keep playng ect ect.
For those who know him, he was Miles Kelly (WaldenPond on this forum), and he definatly inspired us to get into "shredding" as opposed to hacky sacking.
Fast forward about 2 months to September. We finally went to play with Rain City Shred, and it was actually Miles' going away party. At most I was hitting inside stalls, toe stalls, and a really shitty shitty clipper and some butterfly kicks. My friend had bought Lavers and was just fuckin' dominating me. I hadn't boughten them and kind of refused to out of fake hubris, when actually I just didn't have the cash to get 'em. Seeing as Miles was giving away a lot of his possesions as this was his going away party, he gave me a pair of Lavers that he had. These old beat up Lavers with duel peace signs drawn on the toe in sharpie were absolutely the tightest gift that I had ever recieved.
From that point on, I've improved an incredible amount, and it is all pretty much due to Miles Kelly. Anyways, I never really knew the guy, I only played with him three times or so, but he definatly inspired me to start shredding, and it definatly has already changed my life. Thanks Miles.

Hey Dan,
Wow! Thank you sincerely for all of your kind words. I hope, and sounds like footbag is a positive activity (for many of us, a way of life). I owe SO much to the sport/game/art that we label footbag and am privileged to be a part of the conversion of another hacky sacker to the pure goodness of innovative shred!
A friend told me to check this post out (knowing that i'm never on here) and as I was reading I couldn't help but smile. I'm very happy that those small efforts helped a fellow footbager. You and your buddies made some big progress in that short period of time- props!!

ps you have inspired me equally. Thanks bro.

Alright, I have denied this thing for a really long time, but I want to keep it fairly active again atleast until GLASS.
Along with keeping this fairly updated, I want to keep my shred practice consistent too. My problem with staying consistent, as I sometimes have to many things interfering with my mental game. For instance I will stretch and go outside and kick for 10 minutes, and then get curious about who has messaged me on AIM and go back in and talk to people for 5 minutes and repeat. This is terrible for my progression I believe, as I use to sit outside in my garage and straight drill for hours with no interuption. Either way I plan on kicking a lot this month leading up until GLASS.
Another thing that I believe hampers my progression is the lack of care I've had for my body recently. Now that I am driving I have a lot more opportunities to go to party's and such, and not only does this hurt me as far as my physical state goes, I also end up getting very little sleep and thus feeling in no shape to practice. Even on school nights I usually have much homework to do and am up until midnight waking up at 6:50 every day to get back to school only to get more homework. Also now that I am 16 and mobile via automobile, I have no excuse not to have a minimum wage paying job washing dishes or something equally unfufilling. Truth is though I do need spending money for GLASS anyways, so I should probably start filling out applications.
As far as my game goes, I'm basically a strong tiltless player with a few basic 3's thrown in. My average string consists of Mirage>Pickup>Legover>Pdx Mirage>Far Legover>ATW>Butterfly
Or something in that order. I'd say my consistency is pretty solid, and if I really want to I can hit that string nearly every single time if I tell myself to.
Another thing that I really want to do is keep my inside stall game semi-consistent with my toe and clippers. I think it looks really stylish to hit some cool inside to inside moves. Outside sets are also something that I try to add in now and again, but its hard doing outside to outside moves.
I hope this post wasn't to depressing, as I'm extremely pumped for GLASS and footbag in general.
Peace guys.

I got something of an epiphany today when I was sitting in my "World Religions" class today. I was pondering about how Footbag is relitively similiar to Religion. For instance, their are certain things that can impede your "progress" such as women (men for some of us) and the pursuit of money. To get anywhere with your progress, you also need a monks like dedication and complete devotion. Also the atmosphere amongst our community is pretty altruistic, IE letting people you hardly know crash at your house, giving away free stuff to begginers and veterans alike. By no means are the similiarities complete, just something I found interesting how two of my four main passions (The others being Politics and girls... Which is kind of funny because politics and girls are some what relateable too... Bitterness, arguing, occasionaly "bi-partisanship
) are related.
I hit whirl today! My first 3 add outside of BOP! I feel like I've really hit a milestone here. Thanks for James and Sam for encouraging me in the "Challenges" sub forum. I feel like my string length is is getting better too, consistently 7 contacts a string. Well maybe not consistently, but pretty often anyways.
Anyways, I'm going to go apply for a job application. Wish me luck.

Props on the whirl man !
Its kinda funny, cause i hit my first clipset whirl today aswell,
and it felt even better than hitting toe whirl 3 times at xmas day
I dont know what you think, but i have the feeling, whirl is one
of those tricks, that is really easy after you understood the action.
Same with symposium mirage imo, once you got it, it kinda stays,
totally unlike smear or ducking mirage, the variety of components
there is a big window for a fuck up.
This is worst for me when doing pixie illusion or pixie ducking clipper...
Anyway, may the whirl be with you forever, and sorry for misinterpretating
your adick the 3rd post !
peace
edit : what does BOP mean ?
