Jeremy vid

Post by Jeremy »

I've made a short vid of me hitting some single tricks and a combo.

http://www.footbag.org/media/303/Jow.WMV

Below is the details of the 4 moves and 1 combo I hit in this vid so if you want to see them before reading about them don't read below the following line :P

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hit: pdx torque both sides - not very hard but I've recently changed my technique recently and they feel sooooo easy. Expect more torques from me in the future!! :D

Sailing ss dlo - Just a nice 4 dex - There's nothing wrong with this but I like to hit it with a slightly lower set and lifting my legs higher on the dlo.

Domintarix>dominatrix - equal world record. The flipside set isn't as good as I would have liked but it's a cool combo in my opinion none the less.

Sailing ss blender - unsealed - I think my reaction says it all. This is the first time I've hit this move and I dropped the handcatch :( - the angle isn't very good so you can't see how good the set out was. I'm counting this as hitting the move - although I'm sure there are people who wouldn't - anyway I'm sure I can hit it again.

I don't think anyone's hit Sailing DLO. I've tried...I can't get the last dex in...my Sailing needs more work.

I have had sailing DLO off my foot several times. I want it so bad, but I have never even sealed predator on that side. Jeremy, I will fly to Aussie Land and kiss you if you hit it.

HAHA!

Damn, sailing ss dlo is sweet!

Those paradox torques look too easy

Dominatrix > Dominatrix is so hard! I have such a hard time doing one of them.

And sailing ss blender? GeEZ! Loved your reaction! I would count it had it been me since you clearly had it in your hand but your fingers weren't cooperating at that time.

PROPS!

Great vid Jeremy! I have been studying those paradox torques, because you hit them so perfectly in that video. Thank you!

Props on the moves, very nicely done.

You should have played cricket when you were at school and worked on your catching technique. :P

I was pretty sure sailing dlo had been hit. Hasn't Windsen(?) Pan hit it? I thought he'd hit sailing eggbeater, too. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure someone's hit it. (Especially if sailing ducking double down has been hit...) Yeah -- the dominatrix back-to-back was so cool. I also wasn't sure if it was sailing at first, though, I had to slowmo to see the pixie. I also really dig your pdx torque style! What's the secret, Jeremy? ;p
I'm pretty excited to see your next sick 3 -- I saw you've already submitted it!

Yeah, the sailing was so subtle I needed to go back and watch again.

As for sailing ducking double over... I need to see vid to confirm it. Frankly, so few people have clean Spanish flies, that I`m skeptical until I see it on vid.

Sailing sameside dlo has been hit by probably at least 10 people, sailing opp dlo I`ve never heard anybody claim.

Just wanted to defend myself and say - I was a mad catch in cricket - people who played cricket at the last aus champs can probably back me up on that :P

The bag actually hit my elbow before I got a chance to catch it. If it were cricket I would have dived but I don't think that counts for sealing moves and I like the skin on my elbows. ;)

Dominatrix>dominatrix is nasty. I couldn't even tell the first time I watched. Hey Jeremy, I was just thinking of a wicked trick that I'd really like to see: sailing same backside toe blur or whatever it's technical term would be. toe>same in>op out>same in>no plant while op in<op toe.

I can do sailing DLO. I've never tried it before, but I can do sailing drifter with a couple of tries so it wouldn't be too much harder.

I posted some tips in the tips section but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post some here too.

First with all clip>same dex moves you should do a sideways hop as you set the bag - this moves the bag (relative to you) across your body to the other side. It is bad to set bags on angles and also for a move like pdx drifter - makes it a lot harder to hit! I actually drill clip>op clipper a lot these days because I think it's the most important drill for getting good clipper set>downtime moves. I don't know if anybody has noticed - but moves like that are a very big weakness for me - symposium isn't so bad but the no plant moves like pdx whirl, pdx drifter, barfly etc are not very good - especially on my flipside - and doing that clipper drill has really helped - a lot more than drilling infinities (which is what I used to do) because you can fall into infinities without having to the sideways hop on the set too easily.

The big thing about torque is keeping your legs close together. I actually think toe torque is a better move to drill than clipper torques because you are forced to keep your legs close together more - with a clipper torque you can do the dex by pushing your knee outwards and then still have time for the osis - I think toe torque is harder to do this. Basically you lift your leg straight up and then spin with your whole body (keeping the leg in the same position relative to your body) - because you're spinning you should dex the bag and then go straight into a clipper - don't think of it as an osis - just continue the full body spin.

Hopefully you can understand all that. I think for new players - it's best to learn drifter before you learn torque - because I think the best way to do drifters is with the same body spin and leg straight up style - except less spin and the bag caught on same clip instead of the op clip. Definitly drilling my drifters lots has really helped with my torques.
