just got this new browser by Mozilla, and i really like it so far. it's alot faster than IE, and you don't get all the spyware.

i have had this for 2 or 3 years now, and yes its a lot faster and more user friendly.

Yup Yup, Firefox just recently upgraded to 1.0 . I like it a good bit more with the security and speed you get from it. I also enjoy the d/l skins I use with different extensions you can use with the browser. Also love the tab browsing, and the quick search on the right, I always use google and dictionary.com , and it's always right there for me. Also like the download manager, nifty. Pop up blocker is also nice. Just a lot more versatile, and that's what I strive for.

Not much else to say that hasn't already been said, so I guess I'll just agree with everyone to add to the good reviews. Firefox owns, as does all the other Mozilla products.

I've never really gotten this, is firefox the browser name, and mozilla the company name or something? Looks like a great browser either way though...

what about the new netscape browser? I recently got that instead of IE . . . what do you guys think of it?
It has the pop-up blocker, tabs for multiple site viewing, quicklinks at the top of the page, i dunno what else . . . It seems to be working for me. Opinions?

netscape is owned by AOL i think. and i lost ALL trust from anything AOL ever since my firewall informed me that a couple spyware apps installed themselves through my Aol Instant Messenger connection.

Actually, the _new_ Netscape browser is based on FIrefox (0.9.3).

i would definitely recommend the 4mb firefox install over the 11-24mb netscape installer. who knows WHAT could be inside that extra 7-20mb!

I have actually been developing Firefox extensions and sites that take advantage of firefox's inate ability to format a page.

One thing I can tell you on the development side of things is that Firefox is a DREAM to code for. Its so friggin quick and nimble... like a FOX!

I converted to Firefox from IE 6 (infinitely exploitable) back a couple of months ago now, I wish I'd done it sooner ... anyone using the email app (Thunderbird?) any comments/comparison to Outlook Express (other than the obvious lack of crappy email macro virus shite)

It's all about the Fox now

I use a browser called Maxthon (used to be called MyIE2). I love it, popup blocker, multiple tabs, mouse gestures (right click, move up and down to refresh, right click and move left to go back, right click and go right, left, right, to close page, etc.) Lots of plugins and skins that aren't forced on you.. easily the best browser I've used

Here's what I know of the history of Mozilla/Firefox...

Mozilla is the organization that created the browsers, as well as the name of the full-blown browser/email/composer combination.

Mozilla was ORIGINALLY based on code from netscape 4.x that was released as open-source to the public. It has been completely re-written since the original release, and is now nothing at all like Netscape 4.x.

Firefox is a stripped down and streamlined version of Mozilla with no email support

Thunderbird is just the email client separated out of Mozilla

Netscape has been based on the Mozilla browser/email/composer combo for years now. It is about to change and be based on Firefox instead.

I use the full Mozilla combo at home, and Firefox at school (smaller, faster loading, don't need email support)

I also use Gaim, which is a multi-messenger program that allows you to have yahoo, aim/icq, msn, and others on the same buddy list. It does basically the same as Trillian, but it's smaller, faster, and not as ugly. :P The standard AOL IM is a piece of junk.

Oh, yeah. For some services they work, but for others, they don't. (msn works maybe, but aim doesn't, depending on the client the other person is using...)

It's constantly in development, so one day they'll fix it. I hardly ever use the file transfers so it doesn't bother me.

I'm pretty impressed with Firefox, I must say.

It's so easy to customise the setup/layout, and I've downloaded a few themes. The one I've chosen to go with is Noia 2.0 (eXtreme) 2.79

It's simple in it's design, but looks good.

Anyone else come across any good themes.

Better yet, anyone know how to make up a footbag theme?
That would rock!
