'SAW' - a review

First of all, let me just say that I'll not post any spoilers. This is just what I wrote, within a half hour of walking out of the cinema.

"I can only ponder the deamons that must exist within the mind of someone who can conceive something as brutal as 'Saw'. I feel... not so much humbled but, more in awe of the imagination.
The ending did leave me somewhat satisfied, although the audience is left to guess at the absolute resolution of the charactors lives. Perhaps that is was was intended? I, however would have preferred...something a little more final.
I do see alternate endings appearing on the DVD when it arrives, though.

The film is directed by James Wan (an Australian, supprisingly), and stars Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter and Leigh Whannell (writer of the screenplay and friend of Wan). Obviously produced on a limited bugit, the film relies heavily on the relationship between the two main characters, and the sick voyeristic nature of us, the audience, to keep going dispite the gore and the totally uncomfortable situation all the characters are emersed in.

All in all, I felt some of the acting was a bit lacking, and the directors choice of speeding up time/footage in certain parts a little distracting, if not annoying.

Not a bad film, though not a perfect one. It definately gives you chills.
Not a film for a first date. If you liked Se7en, you'll probably like this (you sick bastard

ALMOST SPOILERS BUT I'LL TRY NOT TO

It was a great film until I stopped to think about it.

There were simply WAY too many plot holes. ie: "Hey, we found out where the killer is, should we get backup? Nah, why bother."

Furthermore, one of the ones that bothered me the most...Detective Danny Glover continues to suspect Dr. Lawrence, despite the fact that he obviously would have seen the true killer's face when he went to the abandoned mannequin factory. In FACT, there's a short clip that flashes at the end of the film, the killer under a hood, with his hands up, his face clear to see.

Like I said, it was most definitely entertaining, but it got worse and worse as I thought more and more.

Walking out of the theatre: 4 out of 5
Lying in bed at home: 2 out of 5

yes i seen it last night actualy it really keeps you thinking the ending i found to be stupid and the twists in the it where pretty cool. GOOD GRAPHICS lots of blood yummy.
