Footbag is a legitimate sport and therefore requires appropriate gear. Please take this into consideration when posting. No one would ever go to an ice hockey forum and post pictures of their moon boots and broom and say "can I play?" Sports invariably require some investment and freestyle footbag has the smallest price tag of any sport I can imagine:

Rod Lavers $30-40
Sandbag $8
Thats pretty cheap and Xmas is just around the corner!

If you have questions about your current shoes, I highly recommend the 'fire mod' to prepare them for freestyle:

yo man..chill..some people dont got ANY money atall..so dont freak out at people for improvising..some people have parents who dont apporove of such activity..SUCH AS MINE..so its not like they will be all welcome to the idea of ordering me lavers or an abshire..and it makes it so easy for me cause im 16 AND I DONT HAVE A CREDIT CARD..so i cant like just got and order some shit online..and i dont really wanna drop 55 bucks in the mail so i can get lavers..its a huge risk..i already did it for the abshire..i hope he got the money and not some duechebag mailman...some people have harder times gettin the equipment they need..and to tell u the truth..i love my etnies..the do the job for me..and so does my shaggyhack.com 32 pannel...so dont being like all over the people who cant get the stuff..give them a change..

you don't necesserily (sp) have to order online with a Credit Card. Get a telephone #, place your order, and send a check to them or a money order.

I agree that footbag is a sport which requires little financial input when compared to most other sports. If you love footbag, you will find a way to get some sort of proper footbag shoes. It's simple.

You don't have to put money in the mail, just use money order, I think it's more secure....I did it many times because I don't have a credit card either, but I still want to get the shit I want.

And I agree with Chris, footbag requires only little financial input. Compared to, say, snowboarding or skateboarding where you have to get a bunch of expensive equipment, in footbag you can spend around 100 US total (shoes + a good 32 bag + shorts) and use this equipment for a few years...well except the bag which won't last 2 years of course unless you play in a gym only.
After you get holes in your shoes, you can repair them, it's that simple! I've been using my shorts for 6 years now and I'm still happy with them!

The Lavers themselves are almost worth mowing 3 yards and walking to the Adidas factory and buying them there. They make such a difference in my game, and people recognize you as a shredder.

i dunno...i have always been a firm believer in using as little money as possible for footbaggin, to keep it more pure and towards street shredding. where you just go out downtown (it helps to live in a city or something) hang out and hack with whatever you got, be it crappy shoes, huge baggy jeans, and a pebble to shred with. its all about just shredding on some street corner and waiting for homeless guys who can barely shred at all to come up and hang out and shred and talk and shit.

recently i have bought a couple more expensive bags, actually. you can get em for real cheap on ebay, which is what i do. they had lavers on ebay. i bid on em, but when they went up to 26 bucks i let the other guy win em. but i did win a 120-panel bag for like 15 bucks, and a nice sand bag for 5 bucks. but there really isnt anything wrong with using an old chrocheted (fuck, did i spell that wrong?) bag. maybe you cant do as much crazy shit with it, but they are great to just hang out and kick around with a really casual circle.

yeh, but just kicking around a bag is not freestyle. Freestyle is a different sport intirely... just like any sport you should try to get as best equipment as you can afford. Thats not to say that those who play with mr. sandmamn or cheaper bag are not as into footbag or arn't as dedicated as those with abshires, buy what you can afford.

Yeah! In hockey for all equiment it runs around 1000 dollars. A decent stick runs around 100 for heavens frggin sake!Freestyle footbag is a cheap sport. Find me a other sport where you can get everything you need for under 100 dollars?

They have the same thing in the US.

Or use a debit card. It's unsafe to use online but hey. It's safer than sending money in the mail.

those things are just like footbag. If you want to go for the cheap option then sure you can get away with things for under $100. My first footbag cost me like $6 australia ($4 us) and I played in my normal street shoes.

But if you think the top yo yo people and the top break dancers go for the cheap option - well - I won't say what I think of you

- A good Yo Yo costs around $250 au - about $180 US. Break dancers need the right shoes and clothing.

All sports are as cheap as you want them to be - and the more dedicated you are the more you can spend on them.

If you want to be a fucking awesome freestyler like Ted is - make a commitment to the sport. If you want to chill with homeless people and just kick a bag around like Peter - well do whatever you want - your views of this sport are so different to mine that I can't give you any advice.

I have never seen a yo-yo that costs that much, a very good yo yo can be purchased for around a 100 dollars... very top of the line like 120 i think, but maybe I'm mistaken. back to the origanol topic of equipment for shredding..my abshire will be sent on tuesday that i order with money in mail order..tomorrow..and tonite i convinced my mother to order my lavers..'solely becuase i just like them..and i swear they are not for footbag'..my parents arnt so crazy about footbag...hope you are all happy...and let me tell u..IT WASNT ALL THAT EASY to get it..

My family understand that i spend all my moneys for footbag... But they aren't giving me money for equipment. I spare my pocket-moneys, I don't drink beer, I don't go to the parties, because I want to save my money, and don't spend it for something other than footbag.
