Who Will Make BAP 2005?
Who Will Make BAP 2005?
I always love these topics - even though personally I probably wouldn't accept an induction anyway.
So we don't know who is going and who isn't so lets just chuck up some names and people who know can comment.
Justin Dale
Ricky Moran
Karim Douak (I think I've spelt his last name wrong)
a few Fins (don't know who - they're all good)
Reni Zulli (I don't know if that last name is right)
Illja - um from Estonia I think
Also some people that probably won't get in but are more than good enough - at least from the footage I've seen:
Derek Vandall
Brad Nelson
maybe Nate Linscott if he keeps improving at the rate that he has been lately.

yeah I thought about Chris - but I guess the thing is that you get inducted into BAP on a vote - not on skill level - so "being good enough" really means you have to be one of the top players un inducted at the event - so people like Chris and David Clavens - even though they are really good - would have to be as good or better than the people I mentioned - not just as good or better than people currently in BAP.
So I think for them it will be really hard this year - I would rate them a pretty good chance for 2006 - but I don't know - I've only ever played with two BAP people - one of which wasn't in BAP at the time - so I only know how good they are from footage I have seen - which is obviously the highlights - not the average runs.

If we had a worlds right now that everyone went to (and no one was injured ;p), then this would be my guess as to who's worthy, as to who would actually make it? *shrug*
Justin Dale
Ricky Moran
Lise Thygesen
Nate Linscott
Mikko Lepisto
Juho Marjo
Oleg Donner
Brett Campbell
David Clavens
... Cheebs? (every time someone says Cheebs, I can't remember his actual name)
Derek Vandall
Jeremy O'Wheel (moot point
)
Johnny Suderman
So many others...
I think to downsize this, my actual guess (not just throwing names out) would be something more like...
Justin Dale
Ricky Moran
Nate Linscott
Brett Campbell
Mikko Lepisto
Chris Kovacs
Lise Thygesen
This list will change so much by the time Worlds actually happens. I think unless you've played with everyone before, you can't really tell. There are so many factors besides who's hitting huge stuff in edited videos online...

I feel very warm and fuzzy to be on some peoples list. I love modified!
but it is the BIG add posse and not the Lots of Adds Posse, so I'm still several mind blowing tricks away.
I will do my best to get BAP worthy, but I will most likely miss Finland
As far as I can tell there are lots of Europeans that will make it. Paul C and Super Mario for sure.

Hah, if Nate made bap I would be so happy! In my opinion, since I see him shred almost every day, he could make bap soon. We will put out more vid soon because we have improved much since the last one. Nate especially

Ha! who is Super Mario?
I haven't seen much footage but I would love to see Stefan Seigert(?) make BAP. He's wicked! I am also very confident that if David continually progresses, at the rate he is, and attends Worlds in Finland he WILL make BAP.
I kind of miss the days when only 1-3 players would make BAP a year. 7 is a lot and it makes it seem like anybody can make BAP because so many people are inducted each year now.
Ricky will obviously make BAP.
Johnny Suderman will make BAP, but I doubt he will be attending Finland? MAKE VIDEOS JOHNNY!!!!! (Nobody has a clue how insane Johnny is. Seriously!)

IMO if 40 people show up and bust as hard as the 7 who made it this year, THEN 40 SHOULD MAKE IT. Bust and though shall be rewarded.Erik Chan wrote:I kind of miss the days when only 1-3 players would make BAP a year. 7 is a lot and it makes it seem like anybody can make
I would tell you who Super Mario is but I'm afraid to destroy the spelling. Watch the most recent late night finland vid, he hits lots of ripsteins.
Ricky will only make bap if he gets the necessary surgery on his knee. If he doesn't, then from what I've seen he will still I guess make bap, because with one good knee he is still bap worthy. I just hope he takes care of his injury, because he certainly didn't during seattle. I wouldn't either if I could bust that hard with a torn lateral meniscus. He is such a nice guy though, I wish him all the best.

James -- Yeah... I've heard he's stopped playing for now to let it heal. I believe that's what the doctors told him to do (could be wrong, though -- what did he tell you about it at SJFF? I have mostly second-hand info from other RCS members). He does bust heinous stuff while injured, though. Just to let you all get a glimpse, he was hitting stuff like toe flurry very ergonomically, he had a much better step, was opening runs with assassin>phoenix all the time, vortex>mobius = easy... etc. Ricky's great, but he needs to take better care of his body. Hopefully he's doing that right now as, yeah, he's the man. That's one of the reasons I see Justin making BAP with less difficulty than Ricky. Justin's a mind-blowing player mentally and constantly reworks his game. *very lucky to play with him at least weekly*
Also, James, I can't wait to see footage! Hopefully we'll get some of our own out at some point, too.

i'm also gonna put brett campbell in the lots of adds posse. he does looong strings of unique tricks, but i have never really throw down a big run with lots of 5's in it. i'm sure he can, i just haven't seen him do it. i also haven't seen him shred since september, and he doesn't post what he's hitting so who knows, maybe he's throwing down montage> gauntlet mid string.
paul cronjager i'd say no question, and i think he would have made it in montreal too if he had come. i knwo he had a knee injury and at euros had eaten like, a hand full of tylenol just to kick there, so it would depend on how he has recovered from that.
dave and cheebs, possible, if they keep improving at the same rate and don't suffer any injuries.
johnny suderman is a shoe in.
super marjo and mikko, well, i think there are enough finnish players to vote them in regardless of talent, which both of them have in reserve somewhere!!!
justin dale i'd say yes, if he has improved since worlds. i heard he was suffering from sciatica (sp?) and haven't heard anything about him recovering. i guess one of you seattle folk could tell us how he's doing.
there is only one name on any of these lists that i don't recognize: oleg donner. i am assuming he's finnish, but i haven't seen any footage of
him.
i guess we'll just have to wait 7 months and find out... why was this topic brought up so soon???

I guess
Paul Cronjaeger
Matthias Schmidt
Stephan Siegert
could achieve bap and those are only my German tips ( maybe I should add Jakob Wagner to this list but I doubt that more than 2 Germans will get inducted )
Karim Daouk
The polish guy who was in the final of Todexxon
That are my european top candidates (I am sure that 3 of this 5 will get inducted)
Other name I think of are some fins ( I do not know who is already inducted but they are all very good - it seems that nokia are producing good shredders
)
dexter and maybe one other guy from the the younger czech crew or pavel cerverny
Ilja is also very good
I don't think that Renato will make it - he gets injured very often - but of course I wouldn't begrudge the induction to him
I cannot judge other people which I didn't saw in real life - because edited videos are not the same

It feels too elietist for me - it's something that I don't have any aspirations to get into. Maybe it would be good for me to accept for Australian footbag - but I don't know - I don't think I'm good enough anyway - so I'll worry about accepting or not accepting when I have to (which will be a long way away anyway). I've always been a critic of BAP since I heard about it. Infact I think my first online footbag arguement was about itBainbridgeShred wrote:Why wouldn't you accept it Jeremy?
I guess the other reason is that to me footbag is not about being better than other players - and even though I love competing - it doesn't feel like people are judging you so much. I don't really enjoy competing much - I do it because I think I should - but I don't like the idea of somebody ranking me as overall a better player than somebody else. I give as much props when I see lynton hit atomic ducking torque as I do when I see a new player hit his first mirage. I dunno - I hope this makes sense - also I fully respect people who do want to get into bap and have accepted inductions.
Actually in all honesty it's not something I've thought about for probably more than a year - and I don't really care about it at all - so there is a chance I would accept just out of apathy towards the whole thing - it doesn't really worry me if I'm in or out.
Some people mentioned - Paul Cronjager, John Suderman, Super Marjo and Mikko - I think all have really good chances. I doubt there will be as many inducties as last year (7?) - so it will be really tough for everybody - We should have a book (odds and betting) when it gets closer
Just out of interest, how does the procedure of becoming a bap member work ?
And will someone have the patience to post all the current member
names, or is there a website, that would answer all my newbie questons ?
If Tuukka Antikainen isnt in yet, then i reckon, that he and Super Marjo
had a fair chance ...and Lise, she should definitly be in !
If i ever be that good, which i kinda doubt, i'd like to join C-fans and
Jeremy's NIP (Not Interested Posse )
