Would this be possible? I dont really think that you could do this unless it was way north IN the southern hemisphere. Since Worlds is in July/August that is winter down under.
Is there a way we could make this work? just hold it way north in the southern hemisphere? An indoor worlds?
Any thoughts welcome

Australia and New Zealand aren`t THAT cold in winter. Neither gets snow... if I wasn`t so lazy, I`d look up average winter temperatures in the major cities of each country, but my tooth hurts, so f*ck it.
The main problem with a southern hemisphere worlds, is the same problem with Worlds in Japan: not enough players live there, it`d be expensive for Europe and the Americas to fly there, and once you are there, it`s not ridiculously cheap (unlike poland or czech republic, where an American could afford to buy a plane ticket, because food/accomodations would be so cheap once he arrived).

Yeh the weather would definitely be fine for shred. It does rain more in the winter but not that often, and average temperatures are around 22 degrees i guess. We had a really dry, hot winter last year, it didnt rain for over 2 months in Sydney and we were having temperatures of 35+ Celsius 
As Ken said, in Australia at least there is only about 20 players, and we dont have a National organisation to help get funding and sponsorship. There are a few people who would probably be willing to put in the legwork, but money is just not there. Maybe in a few years... it would be brilliant to have a big tournament here.
NZ i think has a similar situation, although they have a secret weapon... Floyd Morgan, master tournament organiser! .... now ... retired
