I got a pair of these before I went to a music festival. The music sounded great and my ears didn't hurt or feel tired at all after 8 hours of loud music. Well worth the ~12 bucks. If you go to clubs or concerts a lot do yourself a favor and get a pair.
I agree with the use of ear plugs. I found that when using them it makes the music clearer, and takes away alot of the crowd noise.
That and it won't leave you with industrial deafness or tinitus when you're older
