There is no other way than hard practice. Unfortunately.
With time you'll find the right technique.

Remember to skool 'em both sides! I really mean it. Though it may be hard to do it flipside first, still practice them.

At the end you're name will be Anssi "BeeSauce" Sundberg.

the bag usually hits me in the hip. but if i play with a sandman, or an extremely broken in 32-pannel, it seems to go where it should. im also having some trouble doing clipper to clipper.

make sure to lean over your clipper
practice w/o the bag, a motion of bringing your clipper foot down, then straight up slowly, concentrating on maintaining the crank of your ankle and your balance.

the reason the bag hits you when you try to set the clipper is because the clipper foot is literally pulling the bag towards your body before that foot lets the bag go. Practice letting the bag go straight up.

For the Clipper try doing it quickly instead of holding the stall try and just do a quick delay (you may already do this, but it can help with the motion of sending it up)

For the Mirage yes definately try and get that dex foot down ASAP, try to not even do a whole dex just kinda step over it quickly.
