HELP ME!!

just noticed something today. i've only had my g units since mid april and my left big toe has almost made its way through the fabric in the toe box. any mending tips? all i can think of is putting mole skin on the underside of the toe box.

So it happens to someone besides myself. Is it right in the corner where the toe box meets the inside surface?

Out of the 2 pairs of G-units I've had, all four shoes have had this problem. I noticed yesterday that this is happening to my right shoe on my newest pair. It is one of the main reasons that I'm going back to lavers soon.

All sewing I have tried has failed-- sticking a needle through the thin material will only cause it to rip more. I have been using rubber bike tire patches that I got at walmart. They're in the sports section and they come with a tube of rubber cement, which lets you make patches larger if the rip keeps getting bigger. You can just keep adding on small patches if you need to and they will all meld into one.

There's no way to completely reverse the damage as far as I know, but the rubber patches are the best way to prolong the life of your shoes.

Oh, and the best way to attach the rubber to the shoe material is with Super Fabric, an adhesive made for fabrics that I found in the crafts section of walmart.

sounds a little sketchy. does the rubber add any weight? wasn't planning on sewing anything on but i once put mole skin on my old lavers (which is a soft fabric that both stops blisters that are forming and prevents it). it is adhesive and sticks like nothing. i applied it to the insoles though so I don't know how it will work for the underside of a toe box.

btw this hole has happened to all of my previous lavers. maybe I should just self-amputate my big toe

I have not noticed any increase in weight. The patches are pretty thin and light, but they definitely take away sensitivity over the spots they cover. That mole skin sounds like it could work, or you could lose the big toe. It just gets in the way anyhow.

The only holes I got in my G-Units were accidental new-x-acto-knife-slips, that spread a little bit after a while. I just stuck some black duct tape on the underside.
I also coated it in shoe goo (or any other sort of bad ass adhesive), especially on the edges, to prevent the tear from spreading.
I can't say I ever had any holes just wear into the fabric from use, though.
