how does freestyle affect your hacky sack ability

I've found that my hacking skills have decreased. My passes aren't as smooth and I can't do as many flyers.
Anyone else experience this phenomonae?

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

For years, freestyle affected my hacky game negatively, but not in the same way as you.
It made me forget why 99.9% of people play hacky. They want to PASS it, not see someone try and show off freestyle.
Once I realized that hack circles are for hacky, and that freestyle circles are for freestyle, I started to use my freestyle skills VERY sparingly, or even better, functionally, like catching a blind osis for a pass that is accidentally going behind me. Hackers LOVE that.
They also love hat catch, temple stall, ass stall, repeated rubber knees and double around the world, if used SPARINGLY.

Great post!
There is very little freestyle elements when I hack and I don't think freestyle took anything away. Maybe the the occasional ducking/diving move, Really high jumping flyers/eclipses and many of the moves Matt mentioned. I favor flashy martial arts-esque kicks and hustling for that seemingly impossible save.

Word. While hitting a 50 contact string is impressive, shredding just a few contacts then giving a good pass seems far more effective because it keeps the rest of the circle engaged in getting the hack as opposed to them just being spectators. They want to PASS it, not see someone try and show off freestyle.

I have to agree with Matt that hackers love rubber knees, if used sparingly.TheLast wrote:sNale wrote:professor wrote:
Also, ducking rubber knee immediately wows hackers to no extent.

I love hacky sack. I'm waaay better at it than freestyle. Jorden is a fantastic hacker to play with. His hack moves are arguably more creative than his freestyle inventions. But where are you guys finding hack circles? I haven't seen a genuine circle since the late 90s. The scene is nearly dead here in Toronto. Seems to have been replaced in our highschools by smoking and standing around.
Freestyle helped my hack game. I kick evenly on both sides now.

my friends and I revived hacky sack at Temple U last year, when I lived on campus
.
I got all my friends into it, and then they got all their friends into it, and then I got into freestyle footbag, and then there were even more hack circles around! Great impact
At different hours of the day we had nothing better to do than hacky sack outside freshman dorms, so random people walking by would join constantly. We must've had at least 12 people circles every other day, with what we called a 'nipple,' someone in the middle to catch the bag if it fell.
Ahhh those were the days. Too bad haven't seen many circles this year
