All this talk about photography and from looking at your pictures and my friends pictures (that have good cameras), I think I'm gonna take a photography class during the summer.
Oh and I also want to pick up a DSLR, something I've wanted to do for a while.
I've played around with the Nikon D40 and Canon Rebel XTi. I don't have money for them, but hey, that's what credit cards are for. :D

Oh, and this post was also to further Tom's request of moving on to the next page.

Huh, your post just made me constipated.

So, I'll be staying at my parents temporarily. I'll be there for the next 2 weeks starting Sunday or Monday to take care of my dad while my mom has to make an emergency trip to the Philippines to settle some family business.

I've been playing a lot of shooters this winter. Lately I've been tackling Call of Duty 2. What really struck me was the sound design and how it really draws you into the game and completely immerses you into the environment. There are soldiers calling out targets, angry germans saying angry german things, there's a sincere panic in voices that spot German tanks, the distinct "ping" when an M1 ejects it's cartridge - something I've heard about in WWII documentaries, the distinct and bone chilling sound of an MG42 and it's alarming rate of fire (again, something I've seen veterans talk about in documentaries) and the harsh, choppy breathing when you are shot. I really can't think of any game before this that has really enhanced my gaming experience just through depth of sound.

Other aspects that have added to my enjoyment of this game are details I've seen in the movies Enemy at the Gates and Saving Private Ryan. Things like the cloth wrapped russian sniper rifle to hide the shine and change it's outline, bombed out Stalingrad, rawling through the pipes, watching bombers fly overhead, the idea of the common russian foot soldier not being worth much, the german propaganda being repeated over a loudspeaker and russians speaking english (at least they had the proper accents in the game  ). The Normandy invasion had many visual similarities despite the different landings. Troops being shot up at the front of the transports, realizing the futility of trying to cross open ground between the trench you're in and your next objective, the sheer insanity of charging an MG42 nest, clearing the bunkers and trenches and frightfully checking around every corner, and the overwhelming chaos of getting off the beach and to the rally point.

CoD2's style of play took some time to get used to since it seems that you are encouraged to advance your position all the time where as most other shooters I've played allowed me to hang back and snipe targets from a safe distance until it's free of enemies. I'm currently on my third play through, this time in the hardest difficulty. What a bitch! The game reminds me repeatedly how stupid it is to stand there and trade shots and hope the enemy dies first. What a great game :)

Still waiting for my phone. Still waiting for my camera. My younger brother got home from the Philippines last night. He left Manila about 7 hours before my mom landed there. My dad is doing well. I see myself gaining a lot of weight during my stay. Not sleeping well the past 2 nights.

My mom gets back home Saturday. I'll probably go straight home after work unless my nieces are coming to welcome their grandmother home. Been pretty bored the past week and a half. My dad is fine. He just watches tv and cooks all day. I don't really mind keeping him company but he's taken to praying constantly. At first I thought he was going nuts and talking to himself. I don't think I've ever seen him pray this much before. It's a bit unsettling. I wonder if he thinks his time may be near and he's making right with god?

He still cooks enough food for 10 people for every meal. That was great when both my brothers and I were all living there. My appetite has been weird lately and I just don't eat nearly as much as I used to so there's always leftovers. I tell him I'll eat leftovers for dinner when I get home from work but he ends up cooking more food.

I got a cold from seeing my nieces and ended up going back home to LaRAZA to keep from spreading it to my family. But that meant I get to sleep comfortably in my own bed. Unfortunately, that was also the same time Zach and Henry came into town. All I could do was hope not to give them a cold. I'm glad I got a chance to spend time with them the whole weekend, even through the seriously nerdy stretches when everyone constantly talked about freestyle. I wasn't too fond of it when I used to shred, I sure as hell don't like it now. Mercifully, it was limited to a few instances.

There were plenty of others things to talk shit about that weekend. Personally, I think some of the funniest shit talking was during that last round of Big Bumpin' just before I headed back to my parent's house. What a surprisingly fun game! Reile also picked up Bioshock... absolutely gorgeous visuals.

Lots of food! Spammed the shit out of Villa Palermo, and I finally got to eat pizza at Gino's East. Reile and I also treated our various guests with a nice hot breakfast. Oh, let's not forget Henry's paralyzed drooling face from the night we had fish sticks! What a hilariously surreal moment. I'll upload the pics as soon as I can. In fact, I think I'll go home tonight so I can do laundry and clean up LaRAZA tomorrow. I'll upload the pics then.

Oh yeah, finally got both my camera and phone.

Is that what the kids call "frontin for the camera"?

Or is that what the kids call "being douchebags"?

I'll never understand youth culture.

Did you do the blue tint on the 1st pic on purpose? While it looks cool the snow looks really unnatural, yet perhaps if you were able to make it "as white as snow" the picture wouldn't look as cool. The second pic is nice, and I enjoy how you can see that ray of sunshine in the last picture!

I'm kinda lazy but I'm trying to read back on what camera you ended up buying. Was it the Nikon D40??? I was going to get it for myself for Christmas but it was sold out so I ended up buying the first generation of the sony alpa cameras. DSLRs are freakin amazing!

The first picture was the result of the wrong white balance setting on my Canon S2 IS. I agree with the unnatural look of the snow but it definitely looked more interesting when it was contrasted to the warmer tones of the image beneath it. The second image was taken with my new Canon S5 that I got cheap on ebay. I can pretty much borrow my uncles D40 whenever I want, he might even give it to me in a year or so when he decides to upgrade. I'm in no rush to venture into DSLRs just yet (they are freakin amazing, though). It seems like way more camera than I'll ever know how to use.

The third pic was pure luck. She just happened to sit still long enough for me to snap the shot. I must say of all the hobbies I've had, photography has been the most fun to learn. It also compliments my other hobbies well; action shots of footbag, scale modeling or even taking landscapes while I'm out biking.

There has not been a post in my blog about me actually playing any kind of footbag since early January. I'm fine with that. This is a quote from a calligraphy assignment I did sophomore year in high school that's always stuck with me.
Barbara Kingsolver wrote:writing is a way of living in an imperfect world without having to suffer in silence
I used to keep a journal back in the day. It started as a writing assignment for some class in college then I got used to jotting down everyday things and continued to do entries well after school. I had quite a few entries detailing Worlds '99 here in Chicago and thought about typing them up in my blog. I think I would be way too embarrassed to have anyone read that, though. It would be interesting to go back and read them to see what my views of footbag were back then. My journals were way more personal and I don't think I could ever truly open myself up like that on a blog for all (3 of you) to read. All the bitching and moaning I do in here is nothing. It's just slowly releasing the pressures of everyday stress from work and people that I can't seem to avoid despite my sincerest efforts. I'm just wired that way.

I've mentioned it before but footbag is the main release for stress and also the cause for some of it. I play primarily for fun> but to do that I need to play with other people> people are a major source of stress for me. I just want to play and not be involved with other people's bullshit. This idea is in everything I do for my club, for footbag, everyone I associate myself with and all the things I've written about in my blog.

It's funny, as much as I hate other people's drama, I seem to be able to stir up quite a bit of it on my own   :)

Very cool man. I just got the camera last month so I haven't done too much with it. I've been taking pictures in RAW (which is always cool) since then and just YESTERDAY realized the camera has a built in function for when you DON'T take pictures in raw to automatically deal with contrast. So now I gotta try that out.

For me I mostly take pictures of my BMX, nature, and macro junk but I don't have a lenses for it yet. Cool with the scale modeling I see what you mean. I would take pictures of footbag but it's hard to take pictures of yourself! I got a reaaaally good price on the Sony but if the Sony and the Nikon d60 or whatever is compatible were the same price, I would have went with the other camera just because Sony isnt really popular with DSLRs. They are getting there though! It's cool that the camera itself has a image stabilization built in instead of having to buy a lenses for it.

I'm still trying to get one of my coworkers to cover for me that Saturday, Jeremy.

I printed up some pics last night and they're not bad looking. So now I can finally implement my plan of decorating LaRAZA with funny pics of the crooh. I want to print some of my work to purdy-up the bare walls of my room. There's also the 3 signed shirts from the WV Jam, SC Jam and NY Jam 2005 that I want to frame and hang.

Hm, there was so much more I wanted to blog but I can't seem to think of it now. I'll continue this later. I need to like, work.. er something right now.

Finally got to play some squares today @ Lane. Got off to shitty start but turned things up when we switched to playing with a Streetfighter. I handed Flatly a Last Man Standing win when I kicked the bag out of bounds and got at least 15 minutes of shit from all the other players, LOL. Won a game of 6 square by racking up 14 points in a row before getting killed and eventually winning a great round with Tom for game point. It was weird because I thought he killed me so I gave him props for the shot but he though he hit line and was getting props for a hard fought round. There was no confusion in 11-3 dismantling he handed me playing 2-square against him. He got cocky and compared art school to being broke and dirty again so I farted in his general direction the rest of the night while we hung out. Then I took a green shit. Take that, buddy!
