Edit: Didn't notice it was the top of the page. Here, this is to combat your cabage poncho bikini.

Then Reile called to see if I wanted to go to the Heiruspecs concert. Hells yeah! I love the Heiruspecs, for the last four years their music has always been there when I needed it. And I look damn sexy in the t-shirt I bought. The opening bands were interesting, too. I started getting into Agents of Change, but then they would do something awful, like this really bad freestyle the lead singer did. Basically a good hardcore band that isn't sure how to be a hip-hop band yet.

Abstract Giants were better than the last time I saw thim, but I still think the MCs aren't that great. They aren't all that distinct from the million other underground rappers, have very little stage presence, and when I can understand what they're saying its nothing notable. "Keep on moving in motion"? Uh, yeah, that's what movement is, dumbasses. Glue was good, I think he's really talented, but some of his lyrics are kind of corny IMO. And of course the Heiruspecs were fun to see again.
That was actually the first hip hop show I've been to. I was having a lot of trouble all night actually hearing what any of the MCs were saying, I don't know if it was the acoustics at the Abbey or my ears. So, lyrical content aside, I liked Abstract Giants the most. At first I didn't like the guy with the cartoon voice, but it kind of grew on me as their set went on. Some of the instrument solos were pretty fun too. I liked Glue, he has a vicious aggressive flow, which I tend to like, but with out being able to understand what he was saying a lot of his shit started sounding repetitive. His DJ was the shit though, I likes me a good turntablist! I kind of ruined Heiruspecs for myself though. I should have stayed up on the balcony where my frail old man legs could be slothful and rest. It was probably only hour of standing, but by the end my lower back was aching and I was getting sharp pains in my ankle for some reason. I'm such a weakling  . Oh well, at least the band was forced to share my discomfort when request after request for me to raise my fist was met with limp arms at my sides and a defiant head bob. They must have felt salty  . Anyway............ it was a fun show, I glad you came out with us Natedogg.

As for Cinco, I can't wait, my month long endeavor is almost ready to earn it's keep. I don't know if we can use Marianne's car or not yet. I didn't invite her cause I though it would be more fun if it was just the fellas, but I'd feel kind of like an ass if I asked her to miss a day of work so I can borrow the car and then tell her not to come with :? . Are there any other possibilities if we can't use it?

^ That's one possibility. Zeke is calling Meinard right now to see if he wants to go & that would be another car. Uhhhh... if that doesn't work, I will pay to rent a car, but someone else would need to drive. Not exactly sure how renting cars works - if a credit card is needed for instance. Has anybody rented a car before & can explain the process? Anyway, I'll pony up the cash if we can work out the details for renting.

I figured Marrianne would need her car for work, I totally hear you about wanting a dudes only thing. Get some of that fine Wisconsin poon on the side, kna'mean playa! Just kidding. All of the fine Wisconsin poon would just be my sloppy seconds.

I disgust myself sometimes. This is one of those times.

I liked the music of Abstract Giants a lot, not so much the rapping. The lack of violin may have changed my opinion about that... the first time I saw them, when they started hooking up their equipment, I was like "oh fuck, is Dave Matthews rapping now?" The acoustics are mostly the Abbey's fault I think. Even some of the best hip-hop I've seen there is hard to understand at times. And when you're hearing a band for the first time, even with the best acoustics its hard to hear what they're saying - but especially with really fast Hip Hop or mumblers like Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse.

Speaking of Moustaches, I trimmed mine up a little today. Its kinda lopsided - sparse on the left, fuller on the right. Even my moustache has a shitty weakside.

So if freestyle is relevant to moustaches, I'm assuming Henry will have a full on "its-a-me, Mario!" stache by next week. Also, Hitler-staches - offensive to all, or just offensive to some? Discuss.

Honestly I think most people would find the toothbrush (technical name of the Hitler-stashe, thank you wikipedia) comical more than anything, after all before Hitler tainted it, it was made popular by Charlie Chaplain. It would be pretty tough to go about a normal life wearing one though.

I started this poll on modified a long time ago, I think it's pretty relevant here

Hmmm. I'll also have to try that when I shave off this glorious lopsided stachola. I saw the "best response ever" people's court video in the youtube thread. OMFG I laughed my ass off.

"Moustache."

Its all coming full circle.

EDIT: Just thought of some things, as far as what we need to prepare for:

 Obviously the car situation is still being worked out, but we'll figure it out.
 Food/beverage - we should bring our own, or we could go to a grocery store in the area once we get to Wisconsin. It'll probably be more convenient to bring our own, better time management. But we're only like 20 or 30 minutes from a grocery store if we need to buy something once we get there. We don't need to bring a grill, we can run back to Beloit to get one once we're there, if nobody brings one.
 Alcoholic beverage - looks like BYOB as far as I know, there's been no further talk of kegs.
 Camping - Zeke said he'd look into borrowing a five or six person tent from his parents. That'd be key, I'm kind of counting on being able to use that. I'll also be buying a tent this week, cause it looks like there may be a little overflow. Peeps'll need to bring their own sleeping bags & pillows.
 Shred - like I said before, I may need to trim some weeds growing up through the cracks in the concrete, I'll be in touch with my WI friends to make sure I can borrow tools to do so, if the need arises. We'll want to bring footbags, foursquare court, takraw, shred clothes, etc. like we normally would.

Anything I'm forgetting or any questions? If so PM me or leave a comment here.

Well, I've got an appointment with my doctor today about the ankle. He sounded kinda pissed that I didn't follow up the day after the injury. If only I had a good reason for not following up... I haven't been very smart about this whole injury. I'll probably get crutches instead of this stupid air cast, though, so that's a plus. And I'll be leaving work early to get to the appointment, which is another plus.

Cinco

Nothing's changed. Waiting on three things. One - Meinard driving or not driving, if not driving then Two - renting car. Three, not sequentially dependent on One or Two - Kamil confirming if he's going or not.

Not to be a dick, but if its Thursday & these things are still up in the air then we'll be making the following assumptions: Meinard is not driving, and we'll need to rent a car; and Kamil is not going.

Thanks for letting me know, Zeke. I figured that would be the case. So car rental it is. That's cool, now we can stay for the bands, party & camping.

Four things:
-So where are we finna(yes, finna) meet up before we leave on Sat?

-I'll help chip in for the rental/gas money, seeing how I'm really not doing anything to help out.

-I cant find my plastic takraw

-my mustache has been growing 17 years for this...

I voted for you. I'm not sure I understood what was going on in your picture, but I voted for you. Was that Iron Man?

Injury update - grade 3 or 4 sprain, doctor thinks it'll be 3 to 4 weeks before I can "run and jump" again. So basically my tendons or ligaments or whatever tore beyond straining (which is basically a small tear) but didn't rupture. I've got some exercises to do, and an ankle brace. At least I'm out of the air cast.

Hoping to be back by the Birthday Jam... might try to hack a little at Cinco but even that might not be a good idea.

I felt like I was making good progress and getting closer to my footbag goals, so more than anything I'm frustrated the progress has stalled for now & won't resume until June, probably. I don't think I'll lose much, although I'm somewhat worried about cross-body tricks & ankle crank returning.

I'll edit this post with a Cinco update later today. Gots to get some work done.

At least we're all injured at the same time. :)
I'm liking that I don't have to plan things right now. I'm down for driving and killing a crazy hitchhiker when the time comes, but as of now, i feel like I have nothing to do for this trip but pack. let me know if i can do something.

EDIT.

So we're all meeting tomorrow (Thursday the 3rd) to discuss details? What time? From what Tom just told me via PM there may be another snag. We will want to verify that he can rent the car with his card, so we need to do that during normal business hours tomorrow or by the end of the day today.

Another EDIT. This has been the shittiest day of work. THE SHITTASTICULAREST.

EDIT EDIT EDIT. Don't wanna get fired for that shit.

Ah, symbolism. I was looking for some kind of narrative. Like a giant bird returns to her nest to find that Iron Man has shot her eggs with a laser beam and turned them into footbags... and now the bird and Iron Man must fight to the death over who gets the last donut.

I had briefly posted about how angry I was with certain coworkers, and of course these rants often turn to somewhat violent imagery, so I thought I should remove that. I've heard about people getting fired for doing that, even when its clearly a joke. So, yeah. Explosions of rage.

What time are we meeting tonight?

Early as possible will be about 12-1. Any earlier may not be cool with our host. PM either Nathan or I with a # we can call you at.

It's too bad my memory can only handle so much because it seems that for every one funny moment I can remember, there must be at least 3-4 that I miss.

"Chicago Injured Circle" = Gold  :D :) :D :)

next post should have a pic
