Underground hiphop
Any Eyedea fans?
Personaly I love him. He's not your average mc, and certanly not for everyone, but he has some incredibly deep lyrics along with some of the best battle raps you will hear. If you have not heard, I suggest checking out any one of his 3 albums. "1st born" and "The many faces of Oliver Heart" are is first two, and E&A is his latest release, which is a bit more on the battle rap side. Check it!

Hmmm... for old school you can always start with:Mirage wrote:I might be posting under wrong topic now, was just wondering if anybody has heard Black Moon, Das EFX or Goodie Mob. Please, post if you know some similar hip hop, I´m trying to find good old hip hop but don´t know where to start...
Afrika Bambaataa
Kool Herc
KRS ONE
Slick Rick
Run DMC
Audio Two
And for a more updated, smoother sound:
Black Star (or individually - Talib Kweli, Mos Def)
Outkast
De La Soul
Pharcyde
Tribe Called Quest
Camp Lo
Company Flow
Or you could do a pandora.com station based on the artists above & see what it brings back - although I personally haven't had much fun with pandora hip hop stations.
PS I used to love Atmosphere but now they just keep putting out the same bullshit on every cd. Its almost like Hot Topic hip hop. I still like Overcast and the Lucy Ford EPs, though I've noticed how much they 'borrowed' from De La Soul recently...
Wow, Slick Rick is my favorite atm.Frank_Sinatra wrote:Hmmm... for old school you can always start with:Mirage wrote:I might be posting under wrong topic now, was just wondering if anybody has heard Black Moon, Das EFX or Goodie Mob. I didn't instantly fall for any of those but after some while I started to like Pharcyde and Slick Rick
Btw: Pandora hasn't worked for 1 year soon? Am I wrong?
For me it says they had to stop because it was illegal or something.

I'm glad you like Slick Rick & The Pharcyde. Of all of the others I'd suggest Black Star the highest.
Just throwing another suggestion out there that popped into my head: The Perceptionists' Black Dialogue album is really good, too.
My firewall at work is now blocking Pandora, so I don't know if its still in business or not in the US. Apparently (according to a google search) they shut off access for everyone outside of the US back in May. Except for the UK, which shut down today. Sorry.
