Just curious, what shows do people plan on attending this year? Post the tour dates of the bands you like that you think other people should check out.

I've already seen:
-Elvis On Speed
-The Sword
so far this year. Both Austin bands, but The Sword will be doing a US/Europe tour.

Plus I plan on seeing Clutch, Five Horse Johnson and Fu Manchu when they come to town. I'm seriously considering going to Ozzfest since it's free, even though it will be in San Antonio and many of the bands will suck something awful. There will probably be tons of hack circles.

I'm lucky enough to live in the town where SXSW happens each year. It's pretty cool, but it just sucks how crowded things get.

Here are the tour dates for Clutch, Five Horse Johnson and Fu Manchu. CHECK THEM OUT.

I wasn't able to go to Ozzfest in 2006 due to the ticket costs. But this year it's FREE to get in so I am definitely going to that with an assload of friends. Provided it doesn't coincide with Worlds.

i want to see Fu Manchu but Larimer Lounge is 21+

Probably going to see TV on the Radio on the 10th.

I was going to go to Bonnaroo but I turned it down to go to this Music Production Workshop at Berklee.

Caught a couple of shows over the weekend. Plus I'll add a few notes about a Clutch show I caught back in March.

Clutch @ Emo's 3/10/07
7Habits wrote:I love the venue, but because the crowd is right up against the stage, Neil had a few funny comments to some of the drunks up front.
"Touch that guitar and I'll take care of you myself." "You can have your beer back now." (He said that to some guy during the encore. He had taken a beer out of his hand during the first song, because the dude was holding it over Tim's pedals).

Here is the setlist:
Profits
JWB
Sea Of Destruction
Beard
Gravel
Curandera W/ Ooze
White's Ferry W/ Ooze
Promoter
Pure Rock Fury
Opossum Minister
Regulator
Flannery
Texan W/ Ooze
Cypress W/ Ooze
Black Umbrella W/ Eric
Electric Worry W/ Eric
One Eye Dollar
Mr. Shiny Caddy

Encore:
Marcus
Who's Been Talking
That show was frickin' awesome. Here is a slideshow:
-----------------------------
Caught Fu Manchu on Friday night 4/6
Iron Clad Ben wrote:This was also my first Fu Manchu show despite that I've been listening to them on and off for 10 years. Something always happens where I don't end going. In this case I ALMOST missed it because of some bullshit but ended up getting to go.

Seemless: These guys were pretty good. Pretty standard stoner rock sound. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. I might pick up their disc some time.

Valient Thorr: These guys were something else. Holy shit. I read somewhere else they a Viking band or something, but that was not it at all. They looked like Blind Melon, all with long hair except for one balding dude and no man's beard was shorter than 8 inches. The lead singer talked between songs like he was a serious Jack Black. They sounded somewhere The Stooges, Van Halen and Black Sabbath. "Hello we are Valient Thorr from inside the Planet Venus!!! I remember them saying. I think they must smoke about a pound and a half of crack a week. I was skeptical at first but by the time the set was over with such an antics as getting everyone in the crowd to down one knee and telling them everyone who was still standing were people who thought they were better than everyone else. After all that when all was said and done they had really rocked people's asses off. Hell of a live show.

Fu Manchu
Setlist as I remember:

Pigeon Toe
Laserbl'ast!
Redline
Hung Out To Dry
Boogie Van
Eatin' Dust
Saturn III (10 minute Hawkwind-esque extended version, got my nut here)
Hell on Wheels
Super Bird
We Must Obey
Grendel, Snowman
Sensei Vs. Sensei (gheighest Fu Manchu song EVER)
Evil Eye
King of the Road

Encore:
Mongoose
Godzilla

Some of the new songs sounded alright. Sensei vs. Sensei was the lamest song ever. Most notably they played NOTHING from Start the Machine which I think was definitely a good choice since that album sucked giant donkey balls. The live version of Saturn III was fucking off the hook. Considerably better than even the live version on the "Go For It!" Double CD. That was worth my $12.50 alone.

I was definitely impressed. Check them out if they come to your town. Even if you're a fan who doesn't like the new stuff, they play plenty of the old stuff, and they definitely still know how to put on a live show.

Elvis On Speed / Iron Clad, Saturday 4/7
Iron Clad Ben wrote:Caught another show tonight.

Iron Clad (yes! there is now a band called "Iron Clad" apparently! :))
Elvis On Speed
Teabag*
Superheavy Goatass*

*did not see

Iron Clad: Well, it was pretty awesome that there is a with this name. They ripped pretty hard. www.myspace.com/ironcladtexas I told them how "Iron Clad" was my nickname and they were pretty stoked. Pretty much heavy rock and roll with some really good riffs and pedal action from their guitar player.

Elvis On Speed These guys fucking rule. I can't say enough about them. Southern Rock with serious riffs. Their live shows are awesome. I've probably seen them at least 10 times now.

www.myspace.com/elvisonspeed <=== Clicky
www.elvisonspeed.com

They aren't really touring outside Texas much, but if they do I will definitely post dates. These guys know what Rock n Roll is. Check out their songs on their myspace page for some song samples. They can do everything from the all out jam to the rock ballad.

Does any of this shit make sense? My gf drove me home and I am pretty drunk.

i would absolutely be going to coachella if there were more than like 2 non-shiTtacular bands playing.

TV on the Radio was fucking amazing. going to concerts alone kind of blows though. I probably won't go to any more concerts this year.

Caught the Armor For Sleep, Underoath, Taking Back Sunday show on March 29th for my birthday at Arrow Hall in Mississagua didn't watch Armor for sleep as we got there just for the start of Underoaths set, good show overall.
Went to the Horseshoe Tavern in downtown Toronto for a free show on April 3rd. Band line up included The Holy Fields (didnt watch them) Aqueduct (Who I went for and met the whole band, super nice guys) and I forget the name of the headlining band they were from Australia not very good but their drummer was tight.

Anyone going to bonnaroo? The Police are gonna be there! Lol. I don't think I could go to anything that huge though. You can't sleep there's so much noise. I used to go to a lot of smaller fests though. The All Good Festival started near me years and years ago, and now it's pretty big. I want to hit a west coast fest here sometime. In the redwoods.

Thus ending the "who is the biggest RATM fan in footbag" debate once and for all.

Seriously how many footbag events can you organise? How many times will you get to see Rage play live?

I definitely would have gone to the concert if I had the money, and if another one is announced more than 3 months after July (when I get my tax return), I'll be there.

GAAAA. I'm so jealous. I want to see Modest Mouse again... Also want to see Beastie Boys but tickets last time were so much money.

I'm going to Bjork tomorrow night. $70. Most I've ever spent on a single concert ticket. It used to be a matter of principle (or justification of a behavior necessitated by being broke) not to go to a show that cost more than $30 to get in. Whatever, I've already got the ticket & it'll be awesome.

It was fucking awesome. Bjork with lasers and pyrotechnics... oh my god. Army of Me was so cool.

My new apartment is close to the Abbey Pub in Chicago, so I'll probably start going to way more concerts there. So excited.
