Hi Dave, congrats on Euros and whatnot. Anywho, I saw this video and it reminded me of your magic jazz.

You've probably already seen it, but either way it seemed like your kinda thing.
Good luck at Worlds!

No write up of Europe yet, but I imagine it will come through one day soon. For now, I am in Nevada, 2,400 miles into my cross country trip. It is quite crazy to see the country like this. It makes me realize just how big the United States is. It is great to start the morning looking at a city, spend lunch looking at corn and grass, and then check into a hotel with mountains looming in the distance.
I have taken some pictures and thought you might like to look at them. Nothing too interesting, as I am not really doing too much touristy stuff on my trip. Highlights so far have been spending a night in Pittsburgh with a guy I used to work at American Eagle with, running around Chicago in the rain with my friend from school, footbag with Zach Miley, visiting Notre Dame's campus, and seeing the salt flats in Utah. There are a lot of state parks and such, but I just don't have the time right now to go to them, as I want to get to San Fran a few days before worlds and be moved in and settled before everyone starts coming in for the tournament. I'll elaborate on my travels more in the future, but for now, enjoy some of my pictures.

me with my car packed. not sure why i am slouching.

great plains in nebraska

salt flats in utah, hour outside salt lake

me on the salt
That's that! Onward!

Well, here I am sitting in my room on a Sunday morning in the apartment in the bottom of Goldberg’s house that is now rented by me. It has been an interesting past few weeks with Worlds and then my girlfriend coming here from Boston. I had a good time hanging out with everyone at worlds and competing. I am happy with the results and proudly display 2 golds and a silver on my wall. I had a lot of positive feedback from people about my game and I am so happy that I inspire people to excel at their hobby. Thank you to all who messaged me with kind words.
I spent this morning watching old Jorden Moir videos because every time I play I build a great appreciation for his game and his style of play. When I try to play like him it is a different kind of work out, no longer physical, but more mental because I am trying to make new combos on the spot. It is odd, but for me things like smudge>quantum ss clipper>dyno is a lot harder to think up and execute than some standard combo like fury>fusion. I really enjoy the mental workout I get from doing unique links of moves. While I didn’t show this kind of stuff at worlds, it is something that I am working on during my own time. It results in a different kind of session that I enjoy very much. I encourage everyone to try this out: while you are playing, do your normal stuff, but on one of the tricks (say, blur) try to think of a trick you never see done out of blur. It doesn’t have to be crazy hard, just sitting here I can say that I rarely see blur>tapping osis. It’s just as easy as blur>legbeater but way less common. Doing this with harder tricks can result in really interesting stuff (say, Frankenstein>gyro egg). This is the kind of style that I would like to adopt.
I begin work tomorrow at Google. It will be an interesting experience, but I am looking forward to it. I cannot believe that I am already done with 4 years of university, my Europe trip, worlds, etc. Time really does fly. Seeing those Jorden videos from 05 made me freak when I realized that was 5 years ago already. Watching as players who started when I was guiltless (like Milan and Norek) do so well at worlds makes me feel like a veteran and I’m only 22. Crazy.
My last note is about what my next video will be like. I feel that footbag videos perhaps should go the way of skateboarding, where multiple sessions make up a video. I think that for my next video I will film for a month and take the absolute best runs from each session and mix them. I think that most videos I see nowadays could be summarized in just a few lines or combos. I know that having a 10 minute video from one session shows how consistent you are, but I think 3 minutes of insanity might be a little bit better. We shall see. I am hoping work does not engulf my life and that I can still play at least twice a week. Only time will tell.
Hope all is well on your end.

I am excited to hear that you will be sharing with us shred that challenges you and that is your peak. I am also excited that you are actively concentrating on mental and creative opportunities within your game. It seems apparent that you have been doing that in the last year and the end-result is incredible and inspiring.
Thanks for being awesome, Dave.
