re: Gödel, Escher, Bach — there is an insight for every perspective on the world of learning (the biologist, the artist, the physicist etc.). It all comes back to the concept of the strange loop and its appearance in almost every facet of nature. But the mathematician already knows this as iteration, or fractals. Good luck in your search!
