The reason for Bush's re-election

I think the main reason for this re-election was because the majority of Americans are really into this war on terrorism. It makes them feel safer about their own country because, I believe they believe that, while America attacks the middle-east, the middle-east will not be able to mount an offense against Americans on their own soil. While this is a generalization I am about to make I will say it anyways... There are some moronic Americans that vote for Bush for stupid reasons such as: I think he is a good man, he has a firm handshake, he does what he says he is going to do. These reasons have soooo little to do with politics I cannot help but think that some (but definately not all) of the people in the USA are just ignorant, uneducated fools.

I also believe with this re-election there will undoubtedly be another attempted imposition of democracy (war) on another country; either Syria, Iran or North Korea. There have been ongoing conflicts with all 3 of these nations and the by voting Bush into office again *sigh* the people obviously want another glorious battle, by which they can make themselves feel like heroes. I really hope that they do not to attack North Korea, we are talking about a country with an actual military capable of fighting back to an extent way more successfully than the weak nations of Afghanistan or Iraq, who have jack-shit as far as defense goes. And also if there are attacks on N.Korea, there will most definately be casualties in nearby S.Korea as well as Japan which would be terrible.

All-in-all, the people of America are getting what they deserve, if their majority are ignorant enough to vote for a man who should be locked away for committing atrocious war crimes than they rightly deserve to be stuck with him. Too bad this will have detrimental effects on many other countries including Canada. USA and Canadian were in talks about giving Bombardier (a Canadian transport company) exclusive rights to build some sort of crazy, high tech speed train system in our 2 countries; however, Bush was against this idea. Think of how good this would have been for the Canadian economy!

Well on the plus side he can't win for a 3rd time, and I have even heard speculation that Senator Hilary Clinton may be the next democratic presedential canditate. While, I'm not sure how good of an idea this would be, I love the Clintons anyways.

I interpreted that to mean it was crushed, and then maybe came back a little?

I see the surrendering of monetary and other vital national policies to the EU from member nations.

First a nation gives up their currency, then their banks,then their borders. What's left? Nothing

It's a slippery slope, Europe wont be made up of nations at all, just cogs in a bureacracy, controlled by un-elected leaders in a faraway places.

And when unnecissary fiscal policy and arbitrary lines on a map are discarded all you are left with is humanity and that's a noble goal in my opinion.

Personally I don't think people say to themselves:

"I love my country because our currency is good and we have friendly banks and pretty border fences"

Call me naive if you like: but I don't think currency, banks and borders are what makes people love their country. I love my country. I love it for its people and its environment and culture. I think those three things - environment, culture and people - are what most people love about their country (if they love their country).

Do you care about your exclusive and personal relationship with God more than you do about his admonition to care for the poor and the weak ?

Naw, I wasn't saying that those things make people love the country, but that those things help make up the country.
I said banks because they will have to surrender their currency controls to some central power.

I could be mistaken, their new constitution is large and vague. How much control they give up is probably for lawyers to decide.

I guess I'll toss my 2 cents into the fold...

I love my country in a sense that I have met a lot of people across different states who are extremely thoughtful and generous and what have you. Anyone who has taken a road trip through America can't help but love it in a way.

Now, their are two kinds of love. Their is the wya a little child loves mom, and cannot see any faults in their mother. Their love exists no matter what unquestionably.

The latter form of love, is more mature and is more like a husband-wife relationship. You love eachother despite some quite apparent faults, and want to work to make your spouse a better person.

I think you can guess which form of love I adhere to.

i am a patriot. and because of that, i don't like george bush.

patriotism is all about rooting for your COUNTRY, not for your president!

and if i believed that the president was going in the right direction for the country, i would root him too. but i can't this time.
