Thanks Ken. My knees are feeling better :)

I just wanted to give an update on my situation. I've written one diploma - an essay for Social - so far and have a Chemistry diploma to write Thursday and my Math diploma on Friday. From there, I don't have to go back to school until Thursday where I write my Social pt B diploma. I'm going to bring my shred gear to school on those days and kick to pass the time.

Just recently I picked up a new pair of shred shoes. They are Nike Max Air Zavilles running shoes. The modifications I've performed so far is making a clipper rail out of shoe goo and a pricetag from my Clima Responces, I cut away some of the fabric on the inside surfaces, and just yesterday I cut out some fabric on the inside part of the ankle to help allow more ankle crankage - alomst like a brocka mod except the fabric was from inside and doesn't look ugly.

The result is a pair of $130 shoes that are lighter than my Lavers, offer superior cushioning/shock absorption, and have so much more grip than the Rod Lavers. There isn't a definied toe box like the Lavers, instead it's a really light/thin fabric that goes over your toes which makes toe delaying really tricky - the only bad thing I've found about it thus far. However, it can be overcome if you just perform your dexterities a bit faster to allow that tiny extra amount of time to cushion the bag.

A really good, but expensive, shoe which only really needs a clipper rail. The other mods I performed were primarily small ones like cutting off large Nike symbols and a little thing on the toe area.

Whoa!

Slick kicks, they look totally shreddable!

Let us know if they perform well.

I was looking at some of those in Footlocker a couple of weeks ago. They were a slightly different model of Max Airs than those, but pretty similar. Between the leather strips, it's the thinnest fabric I've ever felt on a shoe. Definitely an easy mod to remove the strips. Can't wait for your thoughts.

Well I think I'm going to make the permanent switch from Lavers to the Nikes for one main reason - it offers so much more support. Yes, the toe box may not be as good but, in all honesty, when I switch from Nikes to Lavers it feels like I'm playing on a piece of wood that's strapped to the bottom of my foot.

With that said, I did do one more mod after I took those pics. Basically it's a broka mod and now the shoes feel a lot better. Once they break in more, these shoes are going to kick so much ass.

Alright, so this session my knees felt really good which is both good and bad. It's bad because when they feel good I usually go too hard which results in them hurting again. Tonite was no exception, unfortunately, but I'm going to take the next day or two off again.

Aaaaaaanyways, tonite was really good for me. I enjoyed it a lot. About 20 minutes into the session I hit Symp Eggbeater on both sides, which is uncanny because I never do Flails and I've only hit weakside Flail maybe about 5 times before? Crazy.

I also hit WEAKSIDE RIPPED WARRIOR first attempt this session! Woah! That was so weird, but soooo cool. I grabbed the bag, flexed every muscle in my upper body and was doing Hulk smashes in the air. I also had Spiked Hammer off my foot on both sides! Woaaaaaaaaaaah!

What else went down. Oh yes, prior to hitting that Ripped Warrior I did 8 contacts of Sidewalk > Ripwalk. Even after such a long time of not doing stepping sets I seem to have gotten them back fairly quickly, which is great.

I also hit Far Rev. Swirl both sides - it feels like a Far Butterfly Rev. Swirl without the first dex. For a while I was hitting Rev. Swirls all over the place. Then I somehow made the transition to stepping sets.

So yeah, that's about it. I did a lot of kicking inbetween diploma exams at school today and impressed a fuckload of circle kickers. Actually, I was probably going too hard then as well - before I was adequately warmed up I was trying DSOs, Fusions and Smogs for people. Not good at all. I had some nice long tiltless runs though, and even a run that was fairly choreographed to my friend's guitar which was completely improvised.

Tonite was pretty good. My knees didn't hurt during or after the session, which I'm totally stoked about! It even makes up for the fact that one of my clipper rails on the Nikes is half off from the last session. A quarter of a huge ass tube in for each should do the trick :)

The highlight of this session was hitting Bedwetter on both sides for the first time. Yay! Other fivers I hit this session were Fog, Phoenix, Pdx Torque and Mobius. All both sides, of course. I tried Blurry Torque for the cam but for a few reasons I didn't go for it too much. I was happy with footing it.

I worked DLOs for the most part this session. Around fifteen or so contacts of Butterfly > Pdx Mirage > DLO. I tried going for Butt > Pdx Illusion > Eggbeater but I need to work the Illusions again a bit.

Dimwalk > Pdx DLO > Dimwalk on both sides... Heh... I don't know what to say now. I need to get start drilling better. I also need to do it harder to get my game back up to what it used to be.

Alright, if you read the 'New Moves' thread then you know how sweet this session at the YMCA was. It was, in my opinion, the best shred session I've ever had. No joke, I was shredding with 4 other people in such a great environment - one that was PERFECT for footbag! There was virtually no shadows on the hardwood floor, you had mirrors all around you, a speaker system set up completely around the room, a drinking fountain AND windows/doors that allowed passerbys the opportunity to check out footbag. It doesn't get any better than that.

Anyways, the Edmonton crew had a demonstration at this YMCA to promote footbag. A lot of people were wowed and left with their mouths open (in amazement). I think we also found a few people who have a future with footbag, but we shall find out next time. Props goes out to the guys for being such good teachers!!

So anywho, I met Ben Cochrane (sp?) and he's one of the funnest people to ever be around. He mostly plays net, but he has style oozing out of him when he kicks. Swirl ending on a Dragon anyone?!?!?! Yeah, that's what I thought! He and I had a lot of kicking time together, which was great because we got to know each other real well. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but we were kicking in a 2 man circle and for some odd reason I tried Symp Whirling Swirl (I can't remember what made me want to try it) and had it off my foot. Ben was stoked and proceeded to hit it in the first few attempts! I gave him some sugar, then I proceeded to hit it right after!! Then this is where his style comes in - he goes and hits Symp Whirling Swirl ENDING ON A FUCKEN DRAGON!! No way! It was crazy smooth! And he made it seem soooo effortless too! A few minutes later after Kevin got a drink we told him about it and soon after he too hit Symp Whirling Swirl! WHAT THE FUCK>!>!

Bitchin!

Within the first 30 min or so, Kevin and I were kicking together and he was doing some Whirls (he's going to be such a hein shredder once his clipper game gets better!), which got me thinking of how I never hit Blurry Whirl b2b. I gave it a few attempts but sure enough it was there! Kevin confirmed the cleanliness of it, and I was stoked.

I hit Atomic Torque in another 2 man circle, but this time it was with Rory. That kid is getting so much better! He's so smooth as well, all his tricks just stand out so well. Anyways, weakside it feels so weird but I did manage to have it off my foot on that side. Perhaps next time.

I hit Peglegbeater again tonite, this time it was in front of a huge crowd of kids and all eyes were on me. Talk about pressure! We were explaining Warp, Warped set and Peglegbeater to this kid and he kept telling his friends about it and asking me to do it for them. I thought that was so cool that he was interested.

I'm doing a good job with starting my paragraphs with the 'I hit...' phrase.

I hit Double Spinning Clipper for the first time in front of my father, who drove me out there in crazy stupid weather conditions (it was raining and below freezing point :() and stayed for 3 hours just for me! I love my parents. Anyways, everyone else was standing around (at this point most of hte kids had left) and I was in the center of the room and hit it. I then turned to my dad and said "I've never hit that one before!". I hit it again for the guys and we all rejoiced at such crazy passion of spinning.

For the most part I was doing some really good runs. Most weren't too long, but the odd few were. I was especially proud of a pixie, stepping and atomic shuffle run I did. It was perhaps... 15 or so contacts but what was so great about it was I wasn't thinking of what tricks I wanted to do - it was completely improvised. Others were pretty short, but I did managed to hit Vortex bsos in frotn of Ben (in one of our 2 man circles) and Blender bsos when we were warming up. When Kevin and I were kicking together I had a run that ended with Ripped Warrior. I think I tried it before in that same run but bailed to a toe delay, but the next one was the finisher.

In the final minutes, Rory, Kevin and I were kicking together and Kevin asked for Montage. It wasn't the best - the duck didn't feel there - but it was hit... unsealed. First attempt though, which was plain crazy.

OH! Before I forget, in the opening of the session I hit Whirlwind for a few kids, went into a string with it and then funked up on the other side.

Alright, that's out of the way... and I think that's pretty much what happened to me. It was such a great experience. I wish I could sum up what went down for everyone, but I'm so tired right now. I took painkillers for my left knee (which I funked up on Thursday playing basketball) so I know I won't be in great shape tomorrow morning. I still need to stretch as well. Good thing it's Friday - that means porn will be on. I think I'll stretch and watch that  . Ah good times. Then I'll eat another banana. Bananas are good.

After two days of rest from that session, my knees are feeling great. I was still sore in some places but I decided to go kick. A good 3 hour session today.

I drilled DLOs for a good portion of the session. I managed DLO and Pdx DLO bsos, and Pdx DLO > DLO bs but in seperate strings. I also drilled my weakside Gyro DLO and hit that and Pdx DLO in the same string. I hit it again on the other side in a different string later on.

Towards the end of the session I went for some combos and managed to hit Atom Smasher > DLO > Atom Smasher > DLO > Atom Smasher & DLO > Smear > Atom Smasher > DLO > Smear > Atom Smasher first attempts. I wanted to try to put a Magellan infront of the DLO but couldn't complete the drill. Next time.

Time to go dip me legs in a tub of cold water now since my father will be occupying the computer/office space.

My left knee and right calf have been acting up for most of this week due to basketball during gym class. Actually, the pain in my calf was a result of all the DLO work done in the session posted above.

Anyways, I've had 3 sessions since and it feels as though my knees are getting better (watch, on Monday they will be hurting again) and my calf only hurts once I start jumping off/landing on my toes a lot. Rest is needed.

Two things that I have been thinking of lately - I should consider a 2 week resting period for my legs to heal. I don't want that, but perhaps it's best. That would also include taking it easy in gym class (about as possible as not thinking of footbag :? ) and getting a lot of sleep. The payout would be worth it though...

The second thing I've been thinking about is the continuation of my blog. Well, I know I will keep on using it, but it's just posting about my footbag progress that I've been thinking about. Not many people seem to check it out, which has me wondering just how many care of whatever goes down my way. That said, I don't want to feed an apathetic crowd.

Next week I only have 3 days of school, thank God, and on Thursday/Friday I'm going to see if I can go to E-town and play some hardcore novice net with Ben and perhaps Rory. I would really like to learn, since I enjoy playing badminton and used to play volleyball (this just seems to fit the bill nicely). Maybe, just maybe, some freestyle if my legs feel up for it.

I don't mean to sound like an asshole James but the difference between 3k and 2.6k is quite large. And thanks Szymon - I was only writing my thoughts but I appreciate the support. Your blog rocks, and I also get a lot of inspiration from reading it :D

I've been feeling pretty bummed because I can't / shouldn't / am trying not to shred. I totally want to be like Mr. Erickson and feel that incredible shredding experience just waiting to engulf me. It must be a fantastic feeling and I envy him a lot for it :P . I can't wait to read what goes down in Oregon (Random thought: It's such a beautiful state - have you guys been to Mt. Hood by any chance? I would like to go and check it out again sometime in the near future. Also, Aget (sp?) Beach was a dissappointment. My family and I have collected hundreds of agets through the years ranging from as small as a grain of rice (I found that one :D) to about 2/3 the size of my palm (I also found that one :D ). We didn't find any on the beach :().

I had a kick this evening just because it feels like I haven't been doing a lot of physical activity these days. It went fairly well. My mother picked me up a knee brace and so far it works great. I think I'll give her some money to pick me up another one for the other knee. Mmm... support...

Back to the session - it was pretty good. I hit a few new links, got a record and now feel confident with spinning out of Osis. I also hit a new 5 add which I never thought of before, one that isn't hard on the knees and is oh so stylie. In no particular order:

Gyro (no plant) Blender bs
Spinning Osis x 7
Peeking Osis > Spinning Osis > Peeking Osis > Spinning Osis
Peeking Osis > Spinning Osis > Spinning Osis (bs)
Ducking Osis > Spinning Osis > Ducking Osis (bs)
Ducking Osis > Ducking Clipper > Spinning Clipper (so close to bsos)

And what I was most proud of...

Spinning Clipper > Far Osis > Spinning Osis > Gyro Clipper > Osis > Spinning Clipper > Far Osis > Spinning Osis > Gyro Clipper > Osis (> Spinning Clipper > run with Peeking Osis bs)

Right now my calf hurts more than anything. It's hard not to irritate it, so this weekend will probably be the time for restage.

Woah, almost knocked to page 2! I guess I better get my act together

I had two sessions - one yesterday and one this afternoon. Yesterday was pretty decent and was spent basically getting my groove back. Today was a good day. Nothing too hard on the knees (which are feeling a lot stronger by the way) and nothing straining the calf (which is also feeling better).

I guess the only thing that is worth posting are these:

Osis > Mobius bs
Spinning Osis > Mobius bs
Spinning Osis > Torque bs
Torque > Mobius

I also had a 5 > 5 > 5 off my foot on the third attempt. Craziness - that would have been my second 5 addx3 combo ever. EVER!

A good, mellow session this evening. My knees and calf feel good enough that I did a few sets. Not too many, but still it's an improvement. Hurrah for healing!

Not much to report, though I hit a few new linkies and one new trick - oh oh oh oh! The pic in my sig is actually me landing that trick! Kevin spotted how I looked when he went through it frame by frame and we both thought it had quite the hilarity factor to it. So much so, I just had to put it in my sig. 8)

Anywho, the new trick was Spinning Double Switch. Kinda like a Merkon with a double dex. Oh, and when I said new linkies, I totally meant one new link. Sorry.

Spinning Osis > Pdx Drifter bs (new)
Drifter > Pdx Drifter bs

I didn't want to go all out with Driftes, just because at some point they were putting stress on my knees so I took it easy. Oh, and a pretty nifty combo I hit first attempt:

Eggplant > Eggplant > Eggbeater

I would like to add a few more tricks on to that to make it sexified for the cameras on Friday. Woooooot! Friday!

You look really hung in your sig. Does that get in the way of double over motions?

Good to see you so enthused on the footbag, and skoolin both sides. I`m also a big fan of big tricks, but I found I enjoyed footbag in a different way once I started doing longer strings. How`s your string length?

Finally, regarding the continuation of your blog: just ask yourself why you keep a blog. If the answer is `to get a lot of views,` then its probably best that you end your blog. Or just make it completely random and unrelated to footbag. But yeah, if you want a blog to record your progress, then keep it as it is. Don`t sweat the views, they don`t matter.

Keep the faith. :)
