Alright, if you read the 'New Moves' thread then you know how sweet this session at the YMCA was. It was, in my opinion, the best shred session I've ever had. No joke, I was shredding with 4 other people in such a great environment - one that was PERFECT for footbag! There was virtually no shadows on the hardwood floor, you had mirrors all around you, a speaker system set up completely around the room, a drinking fountain AND windows/doors that allowed passerbys the opportunity to check out footbag. It doesn't get any better than that.
Anyways, the Edmonton crew had a demonstration at this YMCA to promote footbag. A lot of people were wowed and left with their mouths open (in amazement). I think we also found a few people who have a future with footbag, but we shall find out next time. Props goes out to the guys for being such good teachers!!
So anywho, I met Ben Cochrane (sp?) and he's one of the funnest people to ever be around. He mostly plays net, but he has style oozing out of him when he kicks. Swirl ending on a Dragon anyone?!?!?! Yeah, that's what I thought! He and I had a lot of kicking time together, which was great because we got to know each other real well. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but we were kicking in a 2 man circle and for some odd reason I tried Symp Whirling Swirl (I can't remember what made me want to try it) and had it off my foot. Ben was stoked and proceeded to hit it in the first few attempts! I gave him some sugar, then I proceeded to hit it right after!! Then this is where his style comes in - he goes and hits Symp Whirling Swirl ENDING ON A FUCKEN DRAGON!! No way! It was crazy smooth! And he made it seem soooo effortless too! A few minutes later after Kevin got a drink we told him about it and soon after he too hit Symp Whirling Swirl! WHAT THE FUCK>!>!
Bitchin!
Within the first 30 min or so, Kevin and I were kicking together and he was doing some Whirls (he's going to be such a hein shredder once his clipper game gets better!), which got me thinking of how I never hit Blurry Whirl b2b. I gave it a few attempts but sure enough it was there! Kevin confirmed the cleanliness of it, and I was stoked.
I hit Atomic Torque in another 2 man circle, but this time it was with Rory. That kid is getting so much better! He's so smooth as well, all his tricks just stand out so well. Anyways, weakside it feels so weird but I did manage to have it off my foot on that side. Perhaps next time.
I hit Peglegbeater again tonite, this time it was in front of a huge crowd of kids and all eyes were on me. Talk about pressure! We were explaining Warp, Warped set and Peglegbeater to this kid and he kept telling his friends about it and asking me to do it for them. I thought that was so cool that he was interested.
I'm doing a good job with starting my paragraphs with the 'I hit...' phrase.
I hit Double Spinning Clipper for the first time in front of my father, who drove me out there in crazy stupid weather conditions (it was raining and below freezing point

) and stayed for 3 hours just for me! I love my parents. Anyways, everyone else was standing around (at this point most of hte kids had left) and I was in the center of the room and hit it. I then turned to my dad and said "I've never hit that one before!". I hit it again for the guys and we all rejoiced at such crazy passion of spinning.
For the most part I was doing some really good runs. Most weren't too long, but the odd few were. I was especially proud of a pixie, stepping and atomic shuffle run I did. It was perhaps... 15 or so contacts but what was so great about it was I wasn't thinking of what tricks I wanted to do - it was completely improvised. Others were pretty short, but I did managed to hit Vortex bsos in frotn of Ben (in one of our 2 man circles) and Blender bsos when we were warming up. When Kevin and I were kicking together I had a run that ended with Ripped Warrior. I think I tried it before in that same run but bailed to a toe delay, but the next one was the finisher.
In the final minutes, Rory, Kevin and I were kicking together and Kevin asked for Montage. It wasn't the best - the duck didn't feel there - but it was hit... unsealed. First attempt though, which was plain crazy.
OH! Before I forget, in the opening of the session I hit Whirlwind for a few kids, went into a string with it and then funked up on the other side.
Alright, that's out of the way... and I think that's pretty much what happened to me. It was such a great experience. I wish I could sum up what went down for everyone, but I'm so tired right now. I took painkillers for my left knee (which I funked up on Thursday playing basketball) so I know I won't be in great shape tomorrow morning. I still need to stretch as well. Good thing it's Friday - that means porn will be on. I think I'll stretch and watch that

. Ah good times. Then I'll eat another banana. Bananas are good.
