Okay, so what did you miss? Alot. Unfortunately, I was so busy that I missed alot too.
Here's what I didn't miss.
Jim Penske (aka Captain Morgan
) hitting Nemesis right in front of my face.
Penske busting out sick strings of the most difficult shuffle.
Penske (at my request) hitting Ripstein > Superfly > Followed by something equally as sick, but I can't remember it because shock and awe set it after the Superfly.
Evan Gatesman busting Zoid set Mullet for his Sick Trick competition, then busting it again when I told him the duck wasn't clean enough. Major Props to Evan for standing up to the challenge.
Loren Baum smoking the Toe Shuffle. His game is totally off the hook. Not just toe either, he was busting some phat strings in general, but his toe stuff was just beauty to behold.
Mike Hansen fixed my computer... MAD PROPS.
Daryl busted the Pixie op Pickup record
Penske busted the Swirl record with 55
.
Lon Smith was just incredible to watch. Here's a guy who took the last month off to nurse a knee injury, only to lay down some of the sickest shred I've ever seen.
We're talking (regularly) 50 plus strings. Sunday night it was more like 80 plus strings. I do believe he had a 97 contact string at the end that just totally blew us all away.
One very memorable run included both Fairie DOD and Fairie Paradon BSOS
.
HE had another awesome run that started with 4 Mobius' (mobi-i?) followed by utter sickness, but of course the mobius' made the rest hard to follow.
Lon and I also had a circle (mmm a line I supposed) where we got 2 figure 8 pendulums and another circle/line where we got over 20+ hacks before Penske jumped in and ruined it
By far, the Sleeper Shredder award goes to Luis Monhollon. This guy shows up out of Tulsa, OK where he kicks all by himself and just lays down some of the most fluid style I've seen since...dare I say... Peter Irish.
At fist glance you think he only hits spinning clippers and butterflies, but then he busts out some leggy style moves like pdx eggbeater, DLOs, bubba beaters, etc...
No joke, Luis was awesome to watch, everything he hit had such fluidity and grace. My favorite thing was that he hit just about every variation of Corkscrew as regular parts of his runs.
Let's not forget Nate Linscott. I mean Holy Shit. He can hit SO Friggin MUCH and he hits it all every single run for 30+ contacts each time. Every time you think his run is over, he catches the bag and does 10 more tricks at least. He's really incredible to behold. His game has improved a ridiculous amount since worlds.
And don't forget me... well actually do. The only great thing I did, was to finally hit Symposium Twirl after 4 years of trying. The shitty thing is that I wasn't able to seal it
