Removal of first eyelet=more clipper flatness?
has anyone else noticed that by removing the first eyelet of the rod laver shoe that one's ability to achieve flatter clippers greatly increases??? It does for me anyway.

Yeah, but only because I laced them up normally after I did this, so the top of my foot has more resistance, which flattens out the sole and the whole outside surface more, rather than the lower tongue, or "knuckle" part of your foot, because previously there were no laces there, due to the toe wall lacings.

I believe he is talking about the topmost eyelet.
The arc of my broka mod sliced off the first eyelet on my climas. I have done this on my lavers in the same way.
You can feel the tendon/bonething that presses against the shoe, ankle movement is restricted at the point where the shoe presses against that tendon.
This mod helps mostly in the sense of getting your heel down and your toes up, not so much in the rolling over sideways sense, the other part of the broka mod is for that.
And it doesn't matter if it's leather or mesh.

No, I am talking about the lowest eyelet, the eyelet you'd cut off to open up the toe box. When I did this, I could much more easily attain crank by "knuckling" my toes. It helps to create a flatter stalling surface by elevating the toe region in relation to the heel.

After Modifications on 3 different kinds of shoes and over 12 pair of Lavers I've found the best mods is leaving al the eyelets but cutting off as much of the wings as I can without cutting the eyelet. It helps my Fairy and Pxie but leaves my clipper unchanged.
However, cutting out the inside layer of canvas on the inside surface panel and outside surface panel gives the shoe a tighter more comfortable fit that helps me be able to curl my toes more forcing the inside surface to flatten out more.
I vote no.
