I see it as a simple question to see everyone's opinion, it's not meant to solve anything. I agree on competition, I'm not one for competitions, more on the lines of shred. There is quite the obvious skill levels we all see in everyone, right now it's just crazy to see someone with Jorden's skill level rise so fast, and to be questioning Vasek's supremacy over freestyle footbag. I'm not pushing those two into battle to see who will play better or win next Worlds, I don't really care who wins routines, I just want to see those two playing in the same circle to see how they push eachother's levels. It's natural to have a competitive tendancy.

Wow, I can't believe my own eyes :D :D Originally I just thought that people are making fun that Jorden is better than Vašek, but it was propbably meant seriously. Well.....I told Vašek about all this and he said that he was not gonna make any stupid video and that he doesn't care about what do you guys think.
I wrote somewhere that you can't really say how good people are from videos made by themselves. I still believe in that, but if I would have to compare Jorden with Vašek after seeing all of those awesome videos, I would say that Jorden is 58% percent of Vašek.
For those who still don't believe me- Vašek hit on saturday in 30 minutes barraging pdx torque, barraging pdx blender, alpine jani walker, run with 6 variations of symposium eggbeaters on both sides + thousands of huge moves and combos I don't remember.
I think the best way is to watch videos of Vašek from Prague or Frankfurt in 2003 and think about if Jorden can hit them.
I just want to repeat that this is nothing against Jorden, by the way I really like his style and combos and he is definitelly more creative than Vašek, but on the other hand Vašek can hit 95% of Jorden's stuff.

::shakes head::

Jorden's videos aren't stupid.

That whole sentence is offensive...

thanks Vasek.

He's been on so many "stupid videos" to this point that it leads me to believe that he'd only refuse to make one or be in one out of spite. Were all those other videos you were on, stupid as well?

I remember some Ryan dude that used to play footbag. He was pretty good for a while. Then, after he took over the sport and changed our little world, he started saying things like, "I can do every trick you throw at me, I'm better than everyone, I don't care what footbag players think, and I'm still the best in the world after not playing for a year" and within a year, we all saw him get owned by some upstart kid from the middle of eastern europe. Now I hear about vasek showing up to sessions drunk and not playing well at Todexon for whatever reason... was he too drunk at that too? And now he says things like this? "question me? what? screw you people, I'm not making a video, who cares?"

we'll see what happens. :/

Vasek's a lot better than Ryan, and the sport is different now. I think Vasek will be on top for a while, but his attitude and the things people have been saying about how he's been showing up to sessions don't speak well for his champion status. Jorden, on the other hand, is 16 years old, SO much more inventive, and considerably more hardcore in his sportsman's mentality... he does NO drugs, feeds himself right, and thinks like a champion.

Like I said... we'll see what happens. Don't wanna make a stupid video? fine. Someone else is making awesome videos anyway.

This thread is turning sour. I think it's beginning to create unnecessary tension between the players.

good call, josh... it's getting uncomfortable, so we should all just give it up and forget about it...

as much as I hate having this smiley used on me...

I think vasek and jordan should mud wrestle to solve this issue. or maybe a pie eating contest.

Hm... I prefer watching Jorden's footage, but I think that Vasek is,still, better. Jorden is the one to win with him. He has the potential and the good treatment to the sport. He's just able to take the title from Vasek.

Matt, I don't think you should take offense because of Honza's post, nor from what Vasek said about making videos.. If they could write / say their opinion in their own language, I'm sure their point would come out more clearly, but then no one else would understand! Thus English.. and apparently also some misunderstandings .. I don't think any of it was meant offensively!

So what if Vasek doesn't want to make a video. He doesn't feel the need to prove himself.. so he's not going to! That should be up to him.

Damn, I swore to myself I wouldn't post on this topic....

Jorden is a truely amazing player... in so many ways! I'm so happy that the footbag scene has a player like him. He's f***ing unique!!

Vasek is a monster! what can I say...

Honza:

I see Vasek doesn't like making(or doesn't bother to make) vids, but how about you making at least a video of alpine nemesis for us to see. If Vasek hits alpine jani then alpine nemesis should be also there. After duck there should be time for 2 dexes as well and when we are talking about Vasek, it should be pretty easy.

Btw. great shred on todexon!

It's not a question, it's reality. Vasek owns this sport and not barely, monumentally. As long as he plays no one will beat him. I don't have to see Vasek footage to know that he is still ripping it up. And if he stops playing because he's BORED he could easily come back and nothing will have changed. He doesn't have to prove himself. Vasek in 2002 is still better than anyone today. There are strings of his from 3 years ago that still cannot be topped. You can't even try to say someone is better than him now if no one is better than he was in the past. I'm tired of hearing comparisons between anyone and Vasek. And people who haven't seen him in person shouldn't even be making a comment. He's already done enough for this sport simply by playing, he has no obligation to make videos or keep playing or do anything else.
There is only one consolation in the fact that there is no competition for the number one spot in our sport and that is that no one has monopoly on links. Anyone can come up with new combos/concepts that someone else hasn't thought of. There is also the uniqueness of each individuals style (way they move) and move selection.
Jorden is very creative and very good but he's no Vasek.
How about the showdown for second best? How about a Honza and Jorden faceoff? Now that would be interesting...of course let's not forget Felix or Yves, either of them are capable of holding down second place as well. And if Ricky wasn't injured he would be there too.
This is where the fun is.

I don't know if Jorden is better than Vasek, but I do not think it is as far-fetched as some of you believe.

Remember when Kenny was the best and Peter came along and changed things? How about when Rippin came along? Or Ryan or Vasek? Why does it have to stop at Vasek?

I think Jorden has the ability and better work ethic to surpass Vasek.

Thank you Lise. This forum reminds my graduation essay from few days ago written to topic "All the words have mostly one sense. Here come poeple who are trying to find something in front of the words, behind the words, above the words, under the words..."
What Vašek said means that he is not keen on beeing the best. And I think that everybody knows that he has no idea how to make videos, he has no video camera, not so good computer to make videos and so on... and it is not Vašek's style to ask people to do something for him....
At that time it is true about Ryan, he was really the best and maybe he said something like that, but if he hadn't said that, would have something been changed? Probably not
But Ryan was not like this, he just didn't care, but nowadays it probably means that people are bigheaded.
This whole post maybe also sounds offensive, but it is not at all- it is just a discussion and I am trying to say my opinion, but it is hard when people can't see the emotions.

Jorden seems like a cooler person, and I would play with him before I would play with vasek. It looks like he is having fun with his videos and others. Does that mean he is better? IMO, yes

Vasek does have 41 World REcords but I have more :P

I once thought Ryan Mulroney would be unbeatable for many years.

I now think Vasek Clouda will be unbeatable for many years.

However, JET LI could be way better than Vasek.

Jorden can do as many different sets as Vasek and will learn everything Vasek has done. Vasek will have to keep on improving.

Vasek is better but I don't agree with the people that think he'll be the best forever. There will always be someone better than the best.

This whole 'as long as he plays noone will beat him' mentality is just plain silly. If you believe it, then it's true for you, because to admit that somebody has surpassed Vasek is to admit that you were mistaken - not something that people do easily.

Stop thinking in absolutes. The practice will never serve you, and it will eventually become your master.

This is where the fun is.
How about not forgetting the great Lon Smithicus?

And about Yves... I haven't seen his game so much lately. Someone who has seen him playing recently could answer to this: is he really that good to beat Jorden, Honza, Lon and Felix. I don't know. Vasek is so good that it is easy to see who is the best, but there is so many good players that naming the second best isn't easy.

I think it's more about what people like. Creativity of Jorden, Smoothness of Lon, all the crazy stuff Honza and Felix can hit. I don't know. I have my own opinion who is the 2nd best in the world and that's Lon. Jorden is super good too, but I still like Lon's game more. It depends a lot on what you like to see.

And next summer in Helsinki, when I'm watching Vasek, Lon, Jorden, Felix and Honza playing in the same circle pushing each other,I don't care who's the best. I'm enjoying of good footbag shred.
