how ironic,

exactly what I did (focusing on the ins and outs of someone's post to the point that it dilutes their actual meaning) is now being done to me.

I usually try to take things with a grain of salt when there's translation involved, but I see in this situation, I need the whole shaker...

Vasek needs a better spokesperson. Why is all the responsibility for this salt business being put on me, as the listener? I'm just responding to a very blunt and direct statement (no real room for misinterpretation or translation, really). Ech...

Also, for those who still think vasek is undefeatable... Just remember that he got to be the best within, what, 3 years? If he can do it that quickly, then someone else can reach that level in such a short time. In case you guys haven't noticed, jorden's putting in the time, he's got the mindset, and he's got the physical ability.

Vasek is better than jorden right now. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better, in the technical sense. But there's only a few years difference between them. It's not nearly as impossible as people are making it out to be, and the topic of this thread is definitely not worthy of the scoffing it's starting to get.

So what that Vasek likes to party and have a good time, or doesn't make videos. Let him speak for himself about how he thinks about the community and footbag. Quoting someone else's words of what they're saying about someone else isn't valid. Matt Cross said ,"He doesn't like footbag and hates john mahood." I heard some other guy say that he said that, but in german... You see what I'm saying, the true communication is lost. Oh well, VASKA, CZECH THIS !

because vasek is the best footbag player in the world, i feel he has to be the best role model for me and the rest of the footbag community. I'm going to now scrutinize every action he does and criticize him when he doesn't do or say the right thing. Because he is the best in the world, he isn't allowed to play for himself anymore. He has to play to represent the whole community to the rest of the world.

I'm sorry, but I think that statement is bullshit. He doesn't have to do anything. Why should you look up to him as a role model? So if I become the best I have to quit smoking, toking, drinking, having pre-marital sex, and stop eating red meat? Just because he's the best (right now) doesn't mean he's a role model. If he's your role model you got to have some issues. You can love his dedication and skill without worrying about every little thing he does.

yo. I don't judge the partying. like I said, that would be crazy hypocrisy.

but I'm also not going to ignore it. It's an observation, and I think it factors into how long vasek will be best in the world. That's the only reason I'd bring it up.

also, about this translation business... come ON!!!!! Just like he didn't know what he was saying when he said Alex Zerbe is ranked one of 10 best in the world, but he's not that great of a player. Gimme a break. Words like "stupid" don't make it in as a mistranslation. I feel like someone was talking out of their ass, and I'm getting flack for hearing it / reacting to it. Honza's english is good enough to know whether or not he meant to say "stupid", and it's good enough to know whether or not vasek meant "stupid". {EDIT} **that said, I'm now officially dropping the issue and taking Honza's correction as what he meant.**

If vasek said he doesn't care what anyone thinks, and that videos are stupid, that's off-putting. If Honza put words in his mouth and made vasek .... blablahblahblah

GOD I HATE YOU ALL< FOOTBAG IS GAY

;) actually I love you all and this is one of my favorite threads ever

I just want to point out to Matt Cross that when Honza referred to Vasek as having said that:

"he was not gonna make any stupid video and that he doesn't care
about what do you guys think"

I beleve that was Vasek meant was:

"I dont feel the need to prove myself to the footbag community by
making some stupid video that some people will love and some people
wont. I don't think footbag videos are stupid and I don't think Jorden's
videos are stupid. I dont want to make a video showcasing my own
talents. AND, I don't care whether you guys think I'm the best or not."

Certainly Matt, you muist respect his wishes and give him the benefit of the doubt. But I think you know this.

So with that said, quit your belly aching for Geebus sakes and go have fun shredding already. Cause I got news for you, when you reach my age, trying to be the best is not fun at all!!!

I'm sure he is a role model for many people. The part that gets to me a little more is, isn't he like 17? As far as I was concerned the legal drinking age there is 18. I'm myself just against drinking in general though. Not against others really, I just keep it clean. But, it really all does boil down to the fact that he can do whatever the hell he wants. Repectively however, he should give his respect to the community, after all, he is part of it.

Anyway, I voted Vasek.

hahaha.
Go to Prague it's a beautiful city.

Back on topic: what I think puts Vasek ahead of the rest is his consistency. He doesn't pull off a long technical run sometimes. He seems to be able to do it ALL THE TIME (check out that 4 elements video).

I don't know how consistent Jorden is though so I can't really compare the two on that factor.

If someone at worlds just filmed Vasek's shred for maybe like 10 minutes, they are pretty much guaranteed a good shot because Vasek would pull off some huge combo or something.

I think Max is right, he is so consistant!

yeah I remember Fred (from Unanime Works) saying something to that extent. In his vids for a 5 minute section on a player he had to get at least 1 hour of raw footage. He said that for Vasek, he could film half that and end up with more footage that was usable in a clip.

This is the most stupid and at the same time entertaining thread I have ever encountered on this forum.

There are absolute no discussion to the answer – only the ignorant footbag player will claim that Vaska is not the best.

A simple question was asked and the rest of the bullshit about “attitude” and “who is best in the future” were thrown in later. It is not about “who is best a playing footbag – Vaska or Jorden?” anymore.

In our world wide footbag community we have decided too compete at tournaments in order to establish who the best player is - just like in most other sports. Only the tabloids and bored people will try to find personal factors to judge people from.

Get your ass to the Worlds in Helsinki and find your answers even better... meet the people behind the tricks / posts.

I agree with what Matt Cross Said wrote below:

"that's really cool that he doesn't care about being the best. I guess it goes to show you, if you want to be the best, it isn't always about wanting to be the best. You have to just love it so much that being the best is secondary, and you just care about playing that much..."

Exactly, Vasek likes playing and partying more than anyone else. And that's how he got to be the best. He is an expert partier and footbag trainer.

Partying is a great combo with Footbagging.

That's probably why the party scene is so large at footbag events.

Something about playing footbag with an altered conscience just makes you learn faster.

I'm glad I'm NOT the best because if I heard Matt Cross say that shit about me I'd get mad and shred so hard I'd probably brake my leg or roll my ankle or pull a groin muscle or something.

It sucks to be a famous footbag player. I wouldn't want to make a stupid footbag video for people to watch and tell me to do things even harder.

I certainly don't care what people think about my game. I do it for me.

BEING TOO CRITICAL OF THE BEST PLAYERS MIGHT SET THEM BACK OR PUSH THEM TOO HARD SO PLEASE ONLY PRAISE. THEY ALL KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING, THAT'S WHY THEY ARE THE BEST AND YOU'RE THE ONES SITTING AROUND ON YOUR COMPUTERS INSTEAD OF OUT THERE TRAINING.

Check out this fortune I just got on my Tea Bag I opened just now!!!

"Let you manners speak, your deeds prove and your delivery impress."

I voted Vasek, but he will be passed up eventually just like Rod Laver was.
