I used to skate halfpipes back in the 80's in Va Beach. The skate scene was huge in Va Bch...there were so many halfpipes in neighborhoods that the city built 6 huge ramps in parks in the city and hosted huge pro events yearly. I remember Rodney Mullin skating this skinny little board doing what he called "freestyle"...which is the roots of modern street skating today. And what he was doing on the board was in some ways similar to a footbag freestyle routine. He stayed in a small circle on the street and performed combinations of tricks. It was dope. Also at the time everyone used big fat boards. Tony Hawk competed at age 15 i think. All the old skool was there, Lance Mountain, Caballero, McGill, Hosoi, ect. So skating was huge in my hometown. I skated daily until the second time I broke my arm.
While in a cast I picked up an old footbag
that had been laying around for years and that was the end of my skating career.

I got decent...I could land moving kickflips, several stalls, 180 backside ollies...Rails were never my forte. My biggest trick landed while standing still was a triple kickflip and my ollie while still was a couple feet in the air.
I don't skate anymore though, too damn expensive. It was fun while it lasted though.

Im still working on the more technical stuff like varial hell, Inward heel (omg), 360 flips, hardflip, frontside flip, etc. ive hit a 360 flips before though... I want to have some more technical stuff and bigger stairs, ledges, by the end of summer. yea, yea, bla, bla...fun stuff.
