I know there is already a Whirl thread but this one is dedicated these two versions of Whirl. I can do Toe Whirl fairly good by now. But I want to ask you guys how and where to set the bag best? And how to turn your hip?
E.g. would you set a toe whirl in front of you or rather to the side? And how high should the set for pdx whirl be? How straight or diagonal should the bag go? I appreciate any tips Smile

i was opening the trick tips forum, and I thought to myself, someone's going to ask how to do blurry whirl, so I started thinking of ways to tell someone how to do downtime whirls. Then, the page loaded and this was the only unread thread... weird. I'm footbag psychic.
assuming your whirls are under control (to the Reader, not you, sNale)... To start, practice by doing downtime whirls where you set the bag up to your rib cage and do the whirl while the bag falls. This will teach you to do whirl dexes fast enough to do them from your toe or paradox.
With toe set whirls, I prefer to set straight up, and as the bag is rising, step to the side a little bit so that the bag falls into my clipper area, as opposed to turning my body so that the bag falls into my clipper area.
with paradox whirls, I prefer to set at an angle, and also turn towards the bag a little bit. if you set at too much of an angle with pdx whirl, it will make the bag more likely to roll off your foot because of the direction in which the bag is travelling as it hits your foot.
make sure not to plant on paradox whirls, skool your downtime whirls, then get the pdx ones back to back.
Does this help? anything else need clarification?

This post will be hardly informative.
I just wanna say Matt couldn't be more right about practicing downtime whirls. He's right!!!
I've been messing around with pdx whirl for over a month and still it's not consistent, even though my regular whirl HAS been over half a year. Then just yesterday I figured out the importance of having a downtime whirl for pdx whirl. I can be so retarded at times.
As to the timing for pdx whirl: when your dex leg is at its zenith ( Confused ) and starting to come down, change feet before you touch the ground. So you'll be off the ground with both feet for a split second. Make sense? Good luck-------------

Actually you don't really want to dex the bag with your calf, you want to dex with your shin. I've "studied" Vasek's whirls, which he is awesome at, and have come up with some tips on the form he uses.
1. You want your hips usually at a 90 degree angle to your torso.
2. Your shin pointed downwards.
3. It's best if your dexing foot is turned inward a bit.
4. You want to set the bag as straight as possible and turn to dex the bag.

It's been a while but thanks again for the tips. I didn't really drill toe or pdx whirls but I use them more in runs now. I thought about how I do Toe Whirls: e.g. left foot toe set - a little bit towards my left foot clipper area (clipper area is cool Smile) then I turn my hip towards the bag and dex it when it's coming down. I also set it pretty close to my body.
Sounds like a good methode or?
P.S. I recently hit Toe set symposium whirl Smile That's such a cool trick!
