Who Will Make BAP 2005?

I guess no women will be as good as men ....

that is the kind of sentiment that will hold girls back from becomming as good as guys. girls have a lot going for them as well. flexibility, plus mentally they could be superior. Using other athletics as benchmarks for women doesnt really make sence, becuase footbag is a lot different then most sports. you dont have to be crazy strong or anything, which would hold women back from some sports.

the idea of a girl making bap this year doesnt make sence to me. i think girls should strive to be just like the guys. dont settle to be in bap just becuase of your sex id say. are there even any girls who can hit a 5>5>5? there are tons of non-bap guys who can do this.

i am posotive that there are girls who can reach bap male level. ashley, jane, verena, tina. all of them have huge shots. ashley can already hold her own with most boys who have been playing as long as she has. and obviosuly tina is rocketing.

and as for bap this year: mikko, chris, juho. of course there are people who would make it if they went like jason, ricky, suderman, etc. people like grant, dale, and loren would have fair shots as well i think. once it gets back in the US and these mentioned players can go i think bap will have a surge of induction.

Surely Aaro Wichmann will make it. There are some other fins (from the same club) that are never talked about that will be very close. Karim Douak (sorry if I spelt his name wrong) will be up there.

From what I've heard about those players - I think a lot of the American's Dave mentioned will have to improve a great deal to make BAP next year.

Who cares? As the supreme beginning innovators of freestyle, I think BAP should be preserved in antiquity. However, at this point it's meaningless to have a BAP when there are SO MANY kickers out there who are totally awesome and contribute so much to footbag without being in BAP.
Brad Nelson, Derek Vandall, Ken Somolinos, Erik Chan and Jeremy O'Wheel to name a few.
At one time BAP was really the shit as a method of promoting the sport, but now they are legends and belong more to history.

The year that Carol was inducted into BAP, she was as good as or better than most of the BAP players. It was that year that she competed Men's Open at Funtastiks and got 1st place -- beating out Eric Wulff, Peter Irish, Sunil Jani and many other big names.

Footbag is a demanding sport, so it's rare to find someone who stays at the top of the game forever. Vasek is even gradually going to be surpassed...I can see it beginning to happen already. I remember when nobody thought anyone could ever get close to Peter Irish's game...and then when it seemed impossible that anyone would ever beat Ryan Mulroney. It's just the nature of the sport. It gets younger, stronger and the players push the sport and learn faster than ever before.

My vote is not just for who can hit big stuff...my vote (as if I have one) is for someone who hits big, but also contributes something unique or stylistic to the sport. Each BAP player has something unique and distinctive about their style. I could see Lise getting in someday if she keeps playing...I've never seen a woman player with so much style. She's like the Lon SMith of women freestylers...one of my favorites to watch.

Keep in mind, a large part of getting into BAP is a just a popularity contest. Some people have not gotten in simply for personal reasons even though techinically they deserved to be in. It's a democracy...

Can you give an example for your statement above?

If it is so than I always was wrong about the term of BAP Level.
Sorry to say but if it is a personal thing than BAP doesn't count anything to me .
It is very strange that a guy come to Worlds and get inducted due to his skill and his personality.
How do you want to judge his personality if you do not know the guy.
That sounds impossible strange to me.
For example Johnny Murphy - I guess that the majority of the BAP players never talked to him before .

I seen this video of a guy called Vasreck Cloudduh or something like that, he is pretty good at some big moves... like mirage... I think he's got a shot.

That was new - obviously only for me though. Just curios: did he use the nick Ceiling Fan already before the invitation or did he just take the name but not the "membership"? Sorry for OT.

Oh weird... I popped in here to see if anybody thought any Americans would make BAP, and it turns out I already posted in here and didn`t remember it!

Freaky.

But yeah, I think an interesting piece of Trivia is that no American-born players have been invited into BAP since Penske and Fournier in 02, and no Americans have accepted BAP since then. It`s entirely possible that the trend continues this year too, since it seems like most of America`s strongest non-BAP won`t attend, and the field is filled with strong European candidates. I wonder if I`ll get invited again?

Oh, and "ceiling-fan" is a footbag nickname given to me by NYFA, and I went by it for years before Prague Worlds.
