I think it's clear that some people are way...

strike that. Make that Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off course, here.

Let me just say that on monday night I kicked my personal best of 1715 consecutive kicks. I did this as a warm down from shredding.

If you can't KICK a footbag, then you've tried to walk before you can crawl.
Sure, it's not *that* important to learn how to kick - especially when it comes to add hunting - but when you're learning how to freestyle it's better to bail to a kick than to just let the bag drop.

Maybe I'm way off topic here, too, but I just want to brag about my 1715 kicks. How many people here have beaten that?
Comment in the BCS blog if you feel the need to.

geez, damon does every conversation that you take part in have to get
out of hand?

seriously, let everyone do what he prefers. It's true what Peter said,
it looks bad, but let everyone play the way they want to play!

Nobody here is disrespecting you, you're flying off the handle like you have channeled the spirit of windsor. This topic isn't even about the "rules", or self serving.

The people that are going against you damon, are the people that are trying to keep footbag traditions alive. Traditions, the original spirit of footbag

That's part of it for me, but it's not so much about the traditions as it is about simple courtesy.

Tradionally - if you really want to go there - we are all considered Hacky Hogs regardless of whether you self-serve or not.
I don't really want to get involved in this free-ranging debate, I just wanted to point out that this is very true. In most hack (ie, kicking) circles somebody who does more than two or three tricks in a row is called (and this is a technical term) a PRICK.

Also, as far as the original thread title goes - it IS called footbag, and it used to be about getting the bag from one persons foot to another persons foot. Whether you start a string by kicking or not is irrelevant. Once you start throwing the bag to somebody to start their string after you drop, the energy of the circle is ALREADY broken - by you dropping and then picking up the bag, not by them catching it and self serving.

I never thought I'd see the day when I vehemently agreed with Damon instead of vehemently disagreeing, but you guys have got to stop being such self-righteous pricks about "etiquite". Smoke a bowl, kick the bag and re-lax. Otherwise it stops being fun.</rant>
