ok I just tried some pogo stuff and here are my thoughts.
If you hit it cleanly it definitly deserves a symposium add. However I wouldn't call it clean unless the bag has completely left the setting foot before the dexing foot has even left the ground. So hitting the set you actually need to see the bag coming up away from your setting foot before you even try and dex it. Anything else is too close to being slurry to count.
Pogo - Symp or not?
Now we're speaking the same language.Tsiangkun wrote:SO, pogo IS a slurry trick. I guess the reason you don't see more of it is because slurry is generally a bad thing.
It's like a half assed reverse hop over where you don't keep the bag on the foot through the whole trick combined with a half assed blur set where the bag is set before the dex.
Old Skool
Full sidewalk is hard as hell, and anyone who says otherwise is either really really really good, or hitting the trick with no respect for what the elements of the the trick should be.
You need a clean symposium step, and a big symposium butterfly to hit that trick cleanly. A symposium butterfly with the bag lower than the knee at the start of the trick is %*&$(&^

Pogo is Symposium. The only problem with the add system is that people attempt to force it to *always equate* difficulty. Sometimes it matches, and sometimes it does not. People should just learn the difference and shut up.
I've been hitting Frontside Ripwarrior (just hit it flip, too!) really clean for a while, and if anyone says it's 5 adds and not much harder than regular Ripwarrior, then they don't know what they are talking about.
The fact that we have asked the shred contest to depend on the add system to perfectly equal difficulty for each individual move isn't the fault of the add system, it's the fault of the shred contest.

Yes. Exactly.Tsiangkun wrote:This whole discussion is just more BS about a system designed to count move components being inconsistently modified to reflect difficulty. Of course the dexes are symposium.
I don't know who "You" is, but I do Symposium Stepping (aka. Pogo) nice and clean, and thus disprove your ignorant theory that Pogo means Slurry.Splint wrote:Pogo is not symposium... ever. The reason being that You pull through on a Pogo (majorly slurry). If you don't then it's not a Pogo.
I have personally done enough Pogos in the past few months to tip that ridiculous figure by at least 10%. There's no reason to let a few, or even many players ruin a perfectly good move component. What if 9 out of 10 players 'the'ed Double Down? Should we argue that the second dex is really only half a dex and shouldn't "get" 2 dex adds? "Sorry, Barfly isn't *that* much harder than Butterfly, and 99.9% of people 'the' it, so it doesn't 'get' 4 adds." Goddamnit, adds are adds! Some 5s are harder than others. Some 4s are harder than some 6s. Shut up about what "gets" how many adds, and apply adds as they were meant to be applied!Splint wrote:That's all well and good Cameron, but 99.9% of Pogos are slurred.

EDIT-i realized despite my 'no offense' this still sounds offensive, like im challenging ellis, which im not, im honestly just interested to see how clean a pogo can be, and what must be physically done to accomplish this, etc.

In Blitz n the Hood (posted in this thread) Ellis hits alot of pogo's. (For instance, at around 02:09 he hits pogo butterfly > pogo pdx mirage)
