Ok, so I didn't kick yesterday.

I had planned on it, but I was going to be kicking with a guy whose name I thought was Scott but might be Kirk and I'm still not sure. As I waited to Scott/Kirk/whoever-he-is to come back to his room, I decided to see who else was around on the floor, and came across Lu Lu's/HeeEun's/Emma's room, in which sat Emma and Margaret. I plopped down and we got to talking. Now, our dorm has walls that magically transfer all sound, so if people are talking it isn't too hard to hear it from halfway across the floor, so soon people started using their sonar-receptors (i.e. ears) and came to emma's room to talk too. Eventually, Lu Lu and HeeEun showed up, too, and... well, we ended up having 13 people in this room all talking and socializing. I felt pretty damn schwank knowing I was the initiator.
Today, though, was a different story. I went and kicked around 1:15 pm, but didn't have a ton of energy or endurance. This is partially due to the fact that I am out doing things with people until about 3 or 4 am every night, so I just am out of it part of the day. The other part of it is that when we were out yesterday, we went to like 3 icecream socials, and that was my major form of nourishment. About an hour before I left to kick this morning I also had a granola bar and drank some juice, but that's not good endurance food.
However, since I haven't kicked more than twice in the last week or so, just being out there gave me such a rush of comfort and passion that I was rocking the casbah with all 4 cylinders. I was throwing down good, moderately long (given my lack of food) runs pretty consistently.
There was a good run with a double switchover, a zulu, and some stepping. I can't remember all the details, since I forgot a pen and pad, but here are some things I remember:
-
illusion > op butterfly > bubba > op butterfly > blizzard-- that was the first time I ever hit a blizzard, so I proceeded to hit it on the other side later, and tried to do this drill on my flipside, but only managed to get through the first four contacts before screwing up the stepping (too much energy required)
-
zulu BSOS
-
butterfly > whirl > osis > paradox whirl-- I like how this string looks, but only managed to seal the paradox whirl on one side, the other side I got everything but the paradox whirl delay
I also did some spinning practice on both sides, and managed to hit double switchover L to R. I know I'm forgetting some other stuff, so sorry.
The real highlight of the day was that, near the end of my session, a guy on a bike came up by me. To get where I am, you have to carry your bike up some stairs, so I knew he wasn't just passing through. He stopped and then started talking to me about footbag! From what I learned, his name is Tony and he's 25 and an english major. He spent 2 years at Swarthmore before taking a year off to study abroad in Uganda (I think). That turned into 2 more years off while he got married, and now he transferred to WashU and this will be his first semester here, though he is kinda a senior or something. He hasn't played in a while he said, since there's no one to kick with, but he is still decent tiltless with some impressive guiltless. I can't really judge very well because he wasn't wearing lavers, he was trying to hold his too-long pants up the whole time, and he didn't really warm up. So we are hoping to session together on sundays or something like that. Woot.
By the way, I have my eye on a girl that I'm probably not gonna get. I'm still gonna make an effort and put my neck out. Wish me luck!
