Today I ventured into the city to have a kick with Rory. It was real nice outside so we played in his garage with the garage door open, listening to one of his MP3 CDs. It turned out to be really mentally beneficial for us, allowing us to explore into the world of extreme fatique yet push on.
We kicked for, I would say, just over 3 hours. When an hour and a half passed I was spent but kept at it. The last hour or so was spent to achieve longer strings. Our goal was twenty contacts, which may not sound like a lot but when you are already exhausted and you normally average around ten and under, it is an incredible feat to shoot for.
We both ended up achieving what we set out to get. We both had two runs over twenty contacts and approximately 3 - 5 that were above fifteen. Afterwards, we agreed to set new goals every session for us to strive for which would benefit our string length.
With that said, we stretched and I headed home (with a few goodies courtesy of Mrs. Dawson - thank you!!!). Some of my highlights:
- The 15+ contact strings
- Pixie ss Symp Whirl bs
- Pixie (same leg) Symple Rev. Swirl
- Gyro DLO > Pixie ss Symp Whirl
- Vortex > Torque bsos
- Stepping Whirl > Tombstone (can't recall if I got it bs, but I know I tried)
- Ducking Clip > Stepping Clip > Ducking Clip > Stepping Clip > Ducking Butterfly > Sidewalk > Ducking Butterfly > Sidewalk
- 14 contacts of Whirl War 1
- Pdx Whirl > Gyro Osis > Pdx Whirl > Gyro Osis
- Smear x 15 and x 16 (records for bs)
- Rev. Swirl x 3 and x 4 (records for bs)
==========================
Alright, so I said I would type a bit about what's happening nowadays so I shall.
Like I said in my previous post, I've started babysitting again for my aunty. Now I pick my cousin up from school and look after him until late evening - I'm certain that this is a 5 day a week procedure. I also look after him on Saturdays, though I'm not sure for how long - last Saturday it was 12 hours but I guess it depends on what my aunty needs to do in the office.
So yeah, that will pay for the gas I use to head into the city to kick. I've also been doign some studying to help my father. He would like to venture into the world of affiliate marketing, unfortunately he is not one with the computer - that's where I come in. I understand it can be a gamble but I believe him when he says that we have an opportunity, one in which we can not pass up. I'm also goign to start to learn how to build and manage web sites which should be fun and entertaining.
Then there is footbag.
I'm really training hard for Worlds, pushing myself to bust big because I know I have what it takes to be good. I'm alright now, yeah I hit some big tricks and maybe a sick link here and there but when it comes down to the wire - I'm just not at the point in my game where I can say to myself "I'm as good as I want to be." That sounds strange and probably stupid but I know that if I started out doign things differently - or should I say properly - I could have ended up to be much better than what I am now. With that mindset, I'm really taking a step back and drilling some key components that I feel would help bring a lot of variety.
String length-wise, I'm working hard to improve that as well. After today's session I feel as though my string length has just bumped up two or three contacts. I also walked away with something else; when it comes right down to it, no matter how tired you are, no matter how heavy your legs feel, it's all will power: finding that strength inside of yourself to keep the bag in the air and not thinking about the fatique or how tight your muscles become.
That's the lesson that I learned today, and let me tell you something - it fucking owns.
Expect a video within the next few weeks Modified. And expect it to be good.
