Abandoning School,education and went into FOOTBAG ??!!!

You don't know how much I would love to quit school, and play footbag for a living. But can this relaly be done, is footbag big enough. Thats the only reason keeping me in school, besides my parents

DO NOT QUIT SCHOOL. Most pro athletes go to school, until they CAN play sports for a living. In the next couple years, footbag is gonna become a lot bigger, thanks to all of us! By that time, when we start getting more and more sponsors to come to our bigger and bigger tournaments, things will take care of themselves. But never quit school, because it's vital to growing up and becoming successful.

DROP OUT OF SCHOOL. There is virtually no way that you will ever become a professional footbag celebrity if you toil away in the dungeon of public education. A career in footbag requires incredible dedication, countless hours of training, and tremendous sacrifice. It does NOT require a college degree or a High School education. School will only hold you back. Do you really think that memorizing the capital of Mongolia or having a thorough understanding of 19th century agrarian economics will help you bust nemesis? No way! Every hour that you waste in school is an hour that you could have spent playing footbag.

History only proves my point. Many of the most celebrated footbag athletes dropped out of school. TJ Kleeburger, Nipsey Freshwater, Clyde "Dom Dom" Tobias, Noodles Dombrowski, Jeremy O'Wheel, Joe "The Sack" Coconauer - ALL in the Footbag Hall of Fame, ALL quit school. Do you think Vasek is the Big Cheese of footbag because he spent all his time listening to some teacher drone on about atmospheric pressure or class conflict in the writings of Tolstoy (mister boring himself)? No way! He's the best because he quit school when he was 11 so he could practice footbag (seriously, I'm totally friends with him and he told me so).

I was just reading on ESPN.com that 72% of Major League baseball players dropped out of High School. Do you know what the average professional baseball player's salary is? Try 2.3 million bucks! Ask your English teacher how much she makes. While you're at it, ask her if she stayed in school. I think we know the answer. Professional athletes quit school and get rich. English teachers stay in school and live off of welfare and eat baked beans out of tin cans. Which do you want to be?

My only advice is this: if you want to get serious about footbag, then you better get serious about quitting school.

Wow, man...those are some serious words here.

I don't know about your good friend, but I would NEVER quit school because of anything. I made it through high school and that is something. I often regret that I didn't get to know Footbag when I was younger...but if that would mean droping out, I would seriously reconsider.

You think you can make a living with Footbag?

I think that jugglers are in better position than we are. Do not give these kind of advices to young players, ok?

you don't have to drop out of school to be good at footbag. tons of less fortunate people would kill for an education. exercise your mind as well as your body. you will thank yourself in the future.

Actually, Mr. Reading Comprehension, the joke had only been made once in this topic by Kamil, and last time I checked he was still just one person. Plus, he really didn't milk it for all it was worth. I guess somebody should have stayed in school rather than dropping out to play professional "touch footie."

STAY IN SCHOOL

While going to college, I was recieving large sums of money to live in a city and play footbag. After I was out of school, I had to pay large sums of money to the man, and live in the hood.

Definately stay in school, it's like a government loan sponsorship.

I made it thorough 4 years of undergratuate university classes and two years of graduate level coursework (plus 5 internships during that two year period), all while becoming the freestyle footbag extraordinaire you know and love today. I may not be as good as jorden or vasek, who had more free time and arguably much more motivation to excell, but I'm proof that education and footbag are not mutually exclusive.

But apparently Jeremy Mirkin and spelling *are* mutually exclusive. I would love for you to expand on how someone manages to make it "thorough 4 years of undergratuate university classes." Does one "gratuate" from an undergratuate university? Did you have a good "grate" point average?

The fact that anyone is actually trying to argue against my post says... well... I better not say. I'll let you figure it out on your own. In the meantime, if you're interested, I have some Amelia Bedelia books that you could borrow. You might find them to be a challenging continuation of your "undergratuate" education.

One thing that can be said about Matt Kain- When he shreds its "aggressive yet controlled" LOL Thats a classic line he tried using on the security at mccormick place a few years ago to convince them to let us kick. The security couldnt get over the similarity between foobag and football and they thought we were gonna play football

I don't think school gets in the way too much, for me anyways. I usualyl dont want to play til after school. And If i didn't go to school, I wouldn't be able to play footbag for 6 hours straight, I'd still be only playing to my capability wchich is about 3 hours solo a day. Then I start getting tired, if you really wanted to do both you could. I am going to finish Highschool at least and then I will worry about what I will do, persue footbag, or do something boring. I'm starting to work on getting sponsor's, I think thats a good place to start while in Highschool and promoting the sport is another big job. I think the sport should be bigger before 72% of all footbag players are hhighschool dropouts.
