Thanks for the support guys. I really do appreciate it.

I was pretty hesitant for Duncan to get into footbags in the first place, only because I personally don't know much about them. And I really hate being the new guy. But I'll be looking, watching, and learning, and I really think that once this all shakes down and gets settled, people will be happy with what we are doing, and how we are doing it.

And to respond to an earlier post in this thread...yeah, I think there actually is a link to footbag.org on the CD-ROM. But it's been a while since I looked it over, so don't quote me on that.

PS my partially successful attempts at chop-stick usage may have played a role in my landing a hot japanese girlfriend, I hadn't realised this until now.

If you haven't already got plans for New Years Eve, you should consider rolling up to Rochester, New York for the big New Years Jam up there. It should be real good time.

There is also an excellent annual footbag event in Harrisburg, PA, every year that you should check out, but thats not till Labor Day...

Last spring at the "Greater Rochester Area Shred Symposium and RIT Juggle-IN" there was a yo-yo pro at our little after-party, and he was showing us his skills. He was a hit at the party, and everyone was talkin' 'bout him afterwards. I don't remember his name, but I'm sure Matt Cross must.

Anyway, if you've got any recommendations on some good yo-yo events to check out, this might be a good place to post them. I know I'm curious about it.

Outsider, thanks for the invite!

I'll be spending New Years at home with the family though. First holiday season with the new baby, so we're sticking close to home. My parents sent him a Santa outfit. My wife loves it. I see it as vengeance from my parents.

I subscribed to the entire event calendar at footbag.org, so I've got all the events in my iCal now. We're going to start slow with attending events, but once we've got it all sorted out as to what is what, I'm sure we'll be sponsoring whatever we can, and showing up with samples for people to test and comment on. We'd love to be able to show up to some events that are expecting a good beginner turnout so we can either set up and sell the footbags, or even sponsor with freebies to give out to the new players. We haven't worked out what our promotion budget is going to be yet, but i'm sure we'll be meeting a lot of people in the '06.

We'd also love to get footbag players out to some yo-yo events, as our presence there is usually already planned. Check out http://www.nationalyoyo.org for a list of the Regional contests. I'll be running one of them here in Cleveland myself this year.

Browsing the CD right now... there is indeed a link to footbag.org (labelled as "Footbag Worldwide Information Service") on the CD, under the "Links" section. Also contains a nice history of the sport, to give newbies a quick into.

The tricks (taking note that is is just the basics contained on this little gem), are broken down into the following sections: (For all these there are a couple of angles i.e., front, side and close-up and the ability to pause the video)

1. Basic Kicks
- Inside kick
- Outside kick
- Toe kick
- Knee kick
- Clipper

2. Basic stalls
- Inside stall
- Outside stall
- Knee stall
- Clipper stall
- Toe stall

3. Dexterity moves
- ATW
- Double ATW

- Butterfly kick
- Pickup

Also contains an aprox. 3 minute video of players having lots of fun. Some very basic stuff, some more advanced stuff, great camera angles and merges between shots.

Hey cool, a rep. Glad to see that Duncan actually gives a flip about the community. I might even pick up one of those Duncan bags for circle kicking with non-shredders. That way I don't have to worry about one of my better bags getting destroyed. Plus they won't complain about the Duncan bag being "sooo tiny".

seriously, the best thing to do here, with Duncan showing so much cooperation and interest, is to return to favor by buying the products, and spreading the word by using them publically, etc.

That sounds like another great way to improve on this symbiotic relationship: they advertise footbag at their events and we show up and do footbag. Plus, I would imagine the yo-yo crowd would be more partial to footbag than the common folk.

Indeed. Anything that involves skill... Then again, your average yo-yoer probably needs some exercise.

Steve, you're the man. Everything you've said sounds like GREAT news. I'm really glad to hear that you plan on impoving you're bags. I'm definately going to buy one and use it with my hacky slacker friends, as somebody else said, and I can't wait to check out the included vid! They don't seem orthadox, but I can't pass judgment purely from a pick!! (except on the "Road runner"... don't bother using 32 pannels if that's the finished product. hah, jk. I'll try it too)

Do you plan on taking up the sport personaly? Are you going to sit back and enjoy the growth of the sport without playing? hah, I think it's FANTASTIC what you and your company are doing for footbag, but I'm j/w if you're gunna play footbag yourself... it IS tha shit.

Do you plan on taking up the sport personaly? Are you going to sit back and enjoy the growth of the sport without playing?

I'm a lot more comfortable doing 5 balls with two hands, than one ball with two feet.

Ha. I've spent the last 11 years learning all the terminology for yo-yos, spin tops, juggling, diabolos. devil sticks, dice stacking, guitar, and bass...now I'm starting over with a new one! I'm running out of room in my brain.

It's the process of scooping up dice with a cup, and then lifting the cup to reveal that the dice are now stacked on top of each other.

As you can imagine, there are lots of different ways to go about it. My personal favorite is two cups & eight dice, leaving two stacks of four. I worked on aerial stuff for a while...tossing the dice up in a column of four, scooping them with the cup in mid-air, and then sliding them across a table, perfectly stacked. Hard stuff.

My buddy Todd did a great book and video on this, which is what I learned from.

Amazing, my two favorite hobbies, yoyos and footbags, are merging. It's going to be awesome going to Worlds and seeing pro footbag players and stuff.
