Paluu Sylimaasta
Huh. I think it's too boring to write (and in your case; to read) everything that I did in Lapland, so I'll just tell the most 'juicy' part.
-3/1/2006-
I had the most expensive shred session ever, 12€ per hour.
It seemed that there was only one sport hall there and the shifts had to be booked in advance (well, "only one" may not be right words because there are probably only a few hundred inhabitants in the area of Levi that live there for the whole year).
First I thought it was a rip-off price - actually I still think that way - but then decided to go because that was basically the only thing I spent money for during the whole trip. Yeah, pappa betalar.
The session was probably one of the best solo sessions in my life. In the same hall there were four badminton courts, all of them were booked and I had one of them. The floor was nicely grippy and I had some spectators (the badminton players).
I didn't hit many new tricks or runs but didn't drop as often as usually. And I hit left side Blender for the first time; it was that good that I could've hit something out of it if I had tried, but I was too stoked to do that. I didn't want to try it many times again, because I was afraid that I couldn't hit it again and would just get frustrated with it.
So I decided not to spoil my good mood and promised myself to concentrate on that ASAP when I'd be at home again.
Yup, the shred was nice, I sneaked ("sniikeri") in a bit in advance so the price was actually more like 12€/1½ h, not just one hour.
After the session I called my dad if anyone would pick me up from the hall to the cottage but he said that I'd have to walk. 3-4 km in the dark wouldn't have been that bad if I hadn't got the stomach ache. I've got a lactose (=milk sugar) intolerance, i.e. if I drink regular milk or products consisting it my stomach starts to hurt because air plus other gases stay there and don't "go forward". It's nothing serious but the stomach ache isn't nice and it takes a while to wait for the gases to "get out of the body".
This means that the walk wasn't that nice after all. The best part was that when I finally made it to the cottage my family was going to leave to the village for dinner - basically I could have just waited by the hall in some toilet or something. Anyways, the stomach ache stopped and I could go to eat some pizza with my family.
Don't we all love happy endings, do we?
Shred tonight I guess.
