Dungeons and Dragons

Post by Salt »

Anyone else a player?

I just started a new campaign of AD&D last night, it's turning out to be pretty good so far.

I don't play none of this 3rd ed or 3.5 shit, 2nd edition is by far the pinnacle of the game.

My friends and I played Seventh Sea senior year. It's sorta like D&D but focuses more on social situations and relations than combat. I really hope we can play it again this summer.

How many people do you play AD&D with? What type of stuff do you usually do, quest-wise?

I'm in a group with 6 players and a DM right now, and a lot of our material is centered around undead and cruel situations we're trust into.

Oh man... 2nd edition AD&D... so many good memories... haven't played in years but that was a hell of a fun time. I had a human druid named Sammator... he was the bomb.

Ahh,

Haven't played in years and years, and really I hardly miss it at all, but yeah, I was pretty into it. I can still calculate the To Hit and Damage bonuses for a Hammer of Thunderbolts used in conjunction with full Gauntlets of Ogre Power and Girdle of Storm Giant Strength benefits.

And first edition kicked 2nd's ass. That Monsterous Compendium thing, the three-ring binder with all the info on loose-leaf paper, that thing sucked. Monster Manual 1 & 2 (plus the good old Fiend Folio) were much cooler. And besides, they got all politically correct and changed all the Demons and Devils into unspecific inoffensive non-religious extra-dimensional beings. What a lot of BS.

My DnD character is named Bucky the Fanged and is a halfling rogue who is chaotic neutral and likes to burn things and steal pigs.

My friend and fellow hacky sacker here in the Toronto area, Mike Faille, freelances for Wizards of the Coast, and had 70-ish illustrations in one of the recent monster guides. http://www.mikefaille.com

Dude, that is awesome!

And to think -- I've kicked with that guy! I never knew.

Thanks for the link, EC. Mike's stuff rocks.

I used to play a few days a week in high school. We were using 2nd edition. My younger brothers play it now at whatever the newest version is. Seems like a totally different game the way they play it.

My friends and I play a couple different games very similar to D&D but not quite. Such as TFT and Champions.
