<b><u>Wednesday, May 23, 2006</b></u>

Played seriously for the first time in a while today.

I played at noon, during my spare and after supper. At noon the only outstanding thing was a run that seemed to last a good while. I didn't count so I don't know how long, but it was nice. Also my pixie set seemed to be right one. During my spare I even hit flip pheonix! I hit back to back zulu(??) clippers too. My after supper session I concentrated on consecutive records. I'd like to get all my cosec two's up to at least ten.

Progress? I got 14 strongside Illusions :!:
 flip mirage - 9
 fairy - 8

Other highlights:
 magellan>dimwalk>paradox mirage
 osis>ducking osis
 zulu(??) osis on both sides.

By the way, WHAT IS WEAVING?? Can someone explain this too me? I'm not sure if I'm using it properly.

PS I thought of another reason for my extended absence: www.freewebs.com/betheltour06 Check it out and let me know what you think?

EDIT: Changed the weaving to zulu Thanks Zach!

<u><b>Thursday, May 25, 2006</u></b>

I played during noon and then into my spare at school. I figure it was about an hour. I worked mostly on my consecutives again. I really wanna get them up high and really consistent in an effort to lengthen my tiltless strings. I wanna get them up high soon so that I can begin working on guiltless. I don't really want to push for guiltless though.

Anyways:
 Flip mirage - 12 (old was 9)
 Spinning clipper (strong side) - 7 (old was 5)

I also hit flip pheonix a few times and played around PS Whirl again. I really wanna get those dialed, but if I do them too much they hurt. I worked on my infinities quite a bit and I can get up to ten with ease now, so that's feeling nice, but I want to hit 30 for Mosher's challenge.

good stuff yo!

BTW,
weaving is ducking, followed by a same side component.

For example. a weaving clipper set from clipper

set > duck > same side clipper

I hope that informal Job's notation helps

Thanks TJ,

I guess it turns out I wasn't doing weaving. So what is it when clip>bag passes on one side of head>pass head under bag>bag pass on other side to op compnent?

I don't think I explained that good...

<b><u>Friday, May 26, 2006</u></b>

I played tonight. Filmed it. Gonna do a video editing project for school. You might just see it show up in my blog one day . . .

I also used this oportunity with the cam to film my Online Comp entries for this months competition. I'm happy with my sick one, and my sick three is pretty cool. I had never linked them together before tonight, so I'm pretty happy.

I wasn't playing to good, but I hit some strings I'm happy with, and I a few new biggish links.

I'm gonna go edit now.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot this!! I linked THREE double dexes together for the first time ever.

Perhaps what you were talking about is zulu? Zulu is like diving except to an opposite side component.

<u><b>Sunday, May 28, 2006 </u></b> (afternoon)

It's the twenty eighth of May... That means I turned 18 today!! I happened to be at Boston Pizza in Lloyd (Alberta side) when my phone's alarm went off and told me I was eighteen. I told everyone I was with and the waitress got me a free shot. Sweet. I basically know NOTHING about alchohol so I just told her to bring me whatever, she brought me scotch. It was ok. Then a friend bought me a Appleberg Martini because she likes them. It was pretty good. I had to drink it really fast though, because just as it came everyone was leaving. lol Anyways, just thought I'd share that before I got to my session.

Played for about an hour. Worked on a few challenges, as well my own consec challenges. I also worked on flip whirl a bit and some other stuff that I forget :?

Highlights:

 pixie same whirl (third try, sealed with osis)
 legover> symp mirage>rpt (Challenge from mosher; first time hitting flip symp mirage!)
 pixie pickup beesauce
 pixie same mirage
 some nice tiltless strings with a few good three's

<u><b>Sunday, May 28, 2006</u></b> After supper

Played for a little bit. Not much to talk about. My legs were pretty Jello-y from my afternoon session. I did manage to hit a new challenge though.

 dimwalk>Paradox mirage> repeat &
 dimwalk>paradox mirage>rpt>string

Other than that I just messed around with my strings and stuff. They are starting to feel longer. 8O

EDIT:
Goals for next session

<b><u>Monday, May 28, 2006</b></u>

I played for a little over an hour tonight. Filmed it. I retaped my competition footage because that sideways stuff just aint workin for me. It sucks, because I think they were cleaner last time. Oh well. That's life.

I took a quick look at a few challenges. One that caught my eye was pixie legover>smear rpt That seems doable. I got three contacts of it today. 8O

I tried to mostly concentrate on runs for the camera. But I did some of my bigger tricks to throw into the intro. Or outro. I dunno. I'm new to this editing thing. And I don't get the chance to do it often because I don't have a cam. Oh ya, one the bigger tricks I hit was ps whirl. No big deal.

EDIT: Just noticed I didn't stick to the plan for this session. But I wasn't planing on filming.

Short session after my meeting tonight

 5 flip illusions
 8 alt fairys
 24 alt clippers (record is 27)

Took some looks at smear>pixie legover rpt. I can do the first two easy bothsides, I just can't link them all together. *shrugs* In time. . .

that smear > pixie legover (rpt) drill is easier for me when I keep in mind two things*

1. delay longer than I think I should
2. lift my legs straight up when I set

I dont know if that will help you or not, though...
Good luck

Thanks for the tips TJ.

I was trying to remember to keep my leg straight up, but I think that may be part of the problem. Also, with the longer delay... I never tried that, but one thing that pops into my mind when I hear this is, "Won't it look disjointed then?" Do you mean just a slightly longer delay giving me time to prepare?

I'm totally new to linking double dex moves in anything even remotely resembling shuffle.

When I say 'delay longer than I think', yeah, I mean remember that there is no reason for you to be rushed to do the next link.

Alot of times I find myself saying 'ok I wonder what would happen if I delayed a second longer...?' only to find that the reason I cant do what I want is because the minute my foot touches the bag, it rockets up and sends the bag somewhere else. If you slow it down, not only will you have more control, it will also look nicer, meaning less effort for you.

Good luck.

Another thing, try drilling back to back. pixie legover > pixie legover (Rpt) stop only after you have picked it up and tried it again like 5 times.
Sometimes Ill hit something x 10 or so, and then drop and go to something else. If you pick it up and try it a few more times, you are way more likely to get it dialed.

Hope this helps...

been awhile . . . AGAIN

Played for almost an hour tonight. Felt good. My legs don't seem to be out of it all from my abcense. Speaking of my time off... I'm not really sure why it happened. I guess I've had alot of little things going on in my life. For one thing, The Oilers have made the finals. That means every other night I'm glued to the TV for three hours. Also, I recently starting dating a girl. She's the only girl I've ever really liked and I can't get over the HAPPY feeling. It's incredible. I just recently realized that I could make that feeling I carry all day better by adding footbag to it.

My first session back proved that I was right!

 fairy set :!:
 fairy op butterfly (Fairywalk??) BS!! 8O
 fear (fairy mirage) strong side only
 fairy ss whirl strong side only

This was my first time hitting fairy set. It was cool. A few times it felt really nice and straight up, but more often it seems like it would go more to the outside and I would have to either turn, or jump sideways to hit something out of it. Any tips?

Learning a new set was one of my Summer '06 Footbag Resolutions. I kinda figured it would be stepping though. And in a way I wanted it to be setting so I could hit something out of a clipper instead of just paradox mirage. I wanna hit some double dexes outta clipper. It was with this in mind that I decided to try stepping. It wasn't really there so I didn't push it. I just loved the feeling of hitting a new set. It's awesome.

I also spent some time looking at Pixie legover>smear rpt Even though pixie legover was my first double dex trick, it seems to be my weakest (of what I consider I can hit) now. I seem to drop it everytime. I kinda neglected it alot when I was working on hitting other pixie moves and I think I need to spend some serious time on it again. I didn't get much of a chance to see how a longer delay would work, because I rarely had the bag on my foot after the <i>attempted</i> pixie legover. Hopefully that tip will come in handy sometime.

Second day in a row!

Hour session tonight. Plus some messing around at school. Tonight I started off by working on Butterfly>Paradox Mirage>rpt I got through it 5 times, or five contacts. That's also the longest Guiltless string I've ever done, but I don't REALLY wanna count it...

Next I moved onto a challenge that has been stumping me lately: Pixie Legover>Smear rpt. My pixie legovers felt alot better tonight, but I still missed lots. I got through the combo halfway quite a few times starting with both feet, but just couldn't get them together. I'll keep working on it.

I also had a few looks at fairy sets but they just feel like happening tonight. Then I tried for two add consecs and got 5 flip illusions again. I can't seem to get past that!

I was playing in a very heavy OILERS "Believe" T-shirt during my session. That might have slowed me down a bit, but I'm hoping that I show my support during there game it'll somehow help them win it. I'm taping it so I can watch it with my friend when he gets here after his meeting.

I'm thinking about going to ShrEdmonton. But I dunno. Money is gonna be tight at that time, as it's the week before I leave on my trip. I think I could make it on the financial side of things with a bit of careful planning, HOWEVER, the other reason I don't wanna go is: PARTYING. I'm not a partier and I don't drink much at all. I know this is a major part of footbag tournaments. I know I can come and hang out during the day and then hang with other friends at night, but I'm worried that I'd be pressured to go and party with everyone.

INPUT?

About partying that is your personal choice. I am sure that it will not effect anything. That is one good thing about the footbag community you will not be judged for making that choice. I hope that clears everything up for you. I think I am going to start one of these blog things. I have too much spare time on my hands.
