It's all good, I really was just trying to see progress of people like Tricia. She was definitely a beginner when she created this blog a month ago, and I wonder where her game is now.brinard wrote:then i wont either. i think noob is less than 6 months playing time, no matter how often you train, or how "advanced" you are

Haha, sorry for the long absence from modified but I've been uber buisy with school and theatre. My game is not any where close to where I'd like it to/should be. Like I said theatre and school have kinda been owning my life, but now that finals are almost over (saturday=freedom) I look forward to endless hours of working the bag.shredzilla wrote: It's all good, I really was just trying to see progress of people like Tricia. I've had two days straight of at least two hour sessions with Eric in the parking garage. I've come a long way during these sessions. I've missed kicking so much that it took my ankle killing me and near exhaustion/hunger/thirst to get me to stop. I can hit around the world (one side) mirage bs and leg overs bs but that's about it for now sadly. Considering how hard I've been working these past days I'm sure things won't stay like this for long.
Sadly I don't think I'm going to be able to kick tomorrow. My last final paper is due on saturday (same day I move out) so I might be schooling that 8-10 pager instead of my flip side, but we'll see. Also I'm not sure if A) Eric will want to kick a third day in a row B) my body will want to move after kicking for two days but who knows.
Ok well this post is long enough. If I don't post tomorrow I'll be sure to keep you updated on my next session (Saturday?) and hopefully my noobness can encourage other new schoolers to post in this blog.
Happy kicking,
Tricia

a whole lot of nothing
Yeah so about that whole shredding when I got home thing... the weather seems to be against me. It's been raining before during and after I got home. I really don't have a place I can kick inside while I"m here so it looks like I'm going to have to wait it out- which sucks.
On the up side it's suppose to be sunny outside tomorrow. So along with the millions of other start-of-the-summer-moving-back-home crap I have to get done I'm hoping to kick, if only for a little while. But we'll have to see.
Oh well, not too much to report I guess, but I wanted to post anyways. Oh if you get a chance you should check out a video Eric made of the both of us. I look a bit silly, but it's a good vid on the whole.
Happy kicking,
Tricia

I might as well post here...
For my opening post, I might as well state that im five feet of kicking fury!
I can do all of the stalls no sweat (outside are my strongest, but insided only on the right) and I can do clippers and ATW's pretty consistantly. I'm working with some slightly modded lavers and a facile sandbag.
I am working on legovers and strings.
Happy shreddin!

Nelson West is it?? Sort of strange that outsides are your best stalls, but hell, it'll be pretty sweet when you start throwing them into strings. Good luck!

yay
Yay it finally stoped raining!!
Finally got in a session, short but still a good time. By the time I got to kick today I was already tired (I spent all day on my feet working), so I didn't have as much energy as I would have liked., plus my brother was outside shooting his air guns so that was a bit of a distraction. Either way I only got to kick for like a half and hour. Due to the fact that I haven't kicked in like a week my warm-up was a bit longer than usual. When I finally started attempting moves I hit around the world strong side almost right away and a bunch of times. Then I started working on mirages and leg overs. My mirages are still rusty on my right side and it showed. I hit leg overs on my strong side and then it was time for a quick change and off to watch "The Divinchi Code" with the family.
As long as the good weather holds out I'm hoping to kick again tomorrow. My goal is still to create a string. This will probably happen with Around the World's since that's my strongest move.
That's all for now.
Happy kicking,
Tricia

If you can hit toe>opp toe x2 or 3, then this sets up great for legover. I'm psyched that you're stickin with it Tricia. One day you'll see all this drilling is gonna pay off big. Good luck

grr
yeah so it seems sessions are not in the stars for me right now. Every time I get excited about having a session people are shooting air guns in the back yard, it starts raining, my dad goes into the hospital, or my mom throws away my footbag. Yeah..she threw it away.
So no sessions for a little while now, but I'm hoping that will change this coming week. Just ordered a new footbag from freedom today! Not sure when it will get here, but I've decided that no matter what I'm going to kick that day. I seriously cannot wait. I've been watching vids a lot lately and it's just not enough. I really miss it.... I really wanted to kick today when I came home from the hospital today for a lunch break only to find that my footbag was gone. Turns out my mom accidently threw it away. It was really upseting. There's something about having a session that clears my mind and I was really looking forward it (not to mention I haven't kicked for like a week). But, like I said, it wasn't in the stars. ::sigh::
oh well, so I guess I really don't have anything to report on the subject of progress, but I feltt the need to post anyways. It seems like the only time other newbs post here is when the blog gets bumped up to the top. So here's a chance for other's to post. If I can't have a session for a little while I'd love to be able to read about others' progress.
Till next time,
Tricia

Re: grr
Yeah Trish, go out and play. If the airguns are bothering you, walk to a place without them. Play 1-2 hours a day, 4 days a week if possible. You will see yourself improve dramatically, feuling your desire to get even better. If you need help with any concept, let me know. We believe in you!!!forgetmenot220 wrote:mom throws away my footbag.![]()

Tuesday I hit my first string
Yesterday I finally hit Mirage BSOS which was really awesome. I only hit it like three times though so today I'm hoping to get mirage down more consistantly. I also gave some time to my ATW's and hit that BSOS a couple of times. But my flip side is still flipperific so it wasn't that amazing.
New Goal: Hit Mirage three times in one string using both sides AND create a string using both ATW and mirage EEEK!!

hitting a wall
Woah it's been a while since I've update this footblog. I did end up meeting both goals I set for myself last time. Last week was not a good week for footbag sessions. I only had one and it wasn't a good one. I feel like I've hit a wall. All I can do now during sessions is hit what I've already hit what feels like randomly. It feels like when I do hit something it's luck not skill. For example, I've been working on mirages for a while now. During last session I was drilling them and I really didn't hit as many as I was hoping for. Everytime I miss the bag hits my toe box and just falls off. I get so close and just miss landing them. When I first started I could feel the differences between the ones I hit the the ones I missed. But now I can't. I can't fix what I don't understand and I'm getting a little frustrated. It wasn't frustrated enough to make me stop kicking (the session lasted over an hour), but frustrating never the less. Everyone I've talked to about footbag says the first year is the hardest and some have even mentioned this wall I've seem to hit. So I know it's normal, I'm just uncomfortable with not getting better. I know I'm not going to be hitting super hard moves right away and that's not what I'm looking for. All I want is to be getting progressively better, even if it is little by little.
Oh well, I don't think I'm going to be able to kick today it being father's day and all. But I'll try to finish my homework tonight so I can have time to kick in the morning before class (boo summer school).
New Goal: Hit mirages more consistantly, create a string that's longer than three moves
Happy kicking,
Tricia
PS Thursday was my birthday!!! I know that doesn't have anything to do with anything but it's still super exciting.

I have seen her hit legovers...they look good! They are probably even more consistent than her mirages. Do them more!

It's so funny how moves like mirages are so hard to land when you first start out. I remember being the same way, and like being pissed at seeing other people in my circle hit them so easily. Now of course I can do them in my sleep, but I guess what I'm saying is, the more you progress through footbag, the more everything slows down, and becomes easier. Just something I was thinking about during a session the other day.

What do you mean? and thanks for the birthday wishes and supportKljopa wrote: cushion the fall of the footbag with your support leg.
I had a session today for a little less than an hour. Nothing to write home about. I worked on legovers, mirages, and a little on ATW. I hit ATW in both directions on my right side which was fun (Not sure if they're called something different when going in the other direction) I find it kinda funny that my legover was easier to hit on my left side when my left is my flip-side for ATW's
Other than working on my legovers I didn't meet any of the goals I set for myself last time which is making me a little frustrated. I would have kept working on them but I had to shower and get ready to go to class. I'm hoping to have another session tonight after class, but we'll see. I'm excited to kick, but I'm still getting more and more frustrated with the fact that I"m not making progress.... but not too frustrated
New Goals: kick more, Stop being frustrated, hit leg overs BSOS, make a string longer than three moves.
Happy kicking,
Tricia
