I'll also say that I have 7.5 hours of footage, half of which is non-stop sickness. I was standing between, like, 3 ridiculous shred circles for hours on end, capturing some of the most stupid shred on the planet. I will try to briefly recap some highlights and
I will also cut and paste this paragraph to the top of the post so that people can skip my banter and get straight to the good stuff right off the bat (I guess, probably, mostly a bunch of crazy stuff Dave hit...?:
-Whirlwind swirl
-a huge 40-something contact run IN competition, with multiple fearless links, ending on big apple
-another 40-something contact run in competition with even more fearless, some 6s, and food processor > fog midrun
-janiwalker > alpine blurry whirl, by Will Digges
-like, 6 or 7 fearless by Will
-like, 4 6s in a row, I think in competition, by Dave...
-nemesis beesauce a couple times
-nemesis by Matt Cross (missed filming by just a hair!)
-9 tombstones by Dave
-9 ripped warriors by Dave
-10 fearless by Dave (may have done more too, but I remember a 10 combo)
-something ridiculous like sumo > pigbeater > dod swirl, by Flash (more ridiculous than that, I think, though)
-lots of sweet combos, like, sumo > atomic ducking whirl (Flash)
-flurry > symp whirl beesauce (Flash), and the same but bedwetters instead of flurry
-some huge trick by Ianek (will have to watch later). I wish I had more footage of Ianek and Tom

-pixie same dlo > smog > pixie same dlo > pixie paradon midstring, by Will (perhaps even in competition?...no, I think just during the break between rounds...)
-sick shred by Dave no matter what (even in baggy pants...)
-lots of good Matt Cross too, but I forget specifics. I didn't get much of Nick Laroche, sadly, either.
EDIT: -I think Scott may have hit barfly swirl beesauce midstring?
I want to thank everybody at KICKASS for making the best weekend of my life. I never imagined that a footbag tournament could be so amazing without even playing footbag!! This was honestly THE best 3 days of my life, I'm sure.
I can't even understand how nice you guys bloody are! Freaking everybody was the nicest person in the world! It's given that Tom and Peng are the best. I think that letting, like, over 10 guys stay at your place and mess everything up and inconvenience you to the utmost is unbelieveable; you two are sick. I was talking to someone about how crazy it is that, like, one single person practically can influence so many amazing people and shredders to come to a teeny little town to throw down; it's not hard to understand, at all, when you consider what these guys are all about.
One person who's been really sticking out to me as, like, 150% friendly is Ianek from Montreal. I didn't even talk much with him, but I just remember him coming up to me and being so friendly and really down to earth and everything; this, and his locomotion-beesauce-and-whacky-reverse-swirling-moves-all-over-the-place shred perfectly complimented each other. He also hit the second ever motion sickness that I have ever seen in my life (the first being Brad Nelson, after I posted somewhere that I'd never seen the move and him having to send me a video).
I felt so sad on the last day, leaving everybody. Footbag tournaments are so bittersweet. Part of me really wants to be able to play again just so that I can go to lots of tournaments and see all of my friends.
Meeting Dave Clavens was like a dream; it was so surreal. It doesn't seem like it could have actually happened -- like when I go to watch all of the footage I took that it just won't exist. I couldn't believe how nice he was to me, and how he kept wanting to talk to me; I completely didn't feel worthy of that. It's silly, but Dave is one of the best footbag players in the whole world and that's bloody huge! He gave me what was possibly one of the biggest compliments imaginable and that will stick with me forever. I'll also never be able to forget watching him play. I asked him on camera if he could hit nemesis beesauce; he did first try. And then again.
Speaking of compliments, I know that I officially live in Toronto now and I can see her all the time, but I don't know if anyone has ever said so many nice things about me as Camille did this weekend. Camille is the sweetest! She is so ridiculously humbling (I think that's the word I mean?) Hanging out with Camille is always the greatest pleasure.
I got to see Matt Cross again. Like most people, Matt has to be my favourite person to have ever met through footbag. Matt is just an amazing person. I can't even pinpoint anything without writing forever, it's just always an honour to spend time with him. His "That's the way I get High" (or whatever) to end his set on Friday was a highlight that I wish I had got on tape (I turned off the camera as he started the song...); it would have been much better, too, if I smoked. He also agreed to record an entire set just for my camera just for Marita (which resulted in tears -- the happy kind) and signed a CD for me! I keep feeling like I am forgetting something to write about, but there is a lot that I could. Matt's shred is always top notch, too. In competition he hit his ass stall, and in the same run food processor beesauce, and blurry whirl beesauce. In finals he also hit ass stall beesauce. Oh, lots of great stuff -- I got something like phasing stepping butterfly on tape, as well as barfly gyro dragon (or something???).
Matt's done an amazing job at bulking up the RFA; these guys are SICK! And they are allll so bloody modest and sweet. Paul A. is the master of the neo set (I think he said his record for alternating neo guays is, like, 30-something?). Paul is so nice. His family lives right around the corner from me in Toronto, so I can't wait to see him again soon. I just got goosebumps remembering how much fun I had with Paul.
Aric has got to be the most modest; he pretends like he's nothing special, while meanwhile he busts frantic legover midshuffle, midrun, in competition, while injured... It's boggles the mind.
Chris Dean/Christine is another of the great RFA crew; so friendly. I could say a lot about everybody, but I feel like I should stop writing so much about particular people because I will feel bad when I forget somebody when I have written multiple paragraphs on others... my bad in advance. Chris Dean was holding his own in a circle with Scott Bevier, Will Digges, And Dave Clavens, busting non-stop 5s, and one combo I loved, blurry drifter > 69 (or something similar).
I can't forget Mike Anello, either. I'd been waiting so long to meet Mike, after talking on AIM all the time, years ago. I didn't talk much with Mike either, which is sad, but I enjoyed just being in the same room as him many times. And shredding! I played in a circle with Mike, which was another amazing experience.
I had a rad drive with the FAT crew up to Kingston, thanks to Joshua Lackey and his girlfriend, who were super nice, and so crucial to making this event possible at all for me (and the rest of us...). So many thanks for driving me and offering to drive Marita too, and reserving us seats! Also huge thanks to Dan Cyr for driving us home, and also Adam for telling me how to get home on the subway.
It was unreal to meet Scott Bevier and watch him shred in person. Nick Laroche too!
It was REALLY REALLY good to see Taishi for a second time before he so-so sadly left for Japan (though not until tomorrow I guess).
Great to meet Ben Roscoe, especially after missing him in Winnipeg, like, a month before.
I also really enjoyed talking to Lewis (or is it Luis?) from New York (and Texas); Lewis was another of the really-friendlys that stood out whom I loved meeting at KICKASS.
Umm, gee, I was going to say lots more, especially since I left out lots of people, probably lots of memorable times too. I could say so much about Tom and Peng. Oh yeah, Aaron (I think?) from Rochester, who didn't play footbag, but who was the official photographer of the event (
www.sgart.org !); I spent lots of time talking with him too which was a real pleasure. We talked about everything. I also had a great really long talk with Pengpeng Du about art and stuff. I can't wait to check out comics with her when she comes to Toronto. Umm. Wow, a huge thanks to everybody who sang happy birthday to Tom and I; that was so breathtaking. Also a huge thanks to KFM for the birthday cuddle bag and KICKASS pin!
That's all that I'll write.
EDIT2: I feel bad for not really writing anything about Tom, but I think it might be best to just say that I can't even put it into words how great he is. Oh, and while I'm adding more I should say that the guys who took care of the drunken Pat Talon and Will Digges were really awesome.
EDIT3: Oh yeah, meeting Ryan Seath was also really really cool finally!
