In light of all of this, I could only give a blank stare and a heavy sigh on what I'm experiencing in this topic (especially at the flames).

There are many things I've been guilty of in the past that have been acknowledged in this topic:
  • pointless comments posted publicly (I agree that pms can make for a cleaner forum under this context). I'm guilty of making positive comments to stitchers that stitch pretty dope bags (although in my constructive opinion I factor in the prerequisistes of what makes a good bag, and therefore leave a comment). This can change if this is what the community finds troubling. I'm sure that if someone spoke up that I had no clue what i was talking about, I would take offense. However, it is I that I should find in me the realization of this belief against me, and I should reasonably find proof of this.

Concerning this subject, I'm also guilty of starting a small constructive argument against Zeb about chainmail bags. Indeed, I did feel a bit offended to be refuted on the basis of chainmail bags being playable, but in a way I can also see how I was portrayed in Zeb's eyes on what could be my 'elitist' attitude against chainmail bags. The flames only continued from there until Kyle (I think) stepped up and made a small joking comment on the absurdity of the issue. I still have my thoughts on the issue that they are 'unnecessary for freestyle' and a 'waste of cash,' but who am I to say about an item where another player has a possible interest in? Still, words like these can be taken for a grain of salt. And, with further examination on the issue, there was a misconception on both opening comments that could have been easily avoided. Since I made the third comment, I should be at fault here for letting it rise to an argument in a way.
  • Misinforming the public. I've learned to watch what I post a LONG time ago, though there are cases where I have slipped and fell. In truth, I feel that in a way, my G-unit mod tutorial is somewhat misinformed. If this is the case, a pm would be nice, and if enough troubled feedback is presented to me I would gladly respond to have the topic deleted. I'm more aware of modding shoes and whatever. I've since stopped making topics sometime ago (and only made it when I think it is necessary), and only post comments I'm sure is relevant to the topic at hand. I'm sure there are still some cases where I'm still slipping. I also apologise for this.
  • Being too much of a pacifist. I understand clearly what is happening to the modified community right now, but I've placed it aside and instead offer lighter comments to hold my breath. In some (or most) cases, this action is 'feigning ignorance' and only leaves the actual problem to breed to a much darker beast. I'm definitely a very chill and reasonable person in some respects (in a non-violent way) outside of modified, and I feel that problems can be solved over time, but there comes an instance where a stand must be made to confront the issue head on. That's what discussion boards are made for. Though I think inflammatory comments should be put aside for more persuasive and reasonable arguments, the human voice can't be constrained to express a more sophisticated and well-mannered attitude. So, in conclusion to this, I feel for Zeb's concerns and Matt's outrage, and any feuding thoughts similar to it. However, I shouldn't act like some sort of mediator or wannabe peacemaker in this whole issue. It will only portray how full of shit I really am. And in a way, I believe that I am a very despicable person for acting in this respect.
That's all of the misdeeds that I can list down concerning myself.

With that said, I think I posted too much garbage for people to read. :?

I thought Matt did a good job at being a mod and I wish he didn't stop being a mod.

But once you think about it, isn't it difficult to handle the consisting problems that users feel about moderators, and the moderators themselves having to turn the other cheek?

Matt did the best he could as a moderator, but whether or not he should regain his status as one is not for me to make the conviction.

Confidence levels for the mods and admins are gradually turning low. What I want to know is, how can we structurally solved this? I think Dyalander had a constructive method in helping this.

I've never been able to notice who is doing a good job moderating.

I've enver been able to notice who is doing a bad job moderating.

My Point.

I think blaming volunteer workers is irresponsible.

Become a moderator yourself and fix the problem.

Lazy whining is fun, but leave that to me and you fix the rest yourselves.

Thanks moderators for putting up with all the crap you get for hookin' up a great place to talk about footbag.Thank You.

While I agree with that sentiment in some contexts, I'm completely confident from when I was a mod that the current problems could actually be easily fixed and indeed that the problem is the attitude that some of the moderators have. Moderating actually is a really easy job and I think the reason the mods have been getting so much crap is a direct response to the job they're doing. I think this is particularly clear when you look at who the crap is actually directed at and which mods are getting no crap directed at them. While I think there are occasionally times when a moderator has to make unpopular decisions and cop a little bit of flack - for months I was telling the mods that their decisions would lead to greater problems for the forum. Because of the attitudes the mods have though, I think it will be impossible to get them to admit they've made mistakes and to correct those mistakes. Due to this, I think the solution is still an easy one, but will require a bit of time, waiting for other things to be put in place first. I don't really see that as a big problem - it certainly isn't a big problem for me.

Don't post if you don't know.
If you're posting opinion, clearly state so.
Don't post if it doesn't need to be said.

Its about productivity, not negativity. I would like this thread to produce some positive influence over the regular posters, to help us to achieve a better forum.
I'm probably not aimed that much because I haven't post a lot and I think I have make good post, even if I'm still new, I feel like I can help some people that are completely new to the sport, people that are trying to learn legover-pick up-clipper-mirage and stuff that I can hit fairly consistantly. I think that if I can send a faster answer than an older member with only some informations that helped me a lot, not telling the person that is THE way to go but only something that may help is good. I won't try to inform people on something I still have difficulty to handle. I wouldn't say to a person to watch a video from me doing a trick to learn it, I know there's probably tons of errors in it that older member would notice and watching a video by a pro is the way to go definitely but if I tell stuff I know that helped me and that I been told by other better shredders like the montreal crew ( Kolo, yanek, mathieu g, koa...., met francois and mark too ), I don't think telling stuffs like : ''try putting your shoulder over the bag and your feet, that way it'll help you getting a flatter surface'' can be bad for the sport or the player, I may be wrong and that's why I'm posting here, I wan't to know if you really think newbs like me should just listen instead of giving some advice to new players that wan't to try the sports. I don't have many posts here but I helped a few more people on footbag.org because I feel like I can help them. But it's the same debate, is what I'm doing bad for the sport or is it good? Because I definitely feel like it's good but would like your opinions ( those of you who can be call senior member ).
1) New people are being brought here before they are players, destroying the sense of community. We used to all play footbag right.

3) This place was never supposed to be a resource. It was where people who played footbag hung out online. See number 1. People who play don't need it to be a resource for noobs.
I wan't to answer to that to, I understand some of your frustration, but I always heard that people who played footbag we're happy to help other newer footbaggers so that will help their growing sport, hearding those things from you is kinda shocking to me because I always feel like everything I'm beeing told will help me and that anyway I'll be more than happy and more than willing to help others when I'll have got a concept.

Again I would like your opinion on that, because almost all I seen here is senior member discusting between them, now that I'm opposing something to you, answer me, and convince me I'm wrong if you think I am. But just don't flame on me for being a ''newbs''. I love footbag and play really often and wan't to learn more here and from the shredders I've met in person.

earnest newbs = fantastic. we want the sport to grow, remember people? people who like to contribute are always welcome

newbs who talk like they're the shit, spend more time on modified than shredding, who get angry when you disagree with them, are likely searching for acceptance in a forum somewhere to make up for lack of such IRL, and look like the the kids from southpark in the WOW episode = go be a lifesucking barnacle somewhere else

got carried away, oh well

Did anyone else notice that this thread became a flame fest at the same time that our wonderful moderators decided to exert their authority without a community request or desire for them to do so ?

Yep. I remember before we had mods with an agenda, this was a footbag community and discussion forum.

I hardly think its fair to blame the mods because the same people decide to have the same arguments across all the threads they involve themselves in.
Also Tsiangkun complained a while ago that moving this thread was a mod ploy to stop discussion. I think it's clear that moving the thread had no such effect, nor was it the intention at the time of moving it. I for one have been happy to participate in the ongoing discussions so long as they remain productive in intent. I don't want to stifle discussion at all. Yes I am a mod and I have an agenda - to make modifed better. To see that happen it has been my intention to fascilitate discussion, not to stifle it. But to have any hope of being productive, we need to discuss things in the right way, in the right place. Creating more threads all over the place is what kills off productive discussion. Diluting discussion with personal attacks is what kills off productive discussion.
I don't see how it's no longer a footbag community and discussion forum. The footbag sections are running relitively smoothly, as they always have done. The discussion sections have never been free from drama or flaming, and its not my intention to change that. All I've been trying to do is make the boundaries clearer so people have a better idea of what they can do and where it can be best done.

Neither do I.

It sucks that I got sucked into reading all this bullshit when I should have been doing my math h/w. However, since the past cannot be helped, allow me to state the disgust I feel toward all the bitching that's going on. I see no reason to complain. Shut up.

We're discussing stuff, we're learning about footbag, we're brought together as a comunity, the mods are doing thier jobs, things are running smoothly. Quit making up shit to be mad at!

I'm feeling kind of hypocritical right now actually... whatever. Have your discussion. That's what this forum's here for. I'm gunna go and accomplish something. ...but I'll be back, because I <3 modified

Its okay to be real and not to impress all of the people all of the time.

I challenge YOU!
Well today, I'm tweaking that statement to fit the present Modified conditions:

I challenge people on modified to stop posting in threads they know very little about. Even when you have something intelligent to say, think to yourself before posting: Is it really worth it to post this? Do I have the knowledge base to post this, and if I am wrong, how many people will be negatively influenced by my poor decision to post incorrect information? I challenge people on modified to stop posting hateful slander that will simply encourage other users to assume you're not worth talking to. I challenge people on modified to spend more time playing footbag and less time creating and posting in threads like this one.
I challenge you to go on a quest to find the caps lock button.

Btw, Modified sucks, because the people that visit the site, suck. Has nothing to do with their age, or anything like that. People are assholes at heart, and they're allowed to express it online.

Quit wasting space with stupid topics.

There are way to many stupid people in this topic trying to use big words to make it sound like they are making a logical statement. This causes the topic to be very boring, because you can see straight through their mispelt (SP? =p) big words, and see that they are actually very retarded, and ignorant.

But go ahead, you kids stay here, at home, by your selves, and talk about social propper...ness, on a footbag forum, instead of playing footbag. Josh Rose and I and a couple of his buddies, and some other dude that shreds that I haven't met yet, are coming down so we can all shred, something you people must just never do because you're all on here all the time complaining about what joe shmoe said over the internet.
