Just had a nice 2h15 session with Jul on my varsity campus - first time I got together a circle on this campus in over two years, in fact. Was sweet!

*I did some loooong runs, might have been over 30 contacts, maybe even a personal best.
*sumo
*first time flip blurry drifter
*first time flip whirling swirl
*vertigo
*mobius! (in fact Jul hit his first mobius last week and his second today, so I feel some good competition pressure to do more gyros, which is good!)

New trix!
*zulu le loup BS
*reaper

Oh yeah, I also had a spinning ducking breakthrough, so I thought I might as well hit some shit out of it:

*spinning ducking clipper BS
*spinning ducking osis BS (a five with as much as 3 body adds :) - I know the 'fuck adds'-campaign is quite popular these days and I agree that the add system is not always logical, but I still attribute a lot of importance to it)

So that's 9 new uniques, yeaaaah.

Do you mean
-blurry drifter in general (and I'm thinking not as I'm pretty sure I've witnessed you hit it)
-flip blurry drifter (in that case you owe it to yourself as you're "too old" to school your flipside  . No seriously you should try it. If you can hit something goodside, physically there's no doubt you can hit it flip. Just need to get the flip blurry drifter neurons in your flip brain hemisphere working)!

BTW I just watched my shred30 from Paris Max, thanks for cheering  !

hehe no I meant flip blurry drifter. It's my flip (read: retarded) steping set and my flip pdx drifter.

So maybe if I school it digilently (which I won't) I should be able to hit it before I turn 40.

Yo yo check this out motherfuckers.

I just had a mediocre and a good footbag day. I got the bad one on tape, but not the good one today  .

I hit little to nothing noteworthy yesterday. Only matador BSOS into a string with like 10 more tripless.

Then today I got a little annoyed with the weather. Despite the crap weather I set out for a sesh on the local playground one hour before sundown. From the very first toe stall I felt a good session was aloof but had to break down after not 5 minutes because of wind and rain :x .

Moved to the living room and didn't expect too much for the rest of the session but I hit some nice things, amongst others some shit from my challenge thread:

-drifter>pdx whirl BS
-mobius BS! My first flip actually :D

And in the category of new trix:
-zulu osis BS. I'm loving zulu these days!

And the new 5 for today:
-Ducking PS mirage, also BS.

Yay, off to update my challengeorama.

Yeah thanks Max. Actually you taught me some of the things that got me there. Here's a list, as a future reminder for myself/other readers, if any :) :

-make the spin somewhat smaller by setting not from the regular clip position (ankles more or less touching) but a little behind.
-think "2 times". The spin is one (spin fast and short), the torque is two.
-DON'T lean back when coming out of the spin. This is what has kept me from hitting mobius flip before. Instead, try to keep above or beside the bag when starting to tackle the torque.
-Keep the miraging leg rising after the set. Don't set and spin with the leg going down (having to rise leg again=unnecessary time loss). Instead keep it up, so when you've completed the spin your knee forms a 90° angle and you're ready for the torque.

Oh yeah, and then don't forget to torque. :P

Long time no uppee-di-datey!

Had a good 1h40 session on Sunday in spite of college work lurking on me. Couldn't resist the sunny (albeit cold) weather and headed to my favo spot of all time in the parc. Didn't focus on big trix but rather on consistency and endurance.

Here's some shit:

-atom smasher*3 (fucked up the 4th :x )
-pdx whirl*3 (footed the 4th :x )
-spinning butterfly>ripwalk BSOS. Not big, but it just feels good to be able to step out of spinbutt, a trick I used to have some trouble with.
-good long runs throughout, some in the 25--30 range, some perhaps even 30+

On another level it was cool to see that the kids of a local youth movement prefered seeing me play over playing basketball in spite of their leader's continuous endeavours to attract their attention. He just headed off after 15 minutes    . I don't like that particular youth movement so it was a bit of a personal triumph.

Had short sessions both today and yesterday. Neither was spectacular though my game has been pretty consistent. I get around the 20 contacts mark without much trouble these days, which is what I've been working on since early 2005.

It's pretty ironic really. I've been working on basics and run length - and neglecting big tricks - for soooo long and now that I finally stopped focusing only on run length, it's my run length that seems to be boosting.

Anyway, I'll take it.

-atom smasher*3
-good gyro stuff. I rediscovered how gyro works for me and I bet I'll be skooling my ass off the next few weeks.
-torques! I lost the torque feeling a few weeks ago and I'm now reskooling those too.

Other stuff I should skool:
-symposium whirls (and later PS)
-dlo
-swirls

Did I mention I had a small swirl breakthrough? I mean, they look like shit, but I was hitting them more or less consistently last week. Might start skooling them soon.

Anyway, did a record hunt session on Saturday. I've started a 'club record' thread on the Brussels forum last week, so I was eager to beat/set a few records last week end.

Here's what happened:

-inside stall 318
-mirage 15 (should skool more tiltless I guess. I do 100+ infinities, but mirages are harrd)
-pixie same side mirage 4
-fairy same side mirage 4
-diving clip 5
-spinning clip 4
-symposium mirage 4
-ducking clip 15
-sidewalk 13 (thereby snatching the record away from Max with one lousy sidewalk :D )
-blender 2 (stoked as well as surprised that I can repeat blender. Will try more later)
-torque 2 or 3, let's say 2. Dito as for the blender. Never tried consecutive torks but it's very good for consistency.
-matador 2 (this one got me stoked as well, my first 5>5 btw.)

Waw, I'm in a state of utter atrophy. I've spent most of these last few days/weeks on my arse studying and writing in front of the computer screen. My last assignment deadline was last midnight and I managed to send in my paper by 22h. Fiouuuw! A giant load fell off my shoulders yesterevening.
Now, before I start studying for the exams that are sheduled late January, I have a few days of getting stuffed with chips, turkey (well, not turkey, I don't eat meat), loads of cake and other Christmas paraphernalia. And of course some footbag/general body action to tip the scales!

While I've been losing the muscles and flexibility I had, it seems the Brussels crew have been doing fine. Seb has so much as doubled my symposium mirage record to 8 and Max has annihilated a.o. my spinning/diving/ducking records completely 8O. But I'm happy though, every club member seems to be eager to be on the list for at least some tricks :D .
I hope to get some good shredding done later today with Alex, Seb and Max (if I stick around long enough and he gets off of work early we might just cross).

Yo yo what's an arvo mo'fo? Did you mean avond? :)

But yeah, I want a jolly good shred too! Can't you squeeze past the exit doors at work unseen and put a dummy in your chair so you can leave early?

arvo is Austrlian (slang) for "afternoon".

I'll try and slide out the office doors at 6pm but you can well imagine that the absense of someone of my wit, charm, charisma and general presence does not go unnoticed :D

Quite. I'm sorry about the inconsiderate proposal with the dummy.

Wow! More and more Seb's place seems to be the main hangout/shred location for the BFC 8O . At one point there were about 10 blokes there of which half were shredding. Max did manage to join us early which was cool, there was Jul, Seb, Corentin (Seb's bro who seems to be getting into footie too) and Alex, so there was some good footbag action going on in the kitchen.

On a different note is was nice to combine two of my main hobbies, namely mixing and shredding. Some of Seb's pals dumped a turntable and loads of vinyl at his place which allowed me to hit the following combo during warm-up: toe stall x 10 > mix > clipper x 20 > mix > butterfly x 20 :) Easily one of my coolest combos so far.

Shred proper highlights included:
-13 rips, 13 sides
-mobius, blurry whirl
-matador>ripwalk both sides. Mat is getting easy.
-getting decently close to whirlygig and matador>ps whirl
-fiiiiinally breaking my old PB of 8 unique tripless. I just added ducking butterfly to it so I'm now at 9  . Max did 9 tripless as well, but I'm putting him first on the club record list because I'm sure he's done a lot more than 9 before.
-hitting rubberman unsealed :x :x :x I never miss blur, let alone the final toe stall :? :?:

Wow, it seems I was in a mood for shuffle.

The general shred level in the club is on the way up. Seb is dialing some good stuff, Jul is getting close to a bunch of 6s and Max combines the good with... the good... 8O

Props on matador>matador - is that really your first fearless link ?

Any tips on nuclear ? I recall Yves was giving me some, but i was drunk at the time sooo...

Man, your game seems to be so solid - and inspiring to drill more clipper
stuff, so feel free to use the "o"word for your x mas challenges , aaight?

What were your nine tripless again ? Anyway, gute Arbeit, Alter, jetzt fehlt
nur noch rubberman !

Yo Daryl wie geht's Kerl?

Hm yeah, it really is my first fearless link. I've focused on basics (I actually mistyped first and wrote "vasics" ) for quite a long time. And then when I first got into guiltless play I became a little conservative as far as trick choice is concerned (no fives). And THEN I quit footbag for over half a year so yeah that pretty much leads us up to the present :? . My career in a nutshell!
But over the last 2 months I have been enjoying and skooling bigger tricks and I intend to keep it like that.

My 9 tripless were: atom>legb>blur>dim>side>rip>side>rip>ducking butt. Like I said, in the mood for shuffle :)

Hm yeah, if you want tips for nuclear Yves is da fucking maaan, but I'll do my best:
-There are a few things I think are important with respect to the setting position:
*Keep your ankles very close together/quasi touching on the clip stall. This will make the required dex window smaller.
*Go deeeeep with the clipper until the outside of your foot pretty much touches the ground. If you start the set from as low as possible, you'll have more time to pivot and dex.
*Ah yes, the famed pivot. I love this part. I don't know if other people do nuclear like this but this works best for me. "Open" your shoulders/upper body to the footbag (my god, this sounds esoteric), i.e. turn your shoulders toward the clipper stall and make sure you pretty much look straight down on it (stay over the bag).
Then as you release the set and do a small hop (for dex height), the only thing that has to pivot is your lower body (because you've opened your shoulders already). Not only is this a lot easier ("pivot 1/2 body" is faster than "pivot body"), but also the second (opposite) pivot that many nuclear tricks require (matador, sumo,...) becomes easier as you don't have to put time and effort in stopping your upper body from pivoting (it didn't).
-Set, release and then pivot (though with good speed). When I used to fuck up (and still do) it was 'cos I started dexing with the bag still on my foot (thus slurring and hitting my support leg)
-dex with the crook of the knee. This part of the leg goes highest with the least effort. But Daryl you have no problems there as you have a bloody brilliant atomic.
-your first nuclear attempts should probably be for paradox tap (i.e. nuclear same side mirage). Paradox tap is one of the few nuclear tricks that is hittable from a low set and doesn't require the opposite pivot. If you feel ready go for matador.

Uhhhh, that's about it. If you manage to get all the above talk translated into muscle memory you'll be there in no time :) .

And oh yeah, I'll consult my "o"-challenge list :D
