:-) Hi Matt.

Work was okay. As usual, I ate really good food which made everything else worth it. :-)

I am planning on going to Worlds. I probably shouldn't because of money, but...

Yesterday I stayed up much later than I had wanted to so it was hard getting up this morning. Dave Morawski showed up at Fletch's brother's place at about 10am. It was grey, cold, and a little rainy outside. We weren't sure if the 11am session would be canceled or moved but at a little after 11am Aaron called to let us know it was still on at the beach. It wasn't raining at Crystal Pier but it was still cloudy, grey, and windy too. Richie, Jason Crook, Aaron, Tony (lives 45 min away from the SD guys and is learning really fast according to them), Chris Miller, Dave, Fletch, and I kicked in two circles. People switched so pretty much everyone kicked with everyone. I was constantly switching between wearing and not wearing my sweatshirt because I would get so cold, put the sweatshirt on, then be too warm in about 5 minutes.

My hamstrings were really tight so playing didn't quite feel right. I still had a fun time, and at least one string I was happy with. Aaron was really happy to see that I had improved a lot since the last time he saw me play which was probably about two years ago. I said I hope I would have improved at least a little over two years. That's what I need to do, just play with someone once every few years so the next time they'll see me they'll be happy with my improvement, even if it's only 6 months worth of leveling up. :-P

I stopped playing after a respectable amount of time. Today was my first time meeting Jason Crook seeing him play in person. No surprise, but it was really enjoyable to watch him play. After the session some of us went to a place that had really good fish tacos. I had never had one before. When I moved to CA from IL and heard someone talking about fish tacos for the first time I thought it sounded completely disgusting. The one I had was good and really cheap.

So that's that.

P.S. Bunny man at the beach.

Okay, I don't know how much Emily wants this in her blog but here's some pics of this weekend. Since she represents most of it I figured why not. If you got a problem with it Emily, we'll arm wrestle...

I loved it that you posted those pictures, but let's fight anyway.

Could you either e-mail me a larger version of the pictures or send them on a CD? Duncan wants them in the highest quality possible, and so do I. :-)

So I still haven't posted about my San Diego Sunday. I've been pretty bad with keeping up this ol' blog recently. I'm just going to take some clips from an e-mail I sent to someone about it. Yes, you're getting the leftovers from someone else's candlelight dinner.

-It was raining lightly, cold, and grey for just about the entire day. Great first time in San Diego. :-P I told our guy at the stadium that it was my first time in SD and he said "Well, you're never coming back." :-) Our contact there treated us really well. He got Aaron's girlfriend in at the last minute so she could take pictures and video while we demonstrated, he made sure we had water, coffee, or anything else we needed. He also stayed with us almost the whole time while we were demonstrating/teaching kids.
-We all wore red Duncan t-shirts. Mine looked like this:
Image
and theirs looked like this:
Image
During the event some guy asked me where I got my shirt because he really wanted one. His son's name is Duncan. I have this
Image
shirt too, but he wasn't as interested in it. :-)

-When we were on our way to the park we called to find out where we should park. He told us to go to a specific lot and tell the attendant that we were the footbag players. The attendant was very nice and sent our three cars to the right place; VIP parking for free. 8-) We arrived at the VIP entrance at 9:30am. The park gates didn't open until 10:30am so we warmed up a little bit and got used to the bags. We modified a few of them and made them heavier because for a while it was windy enough that the bags would be blown around while we were playing.
-We were outside at the bottom of a hill. I don't remember the name of the area, I think it was something like "Park within the park." There was a mini-baseball field and a lot of people sat on the hill to watch the game. We played on the large walkway below the hill. There was a ton of foot traffic. We were supposed to demonstrate some, but mostly get kids involved and teach them how to kick. We were able to teach some higher level kids how to do toe stalls too. The bags were given to kids 14 and younger at the door. We demonstrated/taught from 10:30am-12:45pm. He told us were to get food in the area so the four demonstrators plus camerawoman went to Subway. The park hot dogs are about $7.50. We got back around 1:30pm which was enough time to digest before going on the field and demonstrating for about a minute and a half, which is what we were told us we were going to do between the 4th and 5th inning. We asked to wait inside because it was cold outside, so he brought us to the lunch room where there was coffee, juice, soda, and water for the taking. Also a TV so we could see what point they were in the game. I had hot chocolate and it was grrrreat.
-The only bad thing was that even though it had been mentioned where we were going to be playing on the field, we didn't know where to go once we were out there and had to ask another employee on the field. So we wasted about 10 seconds of what was supposed to be a minute and a half, but the four of us were pretty sure it was closer to 45 seconds. We were still smiling and played in front of about 24,000 plus the people watching on TV (assuming we made it to tv). We played two and two instead of four people playing in a circle. I could hear some people in the audience nearby cheering for us. They were also shooting t-shirts into the audience at the same time, so that might have helped. ;-)
-After that, we were done. We could have stayed, and I'm sure our guy would have found a good place for us to sit, but none of us felt like watching the game.
-It was a fun atmosphere, there were lots of people to play in front of and teach, and we were treated very well by the park.

In case you ever get a gig, try remembering some of these handy questions:
-Will you cover our lunch?
-Is the hotel pre-paid? I know I need to have a credit card with me for incidentals so they can get an approval, even if they don't need to charge it.
-Instead of staying in a hotel room, can I pocket what you would have spent and stay at a friend's place?
-Is the rental car pre-paid? Will I need to have a credit card with me? (I found out the hard way that I needed to have my flight print out from home with me. I had forgotten it, but had a phone buddy give me all of the information. That didn't work for them, I had to get the airline to fax over a copy of my itinerary.)
-Will you pay for the gasoline expenses?
-Is there anything we can improve on for next time? (Their answer is usually "Nope.")

Tonight I played with Fletch, Dustin, and Max in the study room at UCSC. The nerve in my right leg started to hurt in an impressive way during the session so I just worked on osis for a long time since that didn't hurt me at all. I got 12, but was hoping to get more than that. It was still fun.

Oh yeah, and I added a pic at the top of the page. Maybe it doesn't speak to most of you, but it spoke to me. Probably because I watched way too much tv as a child. Night Court anyone? Harry the magician Judge, the perverted lawer, Bull etc.

I'm really tired. Good night. :-)

Perfect Strangers! That is my mystery show! I used to watch it all the time when I was little. I never knew the name of it somehow. I tried explaining it to my family to get what it was called a few times, but they never knew what I was talking about or something, but they watched it with me...oh well. Thanks for reminding me! :D

:o Surprise Emily!

I was a surprised when I opened this because I haven't noticed any e-mail notifications about my blog since Chrissy’s post, plus the thread title didn't jump out at me so I hadn't noticed any of the posts while reading the forum. I think I'll change that title now...

Now I feel like a jerk for not responding. :-P

Kevin, I was actually a little disappointed because I thought you had forgotten about me. :-D

I’ve never tried Choxie bars, but I have tried Moxie cola. I think it was cherry flavored, but it might have been regular. I was really happy that I liked it because the middle sister told me Moxie soda is “disgusting.â€

Notice, I’m riding it like a cowboy while Fletch is riding like a lady. Razz
I want to point out for the record how lucky you are that I refrain from jumping all over easy set-ups like this. I wear the assless chaps in this relationship.

You know, when I was writing that entry I specifically reread that sentence to make sure I hadn't said anything that would read badly when taken out of context. I failed.

As always, thanks for being nice, Fletch.

Just in case it's another long period of time until I post here, Dustin and I are playing tomorrow. If it's raining we might drive to UCSC and find an empty room to kick in.

Moroni, has it really almost been a month?

Yeah, haven't played footbag since April 8th. I haven't felt the urge. Well, once or twice when I was in the middle of hw I had to get done, but that's pretty much it. Last weekend was Jeremy's net event in SC. It was amazing to watch the high level players. Sometimes net looks okay to play, but these guys made it look like the most fun thing in the world. Not that it made me want to play it on Sunday. :-P

I freestyled for a while on Saturday. Steve, Jeff Mudd, Alex Dworetzky, Peter H., Dustin, and a NEW guy, Brian. Brian is cool because he skated up to the park then walked up to the circle with laced up and fairly well used lavers. We had never met him before; he found out about the event on .org. He goes to UCSC and can link some tricks. He has been kicking for about two years, don't know how long for freestyle. Mirage, atw (sort of), clipper (more of a kick than a stall), and butterfly. He learned how to do legovers (one side), pixies bs, and and pickups bs. He had rolled his left ankle two days before, so he wasn't doing any flip clipper type stuff. I had one good string of 25 contacts with ripwalk bs. I was happy about that because... it had been a month. Plus I was really bad at stepping when I was playing more regularly. Steve had Jody Welch borrow his shoes to kick freestyle for about 4 turns. Then Jack Harris joined in for a few turns. That was really fun, and for some reason I was able to bust for them. :-D Well, "bust" for my level anyway. :-) Man, I plan on playing more once school gets out for the summer. Dustin will be gone, Jeremy doesn't freestyle much anymore, and Fletch is temporarily injured and has to recover still. I asked Tuan if he'd like to kick freestyle if I come to the city within the next few months and he said sure. :-) I don't think I've kicked with him for a year and a half. Yeah, it was, because it was December of 05 when I injured my ankle so badly right before two tournaments and a trip home.:(

I don't think I've really drilled myself on drills in like 10 months. My endurance is crap, so that's going to have to improve at least a little over the summer. Last summer my only plan was to fix my back. For this summer is 1. make money and 2. play footbag more often. I'm going to try to schedule it like I've been doing with going to the gym. Speaking of which, I didn't go yesterday so that's another thing I have to do today. :-?

I think that I'll find a number three too. 3. Do more fun stuff in the community. It's rich here, might as well take advantage while I can.

I have a shit-ton of homework and a some other stuff all to do today. I seriously have to plan things out by the hour to make sure it gets done. :? But that’s what I get for having a fun, relaxed, awesome weekend. :-D

Oh yeah, my brutal thumb injury from AIR HOCKEY  on Saturday is almost all the way better. For a little bit I thought it might have been broken, but the swelling, bruising and pain are all almost gone.

Wow, this post is an emoticontastic.

Hi.

That Penn and Teller Sex Sex Sex episode had way too many dicks in it.

I would not recommend the "Puppetry of the Penis" show to ANYONE! They just make jokes with their cock and balls for hours? Wow. Total Strokage.

EDIT:

Penn's daughter is named Moxie
