Sometimes I feel some trolls post things they don't actually believe in, just to rile people up and gain attention.
I try never to respond to these people and I don't understand why people get so worked up and feel the need to reply to them. It's the attention that they are seeking, and without the attention paid onto them, they may go elsewhere to satiate their inadequacies.
If an ignore button is what the community needs to ignore these posts, then we should have it.
It's one thing to debate and have both sides of an argument. It's another to just flame and make personal attacks on members of the community.

And like-wise, it's not the website's obligation to provide you with ear plugs.Frank_Sinatra wrote:^ Word.
Free speech does not carry with it an obligation for others to pay attention to that speech.
Why does it seem that only the trolls are against this option? Oh wait...
You don't HAVE to read the post. You're just sounding ignorant now. You tell me that it's other people's choice to not read those posts, so why do they not make that choice? Don't read the post, it is not hard. I can do it, you can do it. This is just a really stupid and lazy thing to do, but you know, whatever. It's still a breach in freedom of speech, (even though that doesn't have to be granted here.) so whatever. I still win.

This will be the last response I post in this thread. I think I understand you now, you insufferable jackass. You just want the last word on everything - that's your victory, in a very sad and immature game that only you are aware is being played. You don't even care when you're totally wrong, and deliberately wrong, about everything. In fact, that seems to be your favorite strategy.
So, one last time, let's run down all the ways that you demonstrate that you don't know anything about anything.
When I first started posting here, I had some sympathy for you. I mean, it seemed like nobody liked you, you probably wouldn't be welcome at a lot of footbag events, you clearly desparately need some guidance in life, you don't know anything about anything, you have the same emotional development as a toddler, and you clearly don't have much of a future ahead of you unless something forces you to change how you behave towards other people.
So here's my absolutely last comment to you. I've seen you post several times that you think you can say whatever you want to anybody, and how they take it isn't your problem. This is total, 100 % bullshit. But it takes maturity to understand why, so I'm not gonna bother trying to explain it to you. I hope that something happens in your life to make you see what an ass you are, so that you can become a better person. I hope it isn't too tragic, but I'm afraid it will probably have to be.
Good luck in life, I'll see you on my ignore list.

No, they aren't obligated, but I'm glad that they are providing this option. It will be wonderful. Do you actually know what the word "obligation" means?Switch Kicker wrote:And like-wise, it's not the website's obligation to provide you with ear plugs.Frank_Sinatra wrote:^ Word.

And usually I don't. And usually, most people don't read or respond. But sometimes, the sheer idiocy of what you write, the complete wrongness of every assertion, brings out our inner teachers. You see, we're trying to help you, trying to point out your errors so that you can correct them. But that's not what you care about - you care about winning some pathetic game.Switch Kicker wrote:You don't HAVE to read the post.
Did I ever assert that I 'HAD' to read the post? Didn't I actually say the opposite of that? Aren't you getting it ass-backwards again as always? And isn't being called ignorant by Switch kind of like a double negative?Switch Kicker wrote:You're just sounding ignorant now.
Usually, most people do. Usually I just ignore you. But when you start directly commenting on what I write and you are clearly completely wrong, I'm going to point that out. Its the inner teacher effect. Sometimes people just get sick of your stupid childish bullshit and hope that somehow they can get you to stop (which I harbor no illusions of being able to do). Sometimes I think we're just out of patience. Which says nothing of the fact that you're deliberately trying to provoke people by challenging them to correct your childishness.Switch Kicker wrote:You tell me that it's other people's choice to not read those posts, so why do they not make that choice? I usually just ignore a lot of posts. I think moderation is pretty good here. I don't read the discussion forum. I'm not opposed to the button.
I'd like to comment on Frank Sinatra's reply. Actually i know that people hate switch kicker, but I don't know exactly why since I haven't really read many of his posts. i think it's because I don't read enough topics here, or I skip lots of posts sometimes. I don't know if getting the last word is Switch's victory. Getting responses like yours is. You may be wasting your breath on that reply for him, but it may help others.
I hope my username isn't quoted and bashed from a modified eminem.

Heh, far from it.Frank_Sinatra wrote:I think I understand you now
Not exactly. It's always nice to have the last word, but that definitely is not my goal in any arguement.Frank_Sinatra wrote:You just want the last word on everything - that's your victory
Why would I care. That statement is completely untrue. I'm not totally wrong, and especially not deliberately wrong, and especially not about everything. Yes, I'm wrong about some things. But you people seem to think you can put a label or right and wrong on things that are based off of opinions, not facts. And I do not try to be wrong whenever I actually am.Frank_Sinatra wrote:You don't even care when you're totally wrong, and deliberately wrong, about everything.
Indeed I do, otherwise I wouldn't use it. I don't use words that I don't understand unless asking for the definition, which I would not do on here. I would simply look it up. So it's safe to assume that I understand the meanings and definition of all the words I use when I post. Thanks very much for making sure I'm up to date with my own vocabulary though, ass.Frank_Sinatra wrote:Do you actually know what the word "obligation" means?
Wrong. You care about arguing a point you feel strongly about, or are interested enough in to argue pointlessly about. I have a very large field of things that I like to learn and talk about. Very large. I find many, many things to be interesting. But just like everyone in the world, I have my own views and ideas about things. And like everyone else in the world, my ideas do not have to conform to your ideas. I do not try to force you to agree with my ideas, or my claims. You try to force me to take on your views. Which is just stupid on a degree that Lewis Black could use you in one of his skits, and I would laugh. You're just mad because I have such a different view on life, that you don't agree with. Name one instance where I've done something that is factually incorrect.Frank_Sinatra wrote:You see, we're trying to help you, trying to point out your errors so that you can correct them.
Really tasteless and lame humor isn't going to get you anywhere.Frank_Sinatra wrote:And isn't being called ignorant by Switch kind of like a double negative?
In YOUR opinion.Frank_Sinatra wrote:Usually, most people do. Usually I just ignore you. But when you start directly commenting on what I write and you are clearly completely wrong
You mean the, "Oh boy, what a great time to argue and get some anger out through relentless aggressive typing" effect? You're not some enlightened saint here to rescue uneducated people you egotistical fool. You're just some mad teenager having a dispute on the internet. Accept it.Frank_Sinatra wrote:, I'm going to point that out. Its the inner teacher effect.
Yes, I thrive on people trying to correct me even though it's not really possible because I don't post "bullshit." Sometimes (Usually only in arguments with that Jeremy character.) I post something that is factually incorrect, and he'll speed by on his flying nimbus with some essay written by some overworked college student to prove me wrong, but that doesn't happen too often anymore.Frank_Sinatra wrote:Sometimes people just get sick of your stupid childish bullshit and hope that somehow they can get you to stop (which I harbor no illusions of being able to do). Heh, yes, I do. Freedom of speech means something different to a lot of people. But it's a damn good thing we have the Judicial branch to interpret what the fuck, "Freedom of Speech" really means, right? I know what freedom of speech means, and I know how far I can go with it in the real world before it gets me into legal trouble. I know where I have to draw the line, and I know my boundaries. If this site were a site that based it's rules off of freedom of speech (Which it doesn't, obviously, because I get moderated all the time for saying words that are not very nice considering homosexuals...), which it doesn't have to do, then putting in the ignore option would be a clear breach of freedom of speech.Frank_Sinatra wrote:You still don't know what free speech actually means, but you are also incapable of admitting the errors in your statements, so whatever.
It'd almost be like cutting someone's tongue off. They can communicate, they just can't be heard.
You fuckin' know it man.Frank_Sinatra wrote:Fine.
*Chuckles* Why the hell... never mind, not gonna ask.Frank_Sinatra wrote:When I first started posting here, I had some sympathy for you.
Notice the word, "seemed." Yeah, I'm not very popular here, I know. And as I've stated before, I don't care. It's just the internet, why should I care? But I'm not disliked by everyone. A good amount, yes, but I do have friends on here, and people that simply don't mind me.Frank_Sinatra wrote:I mean, it seemed like nobody liked you
You know nothing about my life. I get along with people in real life, perfectly fine. I have a very healthy life actually. Stead job, a vehicle that's gonna last another 200,000 miles if I decide not to sell it, loyal friends who I can ask any favor of, and a down to Earth girlfriend that isn't all hooked on school drama bullshit.Frank_Sinatra wrote:you probably wouldn't be welcome at a lot of footbag events[/quotes]
Well it's a good thing that I've got other things to waste my money on then, right? I haven't the time to go to a footbag event.

I'd tear you apart more, but I have some things to do, later.

You surround yourself with totally bad vibes, you're just fucking yourself over in the end.
Whatever, you'll figure this all out or wind up in the gutter. Frankly, none of us give a shit.
Edit: Besides. I've always got a computer next to me at school, and there really isn't much else to do when work's done. So, why not torment people (According to you.) while I text friends?

I'm with Tom here. I skip a lot of topics and posts sometimes. I rarely go to the Discussion forums, and barely make much commentary in the Kicking Circle. In fact, I barely interact in any other forum besides Bags & Equipment, the Video section and Journies to Tournies. Then there's my footblog.
That about covers my modified lurking.

I talked to Mike yesterday. He said he ran into some problems with the modifications he has already made to the forum, yada yada he's still working on it.

I see that Mike was able to set it up today. If any problems arise, please PM me or someone else on the mod staff.

just a question? Why can't you just scroll past the said post, in the past on some forums I'd go and defend/attack trolls and such. But is it really that hard to just scroll pass it? Just skim the first few words?
I agree 100% with Switch Kicker!
-Edit:
But then again who are we to say we can't let them have an ignore button either :0
OK Ok ok lemme try this out. For instance if there was something on TV that really annoyed you say for my instance "American Idol". I'm not going to sit there and say how much I can't take the show and how lame it is (to me at least). Instead I'll flip past the show and onto something else. Then if there was something I wanted to watch after "American Idol" I'd just go back to it after it was over.
Well thats just how I see the ignore button. But seeing how its there I think we're done
