Best Ear Bud Headphones?

Post by Switch Kicker »

I was just wondering what the best ear bud head phones are.

I got a pair of the V-MODA Vibe Chrome/Black headphones for my birthday. And I gotta say... wow. Absolute delicious bass, extremely clear and well distinguished sound. I'm able to hear certain parts of songs I wasn't able to hear before. My parents got them for me from Apple.com, at $99.95.

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/W ... =TM028ZM/A

Anyone know of any headphones that are just insane? They have to be ear buds though.

I'm lookin' for the best ear bud headphones I can get. So far, iPod + V-MODA = sexy runs around the lake. If anyone can find another pair under $200 that's better, I'm interested. :)

I got a pair of some pretty sick koss earbuds, they are like earplugs in the sense that you can squish them to get the best fit in your ear + it blocks out all outside sound and improves the bass I paid maybe 40 dollars Canadian, Im pretty sure they were cheaper.
If you want your shit to be loud and clear with little bass I suggest panasonic earbuds, louder and full of bass minus clarity=sony earbuds
I say Koss or Panasonic earbuds, Ive been rocking earbuds for a longtime now since I wear glasses and find that normal headphones crush the arms of my glasses into my head/back of the ear causing me discomfort and not a pleasurable listening experience.

Shure makes the best earbuds you can find but they are $250, if you want a cheaper alternative I suggest the Creative Zen headphones, creative specializes in mp3 players, the first mp3 player and second for that matter were creatives, one of ems a 6gb thats bigger than most cd players eats batteries like a fiend, its basically a portable harddrive that happens to be a music player not a music player that has a harddrive, anyways I jumped on the mp3 player bandwagon before people even knew what mp3s were, now seeing all these people with white earbuds portruding from their ears being brainwashed by the Apple corporation. I havent sold out to Apple yet and I wont, TD Banks is giving away 30gb Ipods so Im just going to rape them for that. Steve Jobs will never see a cent of mine.

KOSS kicks ass. I use all sorts of their headphones. I have a set with a 1/4 jack I use when playing bass :D So amazing

I can't take your input seriously dude... you're way too biased. There is nothing wrong with iPod. If you don't like it, that's fine. But that doesn't mean others (including me) are brainwashed. It's a sexy looking machine, sleek, and plays music quite well. I'm sure the Creative Zen works great too, but it's bigger, and doesn't look as sleek, which is the only reason I chose the iPod instead of the Creative Zen and the Zune. I have two iPods, and they both work perfectly well. You can like one thing more than the other, but that doesn't mean others are brainwashed for liking something that you don't like, because they both do their jobs, 30GB of music played for long periods of time, clearly. It's a matter of what you like in your MP3 player.

And it's not a bandwagon either. It's called new technology. How is it bandwagon to want your music conveniently kept with you at all times with easy access? That's just common sense. This wasn't even about iPod, it was about headphones. And V-MODA isn't made by Apple, Apple was just the site selling the headphones.

I'm sorry, your post just really bothered me.

As for KOSS, yes, they've always been a good brand. But I haven't seen anything from them yet that tops these.

Thanks for the link Holly, but they're shape isn't right. They'd be uncomfortable for my ears. =)

I'll look into that Shure stuff though ShredEX.

Thanks everyone.

Sorry bout that Fred I realized that after I posted that it had very little to do with earbuds, and was more or less me just bitching about all the trendy kids and thier white ipod headphones. They arent being brainwashed by anymeans, and yeah its not so much a bandwagon just a following. If people are actually using itunes and paying for their music then I could say they are being brainwashed by apple, forget itunes, download torrents

It's all good. I can't stand paying for music by the song. It's so expensive. I just use LimeWire and MP3Rocket. As for iTunes, I have to use it to keep all my music for my iPods. I mean, iTunes has a good layout and all, but there are better media programs out there.

Despite ShredEX's pompous "brainwashed" America rant. He is right Shure easily makes the best earbuds on the market. They are pricey though. The earbuds you have are of the same quality of their cheaper products. (cheaper as in the same price u paid for yours)

on a side note my dad is employed by Apple, and ive owned pretty much every ipod product they have had in the last 3 or 4 years. There is nothing wrong with the device itself. I just dont like their Mac vs PC advertising campaign I find them to be making cheap shots at the clear dominating competitor. Regardless whether or not Mac is a better product. I currently am not using an ipod for my music I use the Microsoft Zune. I bought one (because I am retarded and spend my money on things like this) I personally like the Zune because its interface is more personal and easier to use dispete its slightly larger size to the ipod. this is all my personal opinion and I am in no way saying you should not purchase an ipod. BUY AN iPod they pay my family's bills.

don't get those sony mdr fontopia's, while they are good at isolating, the cord will eventually fall apart and the internal copper wires will be exposed, it happened to me and my brother, i bought some shure e2c's for $100, they are one of the best things i have ever bought, also, i can't hear anyone talk when i'm listening to music with them on

STAY AWAY FROM SONY. They will break in 2 months. Been there, done that.

I've done mounds of research. Get the Sennheiser CX-300.

They sound as good as the e2c's for half the price (and half the size)! Fifty bucks is an absolute steal. I have a pair and they kick so much ass. The bass is incredible. Give them some time to break in.

These may be the best bang for buck but you may be interested in something even better. So whatever suits your wallet....

For $50, I expect the treb to be absolute crap, and undistinguished sound. That's just my initial thought when you tell me this, lol.

I'm not going for the "best buy." I'm looking for the best headphones I can get for under $200. However, it looks like I might be waiting another month and getting something of higher quality and price.

Is there a place (Say, the Mall of America) that might have Shure headphones that I can try before buying? The Apple store let me use the V-MODA headphones before I asked my parents to order them for my birthday. We were up there at "Love Sac" getting some pimpin bean bag furniture for our basement.

If anyone knows, that'd be great, cause I'm only an hour from there, lol. Don't want to spend $250 on non-refundable products that I can't even test out.

Quite right. The actual problem, is that kids don't know how to take care of things, or appreciat them. Americans kids are spoiled in this nature. My friends throw their cell phones when they get angry. I've dropped mine once in the 6 months I've had it. My younger brother's Creative Zen mp3 player, (4GB) has a cracked screen, and a broken button already, from mistreatment. My iPod has an itty bitty scratch on the back, near the bottom, next to the serial number, because I accidentally put it into my iPod mount in my truck backwards in the dark last week, lol.

I just don't understand how people can be so abusive to expensive electronics. So fuckin' spoiled.

I think they're funny, lol.
Dave Da wrote:I currently am not using an ipod for my music I use the Microsoft Zune.
The bigger screen is nice, yes. The Zune really isn't a bad media player. But it's just too ugly (IMO), and big. It can't fit in my pocket the way my iPod does.

However, I will definitely be getting that iPhone when it comes out. Bigger, higher resolution screen, just the sheer sexiness of it.
Dave Da wrote:BUY AN iPod they pay my family's bills.
I have two. By the time I get the iPhone, you will owe me two of my truck payments, and a month's worth of food. I'll be in touch.

Im not trying to say apple is making a bad product by any means here guys, in fact they are making a great product, it just upset me greatly when I went out and bought that huge creative mp3 player, it was the shit for like a year, then Ipods slowly started to emerge, and its as if people forgot about other mp3 player companies/music player options (minddisk players mainly) so lots of companies put their technology on backburners while people bought into what I like to call "the great white hype" (due to the colour way of the ipod) My creative player was supposed to have a remote control made for it, it has the receiving technology in it but creative never made the remote for it, due to Ipod stereo docking station things. IPODS are not bad products, I have used them Im not a big fan of the whole touch dial, To be honest I find it sketchy and jumpy not user friendly, I guess I just havent had one to myself long enough to get to thoroughly enjoy it. Please guys dont take any of this the wrong way Ipod makes a great product thats clear, Ill just be getting mine for free, instead of shelling out 4 bills.
And as for the earbud discussion. Psilocybe is right although Sony makes good full sized headphones the earbuds will be sure to break (cables tangle/fray easily, covers come off the buds) As for Sennheiser Ive never seen any of their earbuds, but they are one of the big names at the forefront of the headphone industry, I know their full size headphones are clear as day and pound mad bass. Sorry for my long ass rants guys I took radio broadcasting so Im a boner on sound quality.
Fred Itunes is a great program for music management I just couldnt see myself paying for it/single songs

I don't think your realize, that non of us are attacking you, defending ourselves, or anything. I honestly don't care if you don't like iPods for whatever reason. All I said was that you shouldn't say something's of bad quality when it really isn't, it just didn't match your personal preferences.

I was not defending my like or dislike for iTunes. I don't like iTunes much, but it does it's job, and that's all that matters to me when it comes to that. Because I only have to use it once in a while to update my iPods and sync new music.

My personal belief, is that Apple took what other companies created, and just made it better, by a technical standard. 30GB, 12hour battery life, high res screen with nice color, however, it's smaller. Which was the deciding factor for me.

Again, between Creative, Apple, and Microsoft, it's really all preference. Technically, Microsoft is the more powerful media player, because it has the bigger screen, that's it. There's not much else that's too great about it. Wireless sharing... So what? You'll see maybe 1-2 people ever 1-2 weeks, that has a Zune, with a song, or video, that you don't have, that you know, that is willing to share it with you. I thought it was a pointless feature.

So the basics are. They all have 30GB, they all play music, they all play video, they all store picture, they all can be used for disc space (external hard drives). They all cost the same. The only one that is more powerful, is the Zune, because of the larger screen. I don't see that as a big enough difference to not be able to put it in my pocket. When I looked at these, I didn't think about the specs, because I already knew all the specs were the same. I looked at which one looked nicer, and which one was going to be more practical. I can fit the iPod, in it's leather case, in a side cargo pocket on my leg, and and pokes out of the top. All I need to do, is tap of the button, and pull the iPod out to change the song, and put it back in. It's been perfectly secure there ever since I started doing it, and it actually looks pretty cool that way. The Creative and the Zune, both are too big to do that. They'd have to sit in one of the bigger cargo pockets, unsecured, flipping around if I'm walking fast or running for whatever reason, smacking against my knee. Also, the only colors for the Zune out at the time, were White, and Brown, fuckin' ugly. And the Creative is not sleek or attractive by any means IMO. My only logical choice, is the iPod. Because it's what I liked, in appearance, and because it works really well with all of my pants, lol. Weird reason, but it's a reason.

... Now I'm ranting, great, lol.

But, yeah... iPods are advertised as Black now, not White. No one likes the White iPods anymore. They look pasty and icky. Which is probably why the iPhone is black.

I guess the point is, why do you keep apologizing for... whatever it is you're apologizing for?

Ha I was apologizing for posting a rant that wasnt specific to the topic at hand. This is about earbuds not media players. It upsets me when I see people post otherwise useless dribble on a forum eatting up the bandwidth and wasting other peoples time. Anyways enough apologizing
KOSS, Creative, Shure and Sennheiser are your best bets for quality earbuds.

Bill Gates did the same thing. He pretty much never had an original idea in his life. Steve Jobs is no different.

The mp3 player is no a new idea that he stole. I had a an mp3 player like 8 years ago. It was made by Memorex (the company that makes burnable CDs and what not) not creative, If anyone came up with the design of the ipod they would be on top of the mp3 market.

My dad says that Apple doesnt take credit for inventing the mp3 player, but it will take all the credit in the world for putting on in everyone's pocket in America.

Can go wrong. I actually thought I had listed that I despise those headphones, but I guess I forgot to. My buddy John got those (because he's a die hard Bose junky) a while ago for his Nano. They suck absolute nuts. Can't run with them at all, they fall out all the time. Yeah, they have decent sound an all... but they're not worth that fact that they always tangle, fall out, and don't even look very good IMO. I was actually going to buy these until I tried John's pair on. It's the only reason I have the V-MODAs rather than the Bose. IMO, Bose should stick to home theaters and what not. And you're right, they're price is actually $99.95.

Seriously, thanks for the input, but I have honestly tried these, and they are just, not even really comparable to the V-MODA's IMO. I'm a Bose fan too. These two are sold side by side on a lot of sites, and are the same price, so that why I'm comparing them so aggressively. I'm not ignorantly defending my own purchase. These products are obviously competing with each other, and for me, it's the V-MODAs between those two.

But I'm still looking into those other brands. Won't buy new ones till around July though. Maybe even better ones will have come out by then. :D

Fair enough. I mean I guess in the end it's all about personal preference. For example, the shapes of ur ears could determine how well they stay in ur ears, compared to the shapes of other earbuds.
I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with those BOSE headphones tough :(
Good luck on ur hunt for the ultimate, cost efficient earbuds!
I salute you!
