And for Andrew's highlights in T.O.

- Uber clean Fog
- Backside Blur, Ducking Butterfly, and Paradox Whirl mid-guiltless-string
- Ducking Paradox Symposium Mirage
- Backside Blur > Butterfly > Paradox Whirl > Whirl
- Some tough links: Swirl > Blur, Symposium Whirl > Ripwalk, Blizzard > Double leg-over, Torque > Ducking Butterfly
- Learned the name of the stylie trick I've been working on, Far Refraction. Felt really rad mid-string.

Stuff I've recently footed, or got close to :
- Ripped Warrior
- Reverse Whirling Swirl
- Ducking Paradox Whirl
- Ducking Illusion
- Bedwetter
- Ripstein (old news)

Probably other stuff, I haven't posted in this blog for ages :?

Just returned from shred with Andrew at city hall. Andrew was randomly really pumped for footbag and that made me happy :D I hit Dyno BSOS (my first bsos 4 :) ). I was also able to drill some other things like whirls, osis, and symposium mirages, which are all starting to improve.

Yay Footbag!

That was a sweet LATE NIGHT session! I was in a random gung-ho mentality, and hit Blur BSOS which was pretty exciting. I was also experimenting with some sets and hit a couple new tricks, Tripwalk and Magellan. After that I worked a bit on my Fairy and Atomic sets. I got very close to the following, top being the most close:

Fear
Legbeater
Reverse Magellan
Fairy Butterfly

It's nice to have finally hit some exciting new sets =) I think that the deciding stage in my style is about now, and I believe I'm going to keep focus on Blurry sets, Quantum sets, Fairy sets, and Illusions as a basis for my strings.

Had another pretty good midnight session with Cassy at city hall! Not too many highlights, but I think they're exciting:

- Torque > Blur > Legbeater, New sick 3!
- Ripwalk > Ripwalk x 5
- Ripwalk > Ripwalk > Sidewalk > Blur > Double legover [Drop]

I worked more on quantum tonight, and randomly hit like a toe swirling set by accident, which could be very cool when I can hit stuff out of it. However, after trying a couple of those leading into Ripstein, I think my lower began to hate me, as it is pretty sore as I write this. After these last couple sessions I'm actually beginning to feel like I'm good at footbag, lol.

Confidence has been a big issue for me throughout my footbag development, especially when playing around much more experienced players. But I feel that slowly beginning to fade away. A couple of months ago I found myself in a circle which included Jorden Moir, and Tom Mosher, with about a hundred people watching to boot. I couldn't bring myself to do anything interesting, due to nerves. However I found myself being more comfortable at the last journey to Toronto, especially around Tom. I'm just need to remind myself that footbaggers are generally very open minded, and I won't be made fun of for dropping, wheras in most sports riddicule would be inevitable.

I'm hoping when it comes time to face off with the greats in open competition, confidence will be the last thing in my way.

I am so happy that you guys are so keen!

I don't give a shit if you hit a trick or drop it, I am just stoked that you are stoked to be even trying the tricks.

So, that said, lets fucking shred again!

Had a pretty hardcore late-night session with my lovely lover Cassy tonight. I didn't get too many highlights, I was in the mood for attacking high ADD tricks. Cassy however had a lot of very nice highlights as I'm sure you'll see. These are my few, but almost cool highlights:

-Perfect Ripped Warrior
-Footed G.Y.B.A.S.
-Footed Quantum Mirage
-Footed Atomsmasher
-A nice DPS Mirage
-Random Pixie Atomic set
-Footed Bedwetter

Too much footing, not enough awesome :(

I worked a lot on my Ripstein for the first time in a while. SO CLOSE!!! I would have hit it clean if I had dexed my foot about a half-inch more. Oh wells. Also worked Whirr for a little bit, my legs are getting speedy, I love it! I was also trying for my first 6-ADD (besides Blurry Dada Curve) Blurry Ducking Symposium Mirage, but I had a bit of trouble ducking properly. After I can duck a Blurry set a bit better it should be cake. I have also recently been trying to hit Flux, that should be soon too :) I really think that is all... After trying all of those high energy tricks for a few hours, I was drenched in sweat, and almost passed out after trying a Bedwetter... It was time to pack up. Anywho, time to shower and let Cassy post the awesomeness of her session. Peace!

I FUCKING LOVE FOOTBAG!

Had one of my best sessions in a while tonight. I hit quite a few things that I've been working on for a while:

~Pdx Mirage>DLO>Butter rpt
~Whirl>Rev Whirl BS (BSOS soon!)
~14 Infinities
~35 Tiltless 8)
~Smear BSOS
~PLO>PLO
~Footed Pdx DLO

Worlds is soon and I`m not going  But watching some of the videos from Euros got me really pumped for worlds anyways. I can`t wait for all the resulting sweet ass footage to come out :).

Did I mention I fucking love footbag?

Man Cassy, 35 tiltless is crazy!!

Props on all the pixie stuff and the new infinity record too.

Andrew, sounds like you had a fruitful session too.

Don't forget to school the basics!! That doesn't have to be boring, you can keep it fun, just don't get too sucked into the big ADD's too early!

That's great advice Tom. It helps prevent injury and builds a solid foundation

So important. Also remember both sides, Andrew :p Oh, and basics will also help your form a lot. I always noticed that you hunch a lot when you play. Props on those huge tricks anyway, though. Ripped Warrior feels gooooood.
Cassy, you're progressing sooo fast! Super props. (Sprops?)
35 tiltless is ridiculous (probably took me about 5 years before I could do that...), but the pdx mirage > DLO > butterfly [repeat] really stood out to me. You are going to be goooooood!
Can't wait!
Loving the bothsidedness, Cassy. Try to rub that off onto the "lovely lover" ;)

That is the most frequent advice that I hear/see. The thing is, I'm only just starting to feel good for footbag again, there was a span of time there where I didn't even enjoy it. What was I doing during that span of time? Working fundamentals/strings. I realise that in order to be great in this sport, it takes a lot of patience and work on what needs work. Perhaps I'm not meant to be great.

The only way I ever really enjoy footbag is when I'm hitting new, big stuff. You know, the stuff you saw when you started playing, that just blew your mind to smitherines?

I remember hearing a fellow footbagger talking about a random european player, and how he could hit gigantic tricks, but couldn't hit a consistant guiltless string. While describing this player he said "That isn't footbag."
That seems to be the opinion of most footbaggers. But the thing is, who is really to say what footbag is? As it stands, I still see it as a sport for the individual, to enjoy as they see fit.

I appreciate the (definitely) good advice, but until I can enjoy footbag while working stuff that bores me, I'll continue to do what feels right for me, whether I ever become good at footbag or not. Until I start working stuff that bores me, I'll also refrain from posting my highlights in this thread.

Love
Andrew

My apologies if I sounded at all bitter in my last post, I had just woken up, all grumpy and stuff. My point still stands, but I feel I was a little rude in stating it. I know you just wanna help Erik :D I just get frustrated with myself whenever I do something wrong, especially when that wrong feels right, you know? Agh, I've been pretty unstable in general lately... Thank god for Cassy, and Footbag, and the combination of the two. I think I may make a Challenge thread for myself at some point today, that might be interesting!

So I've kinda been reading this whole saga on the last few posts. I read all the Ontario blogs, I can't help it, I just love that province.

First off Andrew you are way lucky to have a gf who shreds and loves it. Way lucky. I'm jealous. My girl is awesome, but just not into footbag at all.

With the whole long low-level runs vs. hitting big tricks/links thing, it's kind of a grass-is-always-greener dealie. I've taken the opposite road, I did something like 44 tiltless the other day and I can generally get guiltless runs to about 15 contacts these days. But aside from a handful of 4s I can hit semi-consistently and rarely throw into a run, I suck at big tricks. I've only hit 2 fives ever, each 1 time. When I'm shredding I have very little motivation to spend a bunch of tries going for some big trick or new concept, I much more enjoy thinking of some difficult but do-able repeat drill and trying to get it, and then adding more elements or links to it. I've been getting really frustrated lately with not having any new tricks in my game, just feel like I'm constantly tweaking what I already have. So like I said, grass is always greener. It's FREEstyle as long as what you're doing isn't hurting you and you're having a good time, I say rock on with your big tricks homie.

~Osis>Pdx Mirage BSOS
