Which colors to choose?!

i just got new colors today:

Rapture rose
imperial blue
petit pois
country cream
calonial red
baby cougar
animal print

all are very awesome.

I'm sort of bewildered about this, but I'm going to stand firm about my views and opinions of this facile - Paisely.

Paisely is, in of itself, a very weak facile. Very weak facile. However, after looking at Tan Paisely from a small batch that Ben Roscoe had, my opinions were slightly altered. Not completely, but slightly. It seems to me, and I've had a lot of time to think about this, that prints with a brownish type background oftentimes comes a bit thicker than its white counterpart. This can be said with Baby Cougar, with comparisons to the White/Black and the Brown/Black variants. The White/Black were obvious very very supple, somewhat waxy and thin like Small Pony, but the Brown/Black version was much more feasible, with a texture comparable to a good facile color. I've had some of these same opinions when I was observing Tan Paisely - although I did think it was a bit waxy in some way.

My exact memory of its textile is still foggy, as I only took the time to observe it as I was about to leave back home on the last day of Worlds.

Please note that Tan Paisely is sold out on Field's Fabric. They have Brown Paisely, but I'm suspicious to think that it's only a variant of the poor version of Paisely that I know and fully familiar with. You can say it is slightly comparable to Small Pony White/Brown. If somebody has bought Brown Paisely, I would like their full and extensive opinions on the color. If I'm incorrect about what Brown Paisely is, and that it's Tan Paisely and stupid Field's has just changed its name as they updated their site (I think they changed "Spash Blue" into the more simple name "Blue"), I would like to know.

In any case, as I mentioned in my first sentence, I'm going to stand firm that Paisely is a pretty poor facile. If I had some Tan Paisely on hand, I could do some experimentation to reach a final conclusion. That about covers it.

As to add further clutter to this post: I was given the liberty in experimenting a facile that I got from Fletcher Funk from Worlds. To be more exact, I bought a few random panels from him that were enough to stitch a 32 for myself, since I was curious on how this facile would feel and perform (and I wanted to stitch a Dada out of pure whim). My guess is that this color is called either Blue Opal or Mirage. If anyone has either of these facile colors, I would like a good picture and maybe a few words about what it's like.

I think the facile I have is very thin and supple - like a weaker Blue Hawaii. I don't know.

Is active green classified under ultrasuede light, or soft? Because I can only find it under ultrasuede soft categories online. Anybody have a link to where I can get some? Fields seems to be sold out...

From what i've seen, Active Green is extremely difficult to find in ultrasuede light. Its on field fabrics as ultrasuede soft and i emailed them and they stated that they did not have any Active Green in ultrasuede light left .

I think Active Green is a seasonal color. We will just have to wait until next spring and such.

Anyway, what do people think of Forest? I'm thinking of buying an entire yard of this color sometime, just to experiment. Risky, I know, but it can also be pretty worthwhile.

Also, I'm thinking of going to Maryland (probably whenever the East Coast Championships begins next year) to see if there's any Active Green sold in the local fabric stores. I remember Chris Miller bought his materials locally around his neck of the woods. If any, I'll try to keep you guys updated on this color, since I'm looking for a huge batch myself.

I'd try to buy a little piece of that fabric before buying an entire yard. or see if someone near you has it before or w/e.

And about the Active green. If you ever find some or have some that you could sell me could you pm me. I really want that color.

so what was the overall consensus on imperial blue? personally im liking it so far but my experience in this area is waaaayy lacking haha

It's a pretty good color, breaks in well, doesn't pill or generate holes quickly. It is kind of a deep blue though, not very bright.

thanks chase, yeah i ordered it because i thought it was a more purpleish blue haha it had just arrived when i posted yesterday and i was making sure i hadnt made a mistake in buying it haha

Black Noir is the best black. It breaks in just as good as any other color! As for "thinner" blacks, the only alternative is Midnight which is a dark blue.

For greens, Petit Pois and, I know there's another green out there but I don't remember the name, are good. I have an Olive green that's really strong and thin.

If I can find names, I'll post them. But until then, just browse this thread. There's lots of really helpful info in here!

I think I have Fresh Lime, but I have Tangerine and Burnt Orange.

Definitely get Burnt Orange, as ultrasuede light. I think it is the best orange that Field's has ever sold on their site. Aesthetically, it tops Marmalade and Sunny Sienna, and it feels like a very good color that will break-in well. It's also a very good medium between Marmalade and Sunny Sienna in terms of performance.

If possible, avoid ultrasuede soft at all costs. I think the purchase of ultrasuede soft should only be reserved for Tulip, because there isn't a good and vibrant-looking yellow on Field's yet. Active Green is a possibility as well, since many people are complaining that there aren't any good colors to represent a "truer" green than Active Green.

But to get back onto your question: Tangerine and Fresh Lime are ok for ultrasuede soft colors. I recommend you sew 12-panels with them, or a footbag below a 32 to compromise the thickness from ultrasuede soft.

Thanks for the reply. I'm mainly looking for a good orange color, so I'll probably check out Burnt Orange. And I plan on sewing only 12 panels and maybe some 14's, so if I do get Fresh Lime, the thickness shouldn't be too much of a problem (hopefully).
