Height & Footbag
i just wanted to bring this bacl p becasue im tall too, and would like more feedback on this issue. im 6'3" and about 170 lbs. i donth ave troubles hitting ducking stuff, and im not advanced enough yet for ps whirls. my bigest problem is the size of my feet, but thats it really.... i do have great huge windows since im long and skinny though =)
I don't see why ducking would be harder for tall people. I'm 6'4" and ducking came almost as second nature, I think I hit ducking clipper like somewhere within 10 tries. Shoesize sucks though. I usually wear around a 15, but I'm lucky enough to fit into a 14 laver. I really don't want to grow any bigger. And I don't really like my form, but I've cleaned it up a shitload, and but looking good ain't easy when you have pencil-thin arms. Maybe I should wear long sleeves or something.
I'm a little over 6 feet, 150lbs. Moderately-tall, super lanky.
My oppinion of height in footbag has changed. I think being short is definately better. It's alot harder to have good form when you have twice as much body to keep track of. When your legs are 4 feet long, if your knee placement is off, it's a much bigger deal than if you were smaller. I find that short people tend to have better form. Whether my logic behind it is valid or not, I don't care. If I look at a ton of videos, the people with shitty form are almost always the taller, lankier players. I should prolly not give examples, but I wonder if others have noticed the same thing. Tell me if you think I'm wrong. Shorter people tend to have better form that taller/lankier people.

I'd be embarassed about this video, but I don't really ever get embarassed. It's kind of old, and my form is better now (although still pretty crappy imo). But I still think if I was like half a foot shorter my form would look a lot better. I think the main thing is noticability. A shorter person may have the same hunch I used to have, but that wouldn't be quite as noticable as my form since I have a larger body.
EDIT: im terribly sorry... i was a jerk. i apologize, and me and zac have worked things out.

The only reason it seems like short people have better form/style than tallies is because the short people don't have HUGE windows to make moves easy to do badly. Like... if you have huge lanky legs, you can do stuff really wrong, but still land it.
I couldn't do shit until i finally made my form good. Because i have the smallest windows ever.
Tall people who have good form and style:
Nathan Pipenberg, Dylan Fry.
Being tall doesn't keep you from having good form, taking advantage of being able to be sloppy does.

That sounds entirely valid. Makes complete sense. I would still say, absolutely, that being shorter is an advantage. If some force could have made things harder for me to learn, but give me good form; if I had been allowed either to learn things properly or not at all, I would pay money for it. Maybe the grass is always greener.... this just makes sense to me though.HG wrote:The only reason it seems like short people have better form/style than tallies is because the short people don't have HUGE windows to make moves easy to do badly.
