But you don't hear me tho'

Post by bustinjustin »

I will be attending, you heard?
Evan I also plan on doing a little sponsoring, if you catch my drift. I haven't smoked in almost 2 months, so I've been saving up for you guys.

Also, what's the weather like over there. I heard that it wasn't going so great, all I got to say is it better be frick'n warm over there next weekend. I am so sick of Seattle weather!

Justin: Read two posts above yours.

Remember to bring a sleeping pad/bag/blankets. Our house is kept pretty chilly to keep the energy bill down, so bring something warm to sleep in.

Our Address: 737 S 1st W, Missoula, MT 59801

I know that this is in here several times, and two posts up, but I just want to reiterate so that everyone will have a comfortable stay. We have mostly hardwood floors.

Not being able to call long distance is fucking pathetic.

Boone Penske is most likely getting a ride from me as well. I still need to figure some stuff out though.

Lots of info

Post by TwistedTorque »

Let me re-iterate Kevin's re-iteration:
THE CRASH HOUSE IS FREEZING.
I'm a skinny whinny bitch, but I just wanted you all to come prepared. Bring a pad and a good blanket. You'll have a better weekend. Also, we've had a great winter (aka long and cold) and there's still a lot of it hanging around. So, bring your long sleeve shred shirts and a beanie. A good jacket too. That being said: the weather is starting to look pretty good for us: 65 and sunny the day of the jam and 69 and partly cloudy on Sunday. Definitely looking like the nicest weather so far this year. We've been blessed with fantastic weather every year and it would be great for it to continue (send your good energy!!).

OK, so here are a bunch of relevant locations for the jam:

MFJ Google Map

This has a TON of information in it. Missoula is a very confusing city (thanks to two different planners: one doing it N/S, the other doing streets NW/SE) and many of your questions will be answered by printing off a couple pages of this map. Crash house location, party house location, jam location, Disc Golf location, close grocery stores, best beer buys, local brewery, and cheap food. Again, just print this off, OK?

BASIC SCHEDULE OVERVIEW:
Friday:
*Noon - 3pm - Shred at the University (check map)
This is where we all meet up (unless you are super early or super late).

Saturday:
*Noon - 10pm - The actual Montana Freestyle Jam (check map)
It all goes down here. Footbag Tournament, Freestyle Competition, Music, Workshops, pretty much everything.
*11pm - The wee hours - MFJ Party (check map)
Player's party at my house. Good local beer and good people. What else could you want? I'm sure we could figure something out ;)

Sunday:
*Noonish - 2 or 4 pm Unofficial Shred Day in the woods.
I like keeping this mellow and loose. Like the past two years, we'll head up to the woods in the outskirts of Missoula and shred hard on concrete.
*4 - 8ish pm - The official Montana Disc Golf Expedition (check map, there'll be a train of cars to follow)
OK, I'm only calling it an expedition cause Montana disc golf (folf as we call it) courses are hard core. We'll be up at Blue Mountain again and will have as many extra discs as possible. This is a lot of fun and seemed to be one of the favorite parts of last years Jam. More people talked about this in the follow up thread than the actual Jam. Hey, maybe our Jam sucks and shredders are only coming for the disc golf. :) Either way, this won't suck.
*8pm - Whenever - Chill

OK, so this is the Montana Freestyle Jam and not just a huge footbag event. We easily have the biggest representation of any freestyle, so I would appreciate the addition to the festival that any of you that do other tricky things (mainly juggling) during the festival. There'll be plenty of time to play footbag, but it would be cool if you guys hit up a good juggling session, played with your yoyo (Randall), or had some devil sticks. Whatever. Contribute to diversification.

FREESTYLE COMPETITION
7pm - 8pm. Separate from the footbag tournament, this is a truly unique event. 30 seconds, open format (juggling, footbag, doing a backflip while belching the ABCs, whatever), no microphones given out (sorry). Afterwards we ask the crowd what they thought, they scream, we measure decibels, highest reading wins. Start thinking about what a crowd would like to see. I've always liked this because it gets you thinking like a performer.

So, any questions should be shot to my cell phone:
(406) 544-7380

Kevin, would you mind posting yours, Jere's and Riley's cell numbers if they say ok? I don't want to post your cells if you don't want them up.

Riley is the contact for the footbag tournament. All questions go to him.

WOW, here comes another Freestyle Jam. Our 5th festival. I think that officially means our festival doesn't suck. :) This has been a great personal experience on a thousand and one levels for me, however it would of never gotten anywhere without the support of the community (aka you). So basically, thanks! A huge thanks to the crowd that supported the Jam every year. All of you that remember the first two festivals at the University, you know who you are.

Looking forward to having everybody come. It's looking to be a fantastic weekend. Travel safe.

For the record, my room has no heat vent.
And yes, I am a wuss. That's the first thing I said after saying that. ;)

As far as hosting people goes, I'm going to try to accommodate everyone as well as I did last year. It would be great if I could get some help with purchasing food for the masses, but I'm not expecting much. I tend to be a generous person, but don't take advantage of me because I'm a poor college student.
The only other thing we ask is that you clean up after yourself. Hosting a jam is stressful enough, the last thing we need is another mess to clean up. I had to swallow a few of those last year. That's all. Can't wait to see y'all at our place!

Heh, there is no way I'm playing disc golf. Disc golf sucks my harbls. Is there anything I can do besides boring my ass off playing disc golf? I'll just stay at Kevin's and jam by myself or something.

I call not it on driving, period. haha on the way there atleast.
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.
