The only reason you want to remove the canvas from your shoes is so you can feel the bag on your foot better. The weight difference is really negligible, I doubt its even perceptible. If you bother to do the modification, then wear really thin socks when you play, or even no socks. The idea is you want to feel the footbag making contact with your foot.
I`m under the impression that most pros remove the canvas from their shoes.

The hardest part Snale is initially finding the first 2 layers, but once you've figured out how thick the canvas layer is, the rest is a snap, well, most of it...and since you have pics and description, that's a lot better than just cutting into it with know idea of what to look for like i did with my old shoes, and yet, everything went fine. Have fun

Once you have your toe box done, compare your other shoe to your newly mod'd shoe. It's a world of difference with softness and feel.

And it works, I just cut one small hole in the top layer
