Does anyone roll your own cigarettes?

It's cheaper this way. I was wondering what the best rolling papers and tobacco are.

What inspired you to start rolling your own?

I used to do this.

pros:

cheaper
some brands taste a lot better
fun

cons:

all the usual smoking stuff
AND, in terms of our community specifically,

it gets in the way of footbag, big time.

my favorite brands were drum, bali shag, and jester.

I've been hearing good things about Jester.

What kind of tobacco would you get, and how much of it would you purchase at a time? I smoke infrequently and don't want it to dry out. I think keeping it in an open plastic bag with a wet paper towel around it and inside of a sealed bigger plastic bag might be effective.

I'm thinking about just natural tobacco. Did you ever use filters? I've been thinking that might be a pretty good idea ;-)

side note:
Hey Tom. If you don't have anything positive to say, please just keep it to yourself or PM me instead of cluttering the thread.

Not that I advocate smoking (I agree with Tom), but it seems you're willing to go through a lot of trouble for a casual smoke every now and then.

Regarding not letting your tobacco dry out, I can only think of humidors that are used to keep cigars from drying up. You can also buy "disposable" humidor bags that you can keep cigars in for about three months. I'd imagine that these would work with rolling tobacco also.

next time you're talking to someone with a gun in his or her mouth, say,

"wow, blowing your brains out is retarded", roll your eyes, and walk away.

Let me know how that works out for you :D I bet it results in stained drapes at least.

Well it would be even more trouble if he did it multiple times daily. It makes more sense to roll your own smokes when you're casual about it.

I smoke casually also. I'll get a pack and smoke most of it while drinking, but then abstain for a couple of weeks for health/addiction reasons. It seems to me like rolling my own would be an even better idea, since it would benefit my skills in rolling other things as well. :D

I don't plan on smoking at all in a few years. I know that's what they all say, but I'm pretty confident in my abilities to "quit whenever I feel like it".

Fine.

It concerns me when my friends smoke because I fear they have underestimated the risk they are taking and I worry about their future.

Do whatever you want.

Don't be so confident in yourself. I've had three friends say it, and they all smoke now and regret it.

When I roll a cigarette, I like to use a crutch and put a little bit of cotton in it. It works just as well as a filter (From what I can tell) and slows the flow of the smoke.

Stem cells will give us all new lungs and in result smoking will become madly popular once again, and we will be able to say "I smoked back even when we knew inhaling plutonium 210 was bad for you and still fucking did it"

Another tip as long as we're talking about ways to make a rollie less harsh; there's a method I learned about long ago in my sensi burning days where you basically roll a joint inside out with the gummed edge at the bottom, so in effect you roll it until you have a nice little tube with a half inch of excess paper hanging off, which you can remove by burning or tearing it away.

In essence a method of rolling that requires you to inhale half the amount of paper.

I prefer to use 'American Spirit' regulars. It's pretty stout but it's 100% natural additive-free tobacco.

Back then, I was more into Drum for rolling and "Lucky Strikes" for regular cigarettes.

Nowadays, on and off, I pick up a Camel once in awhile, but I choose not to smoke much tobacco anymore.

I do have a stash of "Captain Black Gold" pipe tobacco that I put aside only on rainy/stressful days, but I generally don't touch it at all. And I use a long and slender wooden pipe, so I generally put a small amount in it every time I take a smoke.

Anyway, tobacco is bad.

Ya, this is how I do it. Youtube "backrolling" or backroll to get step by step instructions since its tricky but you basically just lick the glue through the paper.

Every time I roll after a shower or washing my hands, the paper never works with me and my fingers just slide around the paper

which leads me to believe that natural oils in the hand are essential in rolling your own cigarette

to avoid this lick the fingers your rolling with. then start rolling again...repeat that until you're ready. I bet it'll work for you, because I had the same problem and that method fixed it.
